  • Now, I personally think video game soundtracks are better then movie soundtracks but SSBB has the best theme song in gaming history! I can listen to this song forever and ever and it can never get old. At first I had no clue what the hell the choir was saying but then I figured out it was latin but it's still an incredible song.

  • 1 person speaks latin and cant read the english :D

  • why vhs quality?

  • Am I the only one who cant read it? It's just fuzz on my PC

  • I don't like Nitendo's translation. I study Latin, and "Audi Famam Illius" doesn't mean "I've heard legends of that person". Then it would be "Audui fabulam illius hominis". "Audi Famam Illius" means "Hear his story". Now I understand that this is a free translation, not so strickt, but come on Nintendo, some of the translations you gave don't make sense.

  • 2 Songs I love in SSBB

    1

Live and learn (youcan listen it to it in sound test)Ican also

    play it in guitar

    2

This latin song that i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEE IT!

  • SSBB Forever!!!

    It's super epic...

  • Nobuo Uematsu need to do EVERY Video game song thats Epic. :P

  • Maybe, they should use that kind of songs in: Legends of Zelda,Fire Emblem and other Anime Video games.

  • OMG.

    Fantastic song :D

  • Latin is alot like french.

  • @Fire7Knight

The French, Spanish and others are from the latin, so thats why they sound similar

  • i was used to think that latin wasn't used anymore and now i heard this song and it is B-E-A-U-tiful!!! wow .....0.0 wish they make more latin songs only then with those singers XD

  • Search for "One Winged Angel" also by Nobuo Uematsu (who also wrote this song).

  • @sidwerd1hater but it wasn't smile please?

  • @Crystalitar Fire Emblem theme from SSBB is a latin song and is beautiful too.

  • @Crystalitar actually, most of the medical terms that we know today, are in latin, but yes, other than that, it is a dead language

  • Wow... Latin is so different from portuguese and spanish! I speak both languages... Latin has nothing to do with either!

And yet they call spanish/mexican people "latins" as a generical term!

  • If you want to get REALLY technical, latins are people from all over the world whose native language is a romance language. They may be

    Latin-Americans (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile)

Latin-Europeans (Spain, France, Italy, Romania, Portugal)

Latin-Africans (Morocco, Western Sahara, Ethiopia, Lybia)

    Latin-Asians (Fillipines)

    Latin-Oceanians (?) (French Polynesia)

  • @sidwerd1hater No, Latins strictly refers to the people of Latium. Used otherwise, it doesn't make much of any sense. Obviously you can take it out of context (Latin-Americans) but the same principles apply. Its like calling a Russian person a Byzantine-Asian.

  • @Terryracoon You must be joking. Latin is mother to both Spanish and Portuguese. Those being Romance languages, they are derivatives from the ROMAN language (i.e. Latin). It is closer relative to Italian, but it still has much validity in comparison to Spanish. "Latins" does not at all, and should never, refer to a Latin-American. Latinos/Hispanics/South-American and whatever else there may be. 'Latins' is a denomination of the people of Latium, the founders of Rome.

  • @Terryracoon yes it is! i'm italian and latin is a lot different! i speak portguese too and it's the same thing! COOL!!!

p.s. smash bros. in the heart!

  • WHAT MEANS revere ?

  • "I heard of his glory, he ran alone against the enemies and served his homeland. I heard of his glory He broke in and attacked destroying ( everything) I heard of his glory x2 Everyone's hope , mine too. Everyone's terror, mine too. (Now) He is by my side. x3 I have allies who once were valiant men and rivals. Fighting and struggling harshly glory becomes greater." Well,if it looks awkward in english, it does even in latin.
  • This song is actually full of mistakes.

Even the first word "audi" is not correct.

In fact "audi" is the imperative form of "audio", 2nd singular person, so you should translate "You, listen [etc...]"

The form which should be translated as "I heard" is "audii".( double "i" )

You could probably think, ok, wtf, it's almost the same, but, trust me, it is not.

I'm writing my translation, the ones I found were not totally correct.

