  • The New Republic should be renamed: The Jew Republic. Like NPR [Nazi Pinko Radio], the Jew Republic is dominated by Left-Wing Jews like Jonathan Cohn & William Galston. It's getting so the term Left-Wing Jew is an oxymoron.

Q: Why are Jews so Left-Wing [80% voted for Obama]?

  • @vince33x Why are you such an asshole?

  • @vince33x . you're hate mongering is more dangerous to america than any "jew"

  • @vince33x Obama '''' left wing ''' you truly are an all american idiot .

  • united staes is too greedy, thats why we have horrible healthcare. if the big guns were actually NOT GREEDY, WE WOULDNT BE IN THIS MESS.

  • Wow you completely GLOSS OVER the WAGE AND PRICE CONTROLS of world war two, which were extremely instrumental in helping spread employer-funded healthcare around the country. CREDIBILITY FAIL.

  • I feel sorry for the American people... what they do over their is a crime!!

The UK has its faults, but one of the good things about it is its NHS, which allows everyone free medical care, as well as the drugs, and equipment a patient might need like a wheel chair for example.

    I hate the US gov!!

  • 主題是: H1N1嗎?

  • *****

  • If the government wants to do anything with bringing down the cost of healthcare, what about imposing some sort of tort reform to lower the malpractice insurance costs for doctors???

  • I'll go you one better...Criminalize gross misconduct and strip away the doctors and supporting guilty parties of malpractice activities from there ability to work in the medical industry and send those that cause a death to prison for life.

I personally believe malpractice insurance gives to a few the License to kill and cripple at the expense of Better , diligent practitioners.

If a doctor cut off your good leg and left you with the bad one, wouldn't you want and need compensation ?

  • Leftists have thwarted tort reform for decades, claiming it a scheme for the greedy.

An asinine assertion that presumes government can control greed and that the law makers are immune to such corruption, ironically it is most tort suits that display active and blatant greed.

  • Greed and corruption from our lawmakers? Lies and scandals? Nothing they do or say surprises me anymore. When I cast my vote now I feel I am always forced to choose between the lesser of two evils knowing that one candidate is not really very different from the other. Ultimately, they will all collect taxes from me and spend it in the foolish manner that has become their mantra. Now they are promoting socialism. I think our days of true freedom are numbered.

  • Because that would only lower prices MARGINALLY. It would barely, if at all, help lower costs.

  • Government doesn't want to lower the cost of healthcare, they want to provide healthcare so the people become more dependent upon them.

  • Well, I know the reason for not addressing the issue of Tort reform is because of the powerful insurance and legal lobbies...it's a cash cow for these fat cats.

  • Health insurance is expensive because of healthcare costs, not the other way around. All insurance does is reflect the fact a Dr. charges $300 per visit and $100,000 per day in the hospital. Why do medical providers charge so much is the question we should be discussing.

  • Ah yes lets get the former attorney Obama to hurt his fellow attorneys with limits to their profession. Better chance of Hell freezing over. I agree though that WILL lower the cost that medical providers need to charge to operate a positive cash flow.

  • Yes, because health costs started skyrocketing in the early/mid nineties when physicians and hospitals began having to pay for increasingly excessive malpractice premiums.

  • Canada health care sucks i know people who live in Canada and they come to the usa to get their care so they dont wait 4 to 8 hours just to see a nurse. They dont allow you to have many things done. Plus there are waiting lists for major surgeries a year long my firends mother died because she had to wait 6 months to have heart surgerie.

  • According to Bill Moyers health companies, drug companies and Wall Street lobbied certain politicians to keep healthcare as it is. This is all about money.

  • Why are Americans not clammering for a National Health Service? Universal health care is considered by most of us as a fundamental human right. Our Health Service is Britain is not without imperfections, but it is generally very good indeed, though probably the French model is the best there is. Why are Americans so keen to put millions of dollars into the hands of the health care companies?

  • Some people are using the healthcare situation as a means to discredit President Obama because unfortunately racism is still very rampant in our society. Instead of agreeing that our healthcare situation need reforming they are against for that one lame reason.

  • stop the wars and spending of trillions abroad use thaT MONEY TO INSURE THOSE IN USA WITHOUT,COVERAGE JUST THINK OF THE LIVES THAT COULD BE SAVED[PIECE BROTHER REMEMBER? KEEP IT SIMPLE AND STAND BEHINB YOUR PRESIDENT!!!

