Legalized gambling as in casinos and lotteries is the worst sort of parasitism and regressive taxation. I have won chess tournaments, and i have won poker tournaments. There is never a rush of adrenaline when you win a chess tournament. At the end of a chess tournament your head hurts, you look like you just got beat up, and you feel like you've been awake for days. It is exhausting. Poker tournaments are just games of chance. In order to eliminate your opponent in a poker tournament you need to win a coin toss most of the time. There is no effort in that. Chess and Poker are nothing alike.
I remember when I was young I went on a slot machine. Takes in one coin types, the ones of small value. What happened was I put in a few, then I won something. The addicts are not the majority. Sure they are out there and its awful. the reason why many lose money at poker is that only a few percent are good enough to make a living from it and they take all the money from the rest of the players. if it was all luck and 50-50 it would not be 5 % winning everybody elses money, it means you can be good at it and really bad at it. also the other reason people lose is lack of money management wich is crucial in poker. if you want to play a game that costs 1000 then you should have atleast 30 000 as a bankroll

As a slimy, deadbeat, degenerate, compulsive gambler of 19 years, I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is nothing that can be done to fix what people like me have. I have won chess tournaments, and i have won poker tournaments. There is never a rush of adrenaline when you win a chess tournament. At the end of a chess tournament your head hurts, you look like you just got beat up, and you feel like you've been awake for days. It is exhausting. Poker tournaments are just games of chance. In order to eliminate your opponent in a poker tournament you need to win a coin toss most of the time. There is no effort in that. Chess and Poker are nothing alike.

I remember when I was young I went on a slot machine. Takes in one coin types, the ones of small value. What happened was I put in a few, then I won something. Then I kept on putting some in again - but lost. Small money in total, but really left you with less money...AND wanting to come back to "claim" that money! That's where the trap is.

@BlizzGMX Oh yes definately you can't compare poker to chess. Chess is completely a skill game. You can't be a beginner and hope to beat players like Bobby Fischer. That's almost impossible. But in poker you can win a couple of pots from Phil Ivey even if he makes the right decisions. But in the long run you would definately lose a lot of money to him. Just like chess, you take advantage of your opponents mistakes in poker. Unlike any other form of gambling, poker requires a lot of skill

@rentslave You say it. Roulette it's like flick a coin, you win give me $1.00, I win I give you 99 cents. The 0 makes it that percentage, so you over time lose. For some people it is addictive. Things aren't predictable. And what should be the greatest thing in this lifetime is to love and learn and do good and not expect anything back. Predicting football or soccer results is largely a waste of time.

The addicts are not the majority. Sure they are out there and its awful. I'm a dealer and I really do not enjoy dealing to them because I know that they are likely to loose and they are gambling their money to survive and not for fun like most others. But don;t forget that casinos are licensed by the state they are in, and therefore heavily taxed by that state, providing income for the state's budget. Gambling itself is not the evil, it's people with no control.

I have personally lost over 200K in gambling and now know that it is an issue of making decissions based on emotion and not sound long term planning. Instant pleasure and false hope was my motivation. It has been heart ache, shame, loss, and big time stress. I have had many jobs in my time, before and during my time as a gambler, just as much of a problem and caused by the same bad decission making. You could burn all the casinos down but it would not have fixed the problem.

You americans are smart, in australia the minimum gambling age is 18, which includes alcohol + cigarette age limits.
When i was 18 i was still in high school lol ... the perfect age for the government to target us i guess.

Poker has made people rich but the majority of players will lose, even if it's not a huge sum. For some it will be. Gambling doesn't help society in any way, the casino's and websites are the only winners in the long run.

This is bullshit. I made over 12k playing poker online (CASH - No big tourney) and payed about 5.5k on rake. I played almost 1 million hands, so we can exclude the luckfactor. Sure, the money is gotta come from someone so i guess there are people losing bigtime, but then you should quit anyway...
But this video is so far from reality.

your all stupid if you think skill will win you money in poker. ESPECIALLY online poker (Turbo(Fast sit n go's)) Poker is 30% skill 70% luck. Most GOOD poker players now days go by what percent chance do they have of winning the hand. and percentages is gambling. and thats especially true for online poker and MORE so for turbo games. Turbo sit n go tourneys online is more like 10% skill 90% luck. and thats why ppl call Pokerstars: Riverstars and Jokerstars. No. your the joker for playing it.
