    Not Buckethead!

    U Listen to John Frusciante!

  • he has an extra awesome outfit in this one

  • De la puta madre

  • I saw Buckethead play with Primus in 97. Other than that, he was in a group called Praxis with Bootsy Collins and Brain on Drums. He is also featured in the DJ QBert video WaveTwisters as long time friend of QBert named DJ DISK was also in Praxis.

  • @deadbent99 Yep, I love Praxis.

  • @deadbent99 Wasn't Claypool also frequently playing as a bassist for praxis?

  • @jeylategano Not sure about that, but I know that Buckethead has done numerous shows with Les Claypool.

  • @CIAmrx Sure, knew that. I was wondering if Les actually ever played for Praxis. Who knows, but yeah they played together a lot. Besides, they had the same drummer for a number of years. It would be almost surprising to me if they never actually formed a band together, although so far I haven't come across one...

  • @jeylategano According to the wikipedia page for Praxis, Claypool was never officially part of the group but he contributed to it often.

  • @jeylategano Like C2B3?

  • @jeylategano No.

  • this song is dedicated to the basketball player Blake Griffin, or is there another Blake Griffin who i'm not familiar with?

  • @ThaCGNStudio2 The basketball player.

  • I clicked this because I was on a Mastodon video and thought this was a cover. Pleasently surprised actually its pretty good.

  • @paddie3535 Please do buddy, Youtube is so full of negativity and people who need an education. Enjoy some Buckets, and while you are at it try some Freak Kitchen, Paul Gilbert, Shawn Lane, Blotted Science and Guthrie Govan while your searching. Enjoy dude.

  • is it just me or is this guy wearing a bucket on his head?

  • @sabdow Yes, he's wearing a bucket on his head. Hence the name Buckethead. Someone call NASA, I think sabdow will be their most desired new employee.

  • @INTOtheVOID11 -- Hey man theres no need to be racist here. I was just clarifying whether or not the artist was wearing a bucket on his head

  • @sabdow lolz

  • @sabdow Trust me, it's just you.

  • you have no idea of how much i love this guy...

  • Love the solo @ 3:34 !!

  • @dbetsa I think the man came first

  • Songs to check out if your new: Final wars Night of the slunk welcome to bucketheadland big sur moon For mom soothsayer revenge of the double man computer master soothsayer of course bucketheads toystore any c2b3 any praxis any thanatopsis anything from electric tears and then continue your journey on finding your own songs you love from his other 40+ albums... Welcome!
  • Buckethead don't give a shit.

  • but what came first, the bucket or the man?

  • I wish Buckethead would experiment with chord progressions, it's pretty conventional what he does. But he always makes it work.

  • @Pakanahymni listen to the acoustic shards album, that has lots of gems in there, and also check out his other music he has like 5 million songs you will definitely find something different

  • @108MCruz

I've listened to Buckethead's music for over five years now. I meant that his music rarely has complex theory implemented in it. His music is good for what it is but he could do so much more.

  • his music always new and make us surprise

  • Love this man

  • Everything sounds like it was made with a keyboard. I know it wasn't, so I'm gonna say these are some fucking rad skills.

  • ALL HAIL THE LORD OF THE BUCKET

  • The note at 2:45 game me goosebumps, nightmares and orgasms at the same time.

  • Buckethead is 1 of my favorit guitar players

  • not sure how i ended up here but DAMN this guy can play, i'll definitely be checking out some more

  • @paddie3535 haha, yeah he sure can play. i suggest you listen to Soothsayer, probably one of his best/most well known songs. also listen to the other ones i have by him on my channel, they are also very good.

  • @CIAmrx thanks i just finished listening to soothsayer, i can't believe this guy has slipped under my radar. thanks

  • @paddie3535 yeah, he really is a fantastic musician. check out this video, its one of my favorite live performances by him.

    watch?v=hn70ZY8M55U

just put youtube.com in front of it.

  • @CIAmrx nottingham lace? night of the slunk? jordan? padmansana? the live version of whitewash?

  • @paddie3535 Yeah, he's not bad, but you should check out the original by Mastodon.....it blows this out of the water.

  • @MrBrysonification this is not a cover.

  • @MrBrysonification this isn't a cover of the mastodon song.... not even similar. How can you think it is?

  • @paddie3535 You a lucky dude!.. this guy is the mozart of our time!

  • @paddie3535 haha youre like me about 3 years ago... it's beautiful to find buckethead...I couldn't believe my ears back then.... and theres waaay more, believe me.

  • @paddie3535 Final wars is a good one as well.

  • @paddie3535 anything off of the "Elelphant man's alarm clock" album

  • @300daysandnights thanks, i think i have checked out a few dozen songs since this one. good stuff

  • Listening to Buckethead is like looking up into space...it makes you feel insignificant.

  • Yeah before I taught the same: Some of his songs suck, it just effects and weird noises!! But now I love to listen to those songs because they are parts of Buckethead’s world, we can learn a lot more about him!!!

