@thebmr321 It's a high overlap cam, the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time at idle, causing a scavenging effect. Higher revs smooth out the process. Comp Cams "Thumper" cams do it, as do Lunati "Voodoo" cams. I have one in my Roadrunner, guys that don't know musclecars say it isn't running right....until I take them for a ride.
@4BBodies okay i see but you gotta understand that i only understood part of that ,im 14 and just learning some of these things, see my older brother drives a 1990 BMW and it has solid lifters that make it click and he told me it would sound something like this if he had different exhaust,so this is what i thought it would sound like and was just asking, but thank you for the response!
beautiful, love the whole thing, almost got my own javelin the other day, ad turned out to be fake dammit lol, love these so much more than mustangs or camaroes, but look at some pictures and tell me it looks something like a 70 mustang and a challenger mixed
i used to have one of these back when i was 18 & loved it, of course it had a 383 stroker with a turbo 350 trans. but i blew the shit outta the moter from being young & stupid as hell trying to race it. couldn't afford to put a another moter in it so i sold it. WORSE THING I EVER DID, I MISS THAT CAR MORE THEN MY X WIFE!!!!!
amc is 1 of the fastest american muscle cars ever made mostly it was for girls the auto company targeted girls thats what everyone says lmao a girl with a 390 with 2- 4 barreals amazing.... now they want everyone to drive 4 cylinder pile of shit any new car i dont care if it cost 90k its still junk compared to all the cars from the 80's and back open your eyes people !
Is there any commonly preferred year on these???? I like both the 71 style tail lights, and this style a lot, maybe even more. Either tail lights remind me of different year Challengers I've previously owned.
Awesome car! Love the look, and ofcourse she sounds good too. I remember these being quite rare even back in the day. Out of all the cruising, car shows, and drags, I've only seen a few of these in person decades ago. Very very seldom seen. I used to think they had potential, but looked a little odd with the wheel position, now it's just screaming 70's wild AMC to me. I might just have to try n get one of these.
Now that's a beautiful car. I hope you keep it that way. Too many muscle cars are butchered and buggered up with after market junk. Man, that's a nice one!
I only saw a picture of a 401 with a T-5 bolted up it matched very well, This is just a guess but I'd imagine the same way the guy got the T5 to bolt up the TKO could do it too, I think I was Googling random stuff about AMC 401's and stumbled upon it, I got a Jeep with a TH400 auto. by the way Those 73's are very nice! Your best bet for a real answer is the forums. The car I was talking about in the comment was an 87 Crown vic two door with a 351w, Wish I had a Javi. AMC rocks!
please be a wise guy and don'T sell your manual transmission AMX. if i would have a muscle car like this with a manual transmission .... i don'T know how lucky i were. manual transmission rocks.
i had a chance to change it with my ford focus c-max at summer 2008 but some reasons happened and i didnot change it... i am still sad to see it , its a real car , its a real boy , its a real friend...
unfortunately no this car was sold to a gentleman in Alabama...I do have a 71 AMX 360 3spd manual that my restoration shop is finishing next week. The car is Light metallic blue with the correct black fade T stripe. All chrome has been redone along with paint and interior. This car is going to be super nice. I haven't decided if I am going to sell it or not. I'll let you know if I do. 71 AMX's are the lowest numbered produced and nearly impossible to find. Thanks for asking
Nice! I have a 71 javelin AMX with a 360 just got the inside done, 12pt. cage, race seats and harnesses. It has weld pro star rims. It just needs paint and roller engine with ported and polished heads, assembled and installed, but Im all out of funds, may have to sell her! $5000 anyone??
I hear Flowmasters? whats it bored out to.I have a 74 360 .040 over 488*/488* mild have flowmasters on two and a half inch pipe out the back should hold on to it don't sale.you will regret later I know I was 16 when I bought my 1st 1971 Jave then a couple more later a 72,and a 73 then sold them all went about 12 years then found a 74 Jave/AMX that need a few parts then came across a 71 javelin it was my same 1st jave from 12 yrs before I knew it was mine I found my selective service card in it.
im gonna steal this fuckin car
