Nice horn im getting a model 37 once my dad is ready. I love the way it plays and it is a lot of money $2700.10. But never place an expensive trumpet on anything that has a hard surface and especially on it's leadpipe it will give it damage.
Wow you are a dumbass... First off never place your 2500 dollar trumpet on the lead pipe because it bends the 2nd valve tuning slide.... Learn how to play trumpet before wasting your money because you're a dumbass...
The trumpet is very nice, but are you stupid? You never place a trumpet on its lead pipe! The weight will damage or crush the pipe! This is something they teach you in elementary music school.
1:59.... How dare you lay a strad down on it's 2nd valve slide >.< If I lay my school issued Olds NP12M or Bach TR200 valve side down I'd get a real beating from my band director...
@LearnToFly1000 You are right about not laying it on the second valve slide. I personaly hate doing it but it is not as damgerous as you would think. Specailly on a soft. I have never don't it because I feel it safer to set it the other way. In addition the only time I set my horn down is when it is in its case or on my bed or sometimes a trumpet stand when we are playing a peice without trumpets needed.
i like how you laid it on the 2nd slide. good job lol i got a 57 model strad for christmas, there's like no dents or scratches and it plays nice. my dad found it in our newspaper for like $350
heh, price isn't scary at ALL compared to some other horns that are the standard in orchestras....even yamaha is more expensive now (wtf)!!! Mine looks a bit less pretty than that after playing it every day for the past 10 years I'll tell you (good call on the valve guard, I lost mine and I'm paying for it now with raw brass showing through). All those Monettes and Eclipses are great but I wouldn't have any other horn, Bachs just have that bright old school orchestra sound to them and I love it.
@Veksta Of course I have...I wouldn't run my mouth otherwise :) Have had teachers with both and they let me play their horns ad nauseum...one had a large-bore eclipse and it was a beautiful horn but way WAY too free-blowing for my setup, like blowing into a cardboard tube. The Monette was gorgeous too but it was a Raja ($%#&@ HEAVY.) and I'm not as into the really dark American orchestral sound that's grown popular. Haven't played any Harrelsons but hear good things...
@kotetsu131 No dramas sorry to assume but a lot of people say such things having not played anything other than what they own!!
I am not a fan of really free blowing horns either! And I can totally understand why you would not like the weight of a raja lol. If you get the chance try have a shot of a harrelson HT-3 which is the lighter of their horns. Sounds a lot like a 43 strad but it's a lot more forgiving and the responsiveness of it is insane! (and doesnt weigh a tonne lol)
U LAID IT ON THE 2ND VALVE SLIDE!!!!!!!!!! HOW COULD U DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R U STUPID LOL ITS A STRAD!!!! i have a strad :D just polished it its georgous!!!
Ha I'm jealous. I'm sixteen years old and have been playing for 7 years but have been stuck with a beginners trumpet (king 601) due to money problems.
@jado9814 Try finding one cheap. Gotta know people sometimes. Got mine second hand, it was in almost perfect condition, cleaned and all. I even inspected the monel plating on the valves. All almost perfect. $1,000 even. Best buy of my life.
@iamunnameable This comment still cracks me up. I have a mint 82, I'll sell it to you for 3500 that way you can double your money...... Chance would be a fine thing given I cant even sell it for 900 hahah
@iamunnameable that doens't matter...i have a range that's sufficient for most songs. i can hit an F above the staff normally, sometimes i can squeak higher.
That's not exactly encouraging or helpful advice even if it were true. Don't forget that we were all bad at one point and the extra money the parents are willing to pay will surely help him improve faster.
I know, but parents who are willing to spend that much are likely to also to supportive in their child's passion compared to parents who jump right to the cheapest option possible. I can very well see your point though and I think I was too general with my last statement to get that point across (:
@jackgvogel Good point, very good point. My old Bundy (which is made by Bach) got knocked off a chair in band yesterday and the finger ring came off. Easy fix, just gotta take it to Baum's and have them solder it back on.

You need to educate yourself more about the horn... it is not lacquered, ANYWHERE! It is all Sterling Silver Plated! And 37 is the number of the bell, not the horn. And also, get yourself a Vincent Bach 1 1/2 C gold plated mouthpiece, they are truly worth the expense. AND DO NOT ABUSE THAT BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT BY PLACING IT DOWN ON ITS 2nd VALVE SLIDE!!! IF THAT DENTS, YOU'RE ROYALLY SCREWED MY FRIEND!!! Just trying to save you some trouble, been playing 40 years, building them for 20 now......
@johnnyjcbsn yep. got one thats 25 years old, the 2nd valve slide had a dent in it. It wouldnt come out with out a little heat persuasion (dont worry, a professional did the tinkering).
@johnnyjcbsn If you have been a tech for 20 years you would realise unless completely flattened, you can get majority of dents out of a 2nd valve slide in a matter of seconds with a dent ball on a rod :)
Get rid of the cover on the bottom of your valves as soon as you can. When I got a #37 years a few years ago that's what came with mine and after a few weeks it left a mark around the edge of my valves that was near impossible to get off without taking off the lacquer.
Best of luck with the trumpet mate, I'm getting a New York #7 Strad on friday, can't wait!
I've heard from several band directors that the newer Bachs are nearly as amazing as the older ones (the ones they made before the company moved to Japan or something) Have you ever compared the playing of your Bach to an older Bach?
This model was standard in my high school band. We were so unbelievably lucky to have been giving such awesome trumpets. Looking forward to buying my own soon. :D
Hey whats up I play trumpet and I'm looking to buy a Yamaha xeno. I live in Palm bay Florida should I buy from eBay or go to an actual store I have to get a used one because Its all my parents can afford.
I have a 4 year old strad... love it. It's also been through rough times. When I was in high school, a kid decided to use it when I wasn't there and dropped it on the floor, which dented and twisted the bell. Of course, I went after his ass and made him pay for the damages. So, after all the repairs, the tone was still preserved. It just shows how well crafted these things are.
@johnnyjcbsn yea dude, the valves are just incredible, its a reason i might consider looking into the custom series trumpets since they are professional trumpets. i just love the valves to death :P
@johnnyjcbsn you know...there is something to be said for that. I feel like the valves are almost TOO smooth on my strad sometimes. Feels like I've got nothing to hang on and makes it feel wierd often you know? granted i've gotten used to it but still...
@HeadHunter92294 Yeah, There's a major difference in tone clarity and stuff in my opinion. But still, as long as your playing you're doing something right!
Now for the Serious Comment... That's a Very NICE Horn. That Case is set up really well so the horn won't get damaged... Awesome Set up for sure... Thanks for Showing us your Horn, and Thanks for the shout out.... 5 Stars!!
I bet you'd have a resivoir built in with valve oil injectors and a good ol' wix filter to filter the valve oil. If M1 comes out with valve oil, count me in!