  • I have to agree that the mask and the bucket probably helped a lot to get new people to know him, but I disagree with people who say his songs are lame!! One thing you understand thru the years is that you can't instantly love and appreciate the art of everybody. Just take the example of Vincent Van gogh, when he was alive his paintings were considered like crap, but today.. some of his work worth millions!!

  • buckethead is one of the most unique musicians in history, padmasana, soothesayer, and all of the album colma are amazing songs. also i have never been to a show where a musician played music that was reminiscent of metal. blues, funk, and fuckin rave. with that being said buckethead should always be remembered as one of the greats

  • Skye > Sky

  • You haters in red are ashes on my green cig, eat a dick lol.

  • You haters in red are ashes on my green cig, eat a dick lol.

  • Buckethead is a great writer, performer, and most of all, player. He wears the bucket because he wants you to focus on his art not on his image or personality, something that many artist try to substiture for talent. And it's genius cause his mask will never "age."

  • In the solo, I imagine a super hero intro to the figth xD

  • lame? just take the songs you do like and that total number will be staggering. I don't listen to every song he puts out because some are weird but putting a bucket on his head is not the reason he is awesome. If lady gaga couldn't sing she would be famous just for her voice just like BH.

  • This is the best song on "It's Alive", solo is awesome!

  • That dudes wearing a bucket on his head!

  • @defstar65 Megafail, Spockfock

  • Genius pure genius

  • Rocks!

  • @MyspAIDS I have to agree with you. Some of Buckethead's music I like, some of it I dislike and I find it to be just plain weird.

  • @CIAmrx The guys got such a wide range of musical vibes, there no pidgeon holing him into a specific style. That being said, I own alot of his stuff. I've heard other tracks I didn't really connect with, but I think he's got good writing skills, I think he's just something of an acquired taste though. For me it works, enough so that I'm going to see him at the Fox Theatre in two weeks. Check put the Crossroads footage from 9/2009. Should be a lot of fun

  • @davidplus5 Nice dude. I saw him this past summer on July 31st at the Vic Theatre in Chicago..the show was off the hook.

  • @CIAmrx what was the line up for that show? Is he still doing a solo performance?

  • @davidplus5 Yeah, he's still doing solo performances. I wish he was playing with a full band, but it was awesome to see him nonetheless. I'm searching for the full setlist from the show, but I can't find it. He played a lot of his usual songs, i.e. Soothsayer, Jordan, Night of the Slunk, Siege Engine, Gory Head Stump, and some others.

  • @CIAmrx couldnt agree more, his fingers are very quick and developed, but when it comes to him soloing i dont think he really gets what to do so he just out does more than what he should do

  • @CIAmrx Dude!!! I knew I would be blown a way but, this was freakin' unreal. I has totally hoping it would be a solo set, and it was. He did an extended solo on soothsayer, next to last song of the set, and just killed it. Want's you sucked into the what he's all about, and then u see him live....well lets just say all 10 of us there are still awe struck. Absolutely amazing performer IMO!

  • @CIAmrx I went to that concert to

  • @davidplus5 I'll be there too!

  • @MyspAIDS I have to disagree with you absolutely. When I started listening to Buckethead, I doesn't knew that he had a fucking bucket in his head and I thought that he was a fucking God equally

  • @MyspAIDS BH's songwriting skills are amazing, of course there are many songs you don't like but only because he write MANY MANY songs!! Even without his bucket he had written all these songs, and only because he is a guitarist with a cool entertainment idea, you should not say that people would not pay attention to him without it. His technique skill is one of the best ever believe it or not, wearing a bucket on the head is not the reason why so many listen his songs! sry for my engl

  • @MyspAIDS I love all bucketheads music, he has good tallent and emotion ^.^ check out electric tears and come back :)

  • @snakev10v5 I listened to it, and it is a good song. But while we're suggesting music, check out Ted Greene playing Send In The Clowns for some truly beautiful guitar playing. And if you're into minimalistic, ambient stuff like Electric Tears, I also suggest you check out Brian Eno.

  • @MyspAIDS Go and die in Hole

  • I should die because of my music taste? That's funny, especially considering I enjoy listening to buckethead. You really need to grow up if you can't handle people criticizing the creations of others. And FYI, criticism is what enables us to grow as artists. Look at Justin bieber. Do you think he's critical of his own music? No, he gets told that his shit shimmers like gold and so he just keeps on shitting. I would bet that I'm far less critical of bucketheads music than buckethead is.

  • @MyspAIDS Yup criticism helps us become better by hearing someone elses do-better and trying to get that do-better to impress them, people like bieber who think they are great are so close minded to what they could be.

  • @MyspAIDS While mostly true, I have to totally disagree in that Bucketheads songwriting skills are unfathomable, Just his inspiration is not completely of our own. As shawn lane said his sound inspiration comes from other instruments so the sounds he hears are not guitar orientated. And I believe the same of Buckethead, and No, It is what you put it out to be.

  • @slytherern And I put that comment out there with no hate. I've been listening to buckethead for a long time, and again, he's a phenomenal guitar player. Trust me, its not that i can't appreciate complex or experimental music; on the contrary, its my favorite type of music. But buckethead songs never go anywhere unexpected; he might do something goofy, he might do something random, but on the whole he's predictable and doesn't really have that "take your breath away" factor. For me at least.

