I would kill myself if I lived in Texas, I had to switch planes in Dallas one time on a flight to Florida and I almost cut my wrists. L.A. rules! Go Bruins!
While the # of NCAA titles won by UCLA is remarkable, remember they were won in an era of a much smaller tournament and 1st rd byes. There is absolutely no way that Wooden, or any coach, could that streak of titles in the modern era.
Also, UCLA's hoops tradition is basically all Wooden. UCLA has had 8 coaches since Wooden retired. KU has had 8 coaches in the ENTIRE history of its program (a good measure of the sustained excellence of a program methinks).
I have to comment on UCLA fans. I found most on the Riverwalk to be a bit smug and heard a lot of "We rooting for KU, b/c we want the easier game for the title" or something to that effect.
Then during the game w/ Memphis, UCLA fans were by far the least vocal. The only time they made ANY significant noise was when directed to do the 8 clap.
Hopefully, this was just a case of students not being able to make the trip to San Antonio, b/c the team deserved better fan support.
well it's in the middle of the school year. At UCLA, as much as they love basketball, school DOES, in fact, come first. Unlike many other prolific programs...
regardless of weather i like the bruins or not, that is stupid

If I remember right, this was the game where Damien James took a dump on the floor and wiped it on the rest of the Bruins player's faces.

We don't lack tradition, its simply measured in banners won.
But hey, KU is my 2nd fave bb team (I have lotsa family that went there), so congrats, I'm thrilled you guys won :)

hey,
I am a med student, so academics certainly are important to me. I had to fit in study time during the 12+hr drive and the off Sunday.
I think the fact that Westwood really wasn't a drivable distance was probably another factor. The 12+hr drive from KC was barely tolerable...