  • a reminder to all bush has spent trillians on war[killing and mamming those republicans due to there greed ,and pollitics are spreading lies and fear to attack the good obama is doing .stand behind your president we voted him, down with republican fear spreaders

  • If you haven't noticed, Bush is no longer president. Don't you think that continuing to blame him for everything is somewhat pointless? So now Obama is president, we are still fighting in Iraq and the conflict in Afghanistan is being escalated. Who is spending trillions on war now? Is it our democratic congress? Is it the Obama administration? Who is continuing to support and finance these wars? It can't be Bush, he is no longer in office. Wake up, you are being duped.

  • Shhh, stop making sense, it hurts delusional feelings.

  • I see on the news nearly every day that American soldiers are being killed in Afghanistan. Where are all of the "bring our troops home" protesters now? Bush can't be blamed for this one, this is Obama's war. I don't think people were listening when Obama said he would escalate this war during the presidential campaign. He kept his word on this one. What exactly is our objective in Afghanistan? This reminds me of the war in Vietnam and we all know how that ended.

  • i agree but the cult like following that surrounded him is not coming to terms with the amount of pride they're going to have to swallow to admit their hope was misplaced.

Obama is a secular saint, to admit his fallibility is to trample on the doctrines of humanism.

  • Watch Youtube Video: The Health Care Bill: What they DON'T want you to know!

  • video.google "Healing Cancer from the Inside Out" and begin to understand the history of health care and how utterly deluded most of us are. Also The Science and Politics of Cancer; The Truth About Vaccines; The Fluoride Deception; The Future of Food ...

  • So true. Something is wrong when there are more people making money trying to cure cancer then actually have it.

  • I am married to a Canadian. Before we were married, she broke her leg and her wrist on a Saturday morning. Within a day she was in surgery. She spent a week in the hospital and then about 5 weeks in rehab. Total cost: $165 for a wheelchair rental. Sure there are the rich Tories in Canada that want to go back to the for profit model, but they don't dare. The people won't stand for it!

  • I take back my original comment. This is the 1st issue I've done that with. After I rechecked my sources I found that it came from a former drug company shill of sorts and I was pissed. I suspect Obama's future plan will be much better in every way than what I had been previously led to believe.

  • There are 100 pages devoted to health care. Rationing systems are being snuck in the back door with this bill. It would be tilted against the elderly and disabled.

It is unconstitutional to give so much power to the government on such personal matters. She said that rationing systems are being snuck in the back door with this bill. It would be tilted against the elderly and disabled. Dont vote for the stimulus bill with unrelated this healthcare, rationing system snuck in.

  • ¿Rationing? Are still using such tactics in the U.S.? Seriously, I don't understand people's anxiety, by an universal free health care. There is nothing so basic as that. Moreover, I do not understand why any small European country can do it, and the U.S. say they can not.

  • The first step take care of those on the front line....Health care workers. I have known many nurses who cannot get health care or adequate health care. Like a mechanic who cant drive. TWISTED SYSTEM.

  • This left out so much it's not even funny. First off, the government forced employers to purchase HMO's with the HMO act in 73 I think. Also social security, does he really think that was a good idea. This simpleton needs to spend more time learning economics and less time reading shallow books that tell him what he wants to hear. Only the free market will give us a fair price. Not the gov, run one we have now. And yes, the gov has their hands in every aspect of our system which is why it sucks.

  • A short but valuable summary of what happened to healthcare in America. I remember when almost every place of employment offered good health insurance. It can't be denied that with the unions and big companies being driven out of business by allowing companies to move to cheaper third world countries, and failing school districts driving businesses away from communities, leaves only places even as big as Walmarts, to hire uneducated people from failing school districts, and govt doesn't get it?

  • USA is 37th in the world .... just above SLOVENIA ... USA health care sucks ...

  • I'm surprised America is ranked as high as 37. Jesus Christ, I thought America ranked 170th. USA healthcare does indeed suck.

  • And of course, the politicians never are honest with you about who the 47 million actually are. If you break it down, you realize that at least 10 million of those are probably people who CAN afford healthcare or just don't think they need it at hte moment so they don't get coverage.