  • @MyspAIDS -but on the whole he's predictable and doesn't really have that "take your breath away" factor...-...............who would??

  • @MyspAIDS ok so he sees the world as it is and makes music about it .... so dont be a douch k you dont see the world i do my life sucks i see

  • @QBall14s With all due respect, no, Buckethead sees the world how buckethead sees the world, you see it as you see it, and I see it how I see it. Every perspective is unique, but I assure you mine is in no way delusional, idealistic, or sheltered, nor does it interfere with my ability to appreciate good music.

  • @MyspAIDS ....well.....thats ok.....its your opion.....but u know what??....i dont care if he is remembered.....I wont be here..either....so....wtf........I just enjoy his music today.......maybe u got a point...there....I dont like ALLL his music.....all of his songs.....but.....I dont love.....all chopin's pieces either.....or any artist....composer....or whatever......so.....thats my opinion.....with all due respect......

  • @gooseaskreply .....by the way......chopin....is -quite- rememberd today......I would say

  • @MyspAIDS You're mixing up entertainment with musicianship... as a lot of people seem to do. Buckethead as an entertainer would probably most definitely be more interesting and entertaining than just Brian as an entertainer. But Buckethead as a musician as compared to just Brian as a musician, would have almost no difference. If anything, his music would be more popular WITHOUT the bucket. Most people see the bucket and mask and they're automatically driven away because its "weird".

  • @MyspAIDS He has over a thousand songs not all of them are going to sound the same you obviously don't understand that music can be made of any types of sounds and he wears and bucket and mask not so people will pay attention to him idiot think about it how much more famous he would be and known if Brian Carroll took it all off, it wouldn't be the same. Whatever you think of it is as "weird" you don't have to like it or enjoy it but at least some people do "Not tying to hate".

  • @MyspAIDS you could say that about alotta people with "style/character/swag" or whatever u wanna call it.

what would bruce lee be without his nose wiping and screaming?

what would elvis presley be without his dancing?

what would slash be without his style?

maybe u are just shallow. i love bucketheds music so much that it made me play the guitar. his kabuki mask and love for martial arts give him a sympathy bonus.

whoever listens to music because of looks has a serious problem...

  • @MyspAIDS He wore that because of stage fright I'm pretty sure, the chicken bucket came later for recognition from the masses.

  • @MyspAIDS mmm youre right theres a lot of really boring tracks...in the first albums..but a lot of many cool tracks and just monster soloing...hes a guitar beast..so he can wear whatever the fuck he wants...i dont care about his mask personally..btw i saw hes early pics without mask and hes ugly .. well i still was listened to some of his stuff if he was a "leftover guitar monster from the 80's named brian"

  • The bucket keeps the fried chicken warm. The plastic mask hides the funny guitar face that every guitar player eventually does.

  • drums sound horrible; can't an artist of buckethead's calibre get a session drummer rather than this midi crap?

  • Buckethead-e ti si najaci !!!

  • each time i hear buckethead i get a new favorite song

  • I don't think he started the buckethead persona to hide anything or any other hidden motive. I think he just does it cause he thinks its cool. He had been doing it before he had a big following. Then again maybe it was just for shits and giggles then he kept it so he wouldn't be in the spot light...who knows.

  • people who do not know about Buckethead who listen to him for the first time and guess who it is their listening to have named some of the top Guitarist in the world , usually when I tell them it's Buckethead they all say the same thing , damn he's good !!!

  • is there any reason for the bucket? Just a gimmick? Or maybe a way to prevent rock-god ego overload, by being rididulous?

  • @SupernalOne Eh, I'm not too keen on the reasons why Brian Carroll (Buckethead's actual name) decided to start the whole Buckethead persona. Google it to find out. Personally, I feel that he dresses up and hides his face, etc so people will focus on his music and nothing else, i.e. nobody knows what he really looks like, he doesnt want to be a rock "celebrity" in the spotlight, etc.

  • @CIAmrx

ah - yes, that seems to ring true, doesn't it - he's into the music for it's own sake, as you say - thanks!

  • @CIAmrx Stage fright/concentration.

  • @SupernalOne He went right out after seeing it and bought a Michael Myers-like white mask. Then, that night, as he was eating from a bucketful of take-out fried chicken, another inspiration struck. He described it in a 1996 interview with Guitar Player magazine: "I was eating it, and I put the mask on and then the bucket on my head. I went to the mirror. I just said, 'Buckethead That's Buckethead right there.' It was just one of those things. After that, I wanted to be that thing all the time."

  • He's got a bucket on his head...?

  • @Rich606 Yes, hence the name "Buckethead"

  • @CIAmrx Well, you learn something new every day.

  • @Rich606

    Doh. Ofcourse he has

  • @MrBlakeLee Of course. Most natural thing in the world...

  • @Rich606 WE all wear masks soon or later. He's just doing it literary :)

  • @Rich606 yeh its usually a KFC bucket.

  • Check out Brooding Peeps if you haven't heard this album yet, it's equally as good. :]
