  • 13s? haha try 9s ouch! but yea agree goood lesson!

  • This video didn't receive much attention compared to some others it seems. Which is too bad because after watching both your vids on tapping, I thought you really gave good advice. The one thing I'd like to see now is a lick combining tapping and picking. Like how to go from one to the other (I guess I could find a solo that uses both and work on it too).

  • Your vids are awesome - I've learned a lot from them. Please keep them coming!

  • five seven aaite... five seven aaite 1:26

  • justin m8 i got a Ibanez grg170dx and i cant get tapping its not my mistake but to get sound i have only to pick. ? what do you think its wrong? my chords tight or something? thanks

  • @WutangClan4LiF3

    Do it VERY slowly.

how long have you been playing?

  • @WutangClan4LiF3 Have you still got the issue? Most likely you aren't pressing hard enough or you need better pickups, also try changing from bridge to neck pickups and vice versa.

  • Your Video is GREAT ! Thanks !!!

  • five seven aid

  • @ justinsandercoe: How can I know which fret to tap?

  • In this example he's tapping every third note in the particular Major Scale - basically you need to know the Major Scale in order to really understand why he's tapping which note.

  • good stuff. helped me out a lot.

  • it started to sound like that music they use in war documentaries hah

  • What you do is Great Justin. You have my respect.

  • not bad bro.

  • nice tut, thanks guy

  • Awesome tutorial. Thanks justin. :D

  • Thanks for the other video man. This shit's really helpful :D And could you possibly put up a vid on tuning?? Idk how to tune my guitar but I can play fairly good.

  • Good thing about tapping is that it's not insanely hard and people who don't play guitar will propably be like, ''Wow'', because it sounds really difficult....

  • ya but for some reason i cant do it it sucks

  • Your opinion.

  • that made no sensee i just said it sucks that i cant finger tap wat u think its great or funny i cant

  • Oh, sorry, that i was not able to read your poorly grammared comment.

  • @varulv234 notice you're heckling poor grammar but Your "i" was Lower Case.

  • might not be you could be sumthing wrong with your guitar

  • Can I also tap with my first finger?

  • Yes, but it's more useful with your middle finger, since it's stronger and you can still hold the pick while tapping=)

  • ok thanks:D

  • No problem=)

  • lol i think it is nail varnish lol

  • nail varnish????

  • hey i think justin has unibrow....idk im taken my gutair class wen i get back to schooll=)

  • justin ur gr8

  • your a pretty damn good tapper. can't wait til i get that good.

  • dude its easy im 12 and i got it just practice ur rhythm

  • Thanks Justin!

I don't even have a guitar yet, but I think i'll be getting one soon and I think I already know how to tap :P

  • trust me AJ if you haven't really played much guitar it's gonna shred your fingers i've been playing for over 10 years and it still gets me lol

  • noob

  • hey justin

great videos; really helping me massively

could you possibly do something on sweep picking for begginers

  • ya i would love to know haw to do sweep picking

  • your finger nails are incredibly shiny!

  • This age thing is not important... unless you're a liberal. Then it's "hope I die before I get old" and all that BS hippie crap that rattles your brain once you're over 30. This age thing is a reoccurring theme and my suggestion is grow up and get over it. You like the blues? B B King teaches the blues and he's 83. You have experience, dont short change that by being hung up on age. Get away from liberalism -- don't turn your head into a bowel of porridge. Good luck.

  • @BlindEyeJones There's nothing wrong with being a liberal.

  • @WhippedCream66 Liberals, for the most part, are immature idealists chasing some utopia dream. They rely mostly on "feelings" that they've absorbed through media and Hollywood. There are millions of them and they all think the same thing: they're rebels. Ironic, isn't it. Thinking for themselves is not important to these conformists. When they are not self righteous about their world view - a view most have a hard time to defend - they'll resort to name calling. Again, emotion rules the day.

  • @BlindEyeJones Do you think that makes them bad people?

  • @WhippedCream66 No, I don't think they are bad people. Gullible is more like it. I wouldn't want to be like them -- though I've spent a good part of my life as a liberal.