  • Also, splendor crescit means "our light grows" not "we shine even brighter". The spanish word "crecer" and "esplendor" both come from Latin so it's easy for me to see the mistakes.

  • @sidwerd1hater

You could imply that the possessive adjective going with "light" is "our", but it's not written in the text.

"Our" in latin is "noster, nostra, nostrum", so it should have been "splendor nostrer crescit" (splendor is a masculin noun, it is not neuter as we could think)

  • @vodkavelenosa

Surely, "I heard" is "audivi," not "audii."

  • remember that it's church latin, not Caesar latin, and also it's a song, so the artist can make variations to make it sound cooler

  • @vodkavelenosa Actually the song is composed well. Don't think just because they're Asian that they don't know their Latin. Words like 'gladius' and 'socius' were rarely pronounced with two 'i's when in the genitive, ablative/dative plural (for example: Cum socis (long 'i') contendo Ego). The same is applicable to verbs, if I didn't want to say 'audivi' or even 'audii,' I would say 'Audi.'

  • even tho its another language i like it

  • this is one of my favorite song in the game

  • 1 word. Epic

  • what kind of music is this?

  • classic, chorus

  • one of the best classic songs I've ever heard.. terribly beatiful

  • Typo! :)

    "Saeve certando pungnandoque"

    It should say "pugnandoque".

  • I love this song SO MUCH.

  • And I love it too. AND THE GAME! I WISH I HAD IT!

  • she's "dead set" on it. meaning she hates that anyone is stonger than the Hands.

  • Oops, sorry XD

  • My sister is dead set that no one should be stronger than the master hand. Is tabuu from another game?

  • 1 Tabuu is from this game, it's his debut and yes its wayyy tronger than Master and Crazy Hand.

2 Is your sister dead? a) Why should I care? b) I'm terribly sorry.

  • I didn't knew those were the real lyrics! Epic!

  • i never knew some songs like this were Latin i should have known since i take latin though now that i know i'm excited to try to translate them on my own see if i get close to actual translation

  • I wouldn't. This translation is horribly wrong.

  • Blame it on Nintendo, not me.

  • I also took Latin, and I translated a good chunk of it once I saw the Latin lyrics for the first time. I can easily write down the real translation (this one sucks), unless you want to try to do it yourself, dragonecco2010.

  • that would be awesome because i don't remeber much from latin all ready XD

  • Hear that person's report. Alone, he rushed into his enemies and save his homeland. Hear that person's report. He ran destroying everything he touched. Hear that person's report. Hear that person's report. [He gave] hope to everybody--to me, as well [He gave] terror to everybody--to me as well That person [is now] next to me. That person [is now] next to me. Allies are [now] mine who before were strong men and rivals. By fiercely struggling and fighting, splendor grew.
  • wow good translation i like it

  • those are not the lyrics... nice try!

  • If you are trying to say that these are not the Nintendo lyrics, you are correct. As stated above in this chain of replies, Nintendo's "translation" is not a good one! This one is closer to a word-for-word translation of the Latin.

  • Actually, I'm pretty sure those are Nintendo's lyrics.

Which is not the correct translation, as you said.

    Whatever.

  • @genius11433

Sorry there, mate, but these are not closer in any sense. They are, though, closer to Nintendo's whimsical little production.

  • Well, if I am off somewhere, then please tell me what would be a better translation from what I have.

  • You can watch that in the videos section too I think, but I'm not sure. I haven't played it in a while :D

  • no, you cant, and thats bullshit

  • You can't. I tried it, it doesn't work.

  • I remember when I first played Brawl I kept wondering why they were singing the opening in latin. Well beating Subspace and seeing what they meant brought a tear to my fanboy eyes and realized how truly awesome the song was.

  • Might sound wierd but this song could also apply to Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

  • THNX! i beat the game but it only showed the lyrics once.

  • u can see the lyrics by defeating tabuu again.

  • that song is EPIC

  • i like the lyrics and the song theme.

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Yay! i could never figure out what the lyrics were saying :) thx for making this

  • Brawl is epic. Had a lot of good music.

  • This is awesome!, the lyrics are cool too, so full of heroism. I likey. 8)
