That's true. Dime always did a lot of odd tunings if that's what you want to call it. that's like a lot of people don't know that Metallica's 'Fade to Black' and 'For whom the bell tolls' isn't played at standard but 1/4 above it. Album versions anyway.

he used .12 for the lower tunes, and .10 for standard tunes

and dime uses wierd ass tunings anyways. my theory is that he developed from using .009s, and then deciding to change out the low strings, cause that would lowered the tuning a bit if you tried to tune in standard if you don't set up the floyd.