  • @WhippedCream66 no, but they tend to think they're all mighty because they tend not to believe in God, so they force their ideals on others, or call you stupid if you don't agree with them, like Bill Maher

  • Just a quick question: why would you end up on note C if you're playing a G major scale? I don't get that.....unless it's a pattern to follow the tapping.BTW,awesome lesson.Very patient and very clear!!!

  • It's just for the purposes of the lesson, so you can play 3 notes per string. If you were really playing this for a show or something, you'd probably extend it and land on a G, B, or D (tonic, 3rd, or 5th of scale).

  • yeah he is only doing the pattern so that we learn it xD he doesnt want to confuse us or anyhting xDDD

  • hi all, am a beginner to electric guitar. i have a doubt. Shal we need to use distortion when u play tapping in electric guitar ? Also is there any need to use any particular pick ups when playing tapping in electric guitar ???? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

  • well if you can finger tap well with a clean channel thats great means you not relying on distortion and gain to tap also doesnt matter wat pickup but i prefer the bridge pickup for more treble

  • I think i can help you with this one, you can practice with your distortion off,it´s nice for practice when you´re watching tv and your mom won´t complain :) but it´s very good for axoustic songs . And it´s very good to play with distortion ´cause the sound is amazing and you get the chance to be familiar with distortion. I use the pickup from the bridge. I hope it helped!!

  • I tap with distortion on max, it sounds so much better. And no, the pick up is really personal preferance.

  • hi darkdevil1584. thanks a lot for ur answer . thanks.

  • when he was playing on the 2 and 1 string it kinda sounds like blackened by metallica

  • its based on the same scale.

  • Very useful indeed, well explained.

  • I know where he's going with this, too hot for teacher XD

  • its just Hot for Teacher. but ya! :)

  • The bit towards the end is a very useful tip, excellent video it ironed out the slight flaws I was making.

  • 7.30 o.o o snap.

  • @themooshyandkyleshow learn how to speak

  • @themooshyandkyleshow WTF you're right but please learn how to speak english

  • When you finger tap you have to kinda strum with the finger your tapping with, push down and strum in a really quick motion!

  • 3:43

  • nails are used for chicken pickin if youve ever heard of it

  • How about a part three to include a few pieces like Eruption or Hearbreaker (Led Zep)?

  • I play apreggies and I don't have nails.

  • the effect and the precision is completely different. if you played classic guitar you'd know

  • you know theres such thing as nail clippers....

    otherwise great tut thx alot!

  • paint your nails?

  • Ive honestly never seen this kind of taping before, and honestly don't like it much... not to say it wouldn't be usfull, and I'm sure ill give it a whirl sometime, but Ive mainly always liked the Van Halen single string tap that runs up neck.

Usually the majority of the players I know around town and have seen shows of, use that kinda of taping, maybe a vid on that?

Great vid regardless, love your channel!

  • ownage. u rule.

Very informative and easily understood. Rockon...

  • soooo awesome. i don't have a guitar teacher, but you're great lol.

  • are you allowed to use the index finger to tap? i'm pretty scared about doing something wrong when it comes to tapping

  • you can't do it wrong. it is just a matter of personal taste and comfort.

  • hes rite man. if u want u can hold the pick with ur middle finger between the top joint and the palm join, then it is easily acesible yet u can tap with the first finger... thats what i do if i dont use my middle finger

  • thanks man! i cant really get the hang of this one cuz im a noob (just got my guitar for christmas) but that first tap lesson is so good and i can amaze my family that i can do that...they dk bout like 7 finger tapping ...shhhhhhhh!

  • eruption would be cool =D

the first lesson is a part from eruption isnt it ?

    but nice lesson anyway

  • Halen probably used the same basics, but he was mostly original.

  • isn't that a Mode? wouldn't that be the Dorian posistion? and if it is a mode, why is he calling it a scale. whats the difference between a mode and a scale????

  • dorian is a minor modal scale, a mode is a scale derived from moving the spacing around on the diatonic major, which is TTsTTTs.

  • "I'm not a good fingertapper" What is that supose to mean?

    You rock!!

  • I cannot tell you how much your finger tapping videos have helped me. Thanks a ton! Also, is it OK to use my pinky instead of my ring finger to hold the fret? It slips a lot with the ring since I can't stretch that far.

  • wow so good thanks for the vid.

  • wicked ring man, where can i get one?