Then some of those are illegal aliens, who shouldn't be here in the first place mooching off our system. That leaves us with about 20 million or so, far from the 47 million mark. No one ever gets specific.

  • Face it: Every system will have horror stories. That's just how life is. You can't expect to totally get rid of them with this or that healthcare system or alternative. The key is to try to minimize those problems. Be realistic about your goals, not live in a fantasy world.

Plus, I'm sure there are plenty of ways to give universal coverage (or at least cover the "47 million") w/o turning the entire system over to the gov't, like mike gravel's universal healthcare vouchers plan.

  • everyone wants this huge bandaid solution that will cure all the diseases in our system, but it's just NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Get back to reality, progressives. Your goal is noble, but your proposed methods for getting there are insane and unrealistic.

Stop letting the DNC just use UHC as the only thing on their platform to "fix" healthcare. Come up with some new ideas for once! This is why people call the Democrats the party of no ideas. You've been talking about uhc since 1948!

  • And btw, what's this BS of using that old buzzword "single-payer" when referring to it?? "Single-payer health care"?? WTF? How the hell is it "single-payer" in the first place? I thought our market system is SINGLE-PAYER! You know, because each person pays for his own health care or gets an individual insurance coverage.

Shouldn't UHC be alternatively referred to as "collective-payer health care"?

  • Sure, in most industrialized countries, everyone can afford healthcare, but the quality of it is so shoddy sometimes, what's the use? Is turning it over the gov't really the best idea? And what about letting each state decide what's best for them rather than forcing a huge gov't healthcare system on the entire country?? What about states' rights and localization (liberty)?

I'm sure there are plenty of horror stories in nations with UHC just like we have them here with our market system.

  • come on, guys! All the progressives need to stop buying into the universal health care shit. Sure, universal health care sounds great in theory, and it's good in principle to never have to worry about costs, but consider how high we'd have to raise taxes, for one thing. Or how much we'd have to extend the already overbloated gov't budget.

UHC leads to rationing and decreased quality. You can't rationally trade quality for affordability. It's stupid. We have to put the 2 together.

  • The more that I think about it, the more I wonder: IS there a health care "crisis" in this country? Or is it just mainly a lack of coverage and affordability that people bitch about? And then those same people go around saying "Well, if so many people are uncovered, the system must be broken." But of course, wasn't thist o be expected? After all, in a country with 3 trillion people and a large economy, some people are going to be left out. Of course, that does not excuse no solutions.

  • 300 Million people. my bad. Sure, there are healthcare horror stories, but the fact is, the number of people uncovered by health care, if you look at statistically, is only 15% of the total population. The other 85% seem pretty happy and satisfied to me. Sure there are problems to hash out, but does it mean totally overhauling our system for a small minority of people who don't get coverage?? I think not.

Gov't healthcare will not solve our problems. It's much more complex than that.

  • What I'm mainly saying is that people should stop and think for a second and ask themselves if universal health care is really the way to go. Will it cure us of all our healthcare problems, or will it just replace problems with insurance companies and HMOs with socialized medicine difficulties? I really doubt any sane person thinks that there are NO negatives about UHC, but too many politicians make it sound like paradise.

These problems won't go away just b/c gov't takes over.

  • Michael Moore got it right in sicko.

    Itzik Basman

  • I am one of the underinsured--I ALMOST DIED, because I couldn't afford the co-pay for the doctor--even tho' I worked full-time, 6 to 7 days a week.

The US healthcare system is a legal human rights violation.

  • USA health care is the worst among developed nations ...... USA is even below Bulgaria in democracy ..... AND goverment is saying freedom of speech and stuff .... GOVERMENT need control .... GOVERMENT is out of control WHICH is OWNED by Holding Corporations ....

  • Lol! Are you serious? By whose standards? The standards of universal health care? Our system is great! Only 15% of the country can't afford the healthcare. Sure, there are some other problems, but it's nothing we can't fix. In fact, we have perhaps the BEST treatment system in the WORLD!! People get surgery in hours or minutes, not days or weeks or months. Don't listen to those bogus UN or WHO rankings. They're biased towards UHC.

Don't act like UHC is perfect.

  • Editor, Capitalism stands for "every body for his own", while democracy crys out for a common good of all humanity. Isn't? Dear Editor, Again, Nick, thank you for caring to include me in your exciting debate.

    Regards,

    Gerrie
