Strangely, a political Science professor suggested that I consider listening to Alexander Scriabin. I was listening very intently to Tchaikovsky at the time. While i continue my humble study of Peter, I am in awe of Alexander. His sense of wonder speaks to the journey of humanity. Such hope, such intensity, such discipline.
I can't believe I never knew Scriabin's orchestral works. I guess I'd foolishly considered him an exclusively piano-centered composer. I was wrong! This is transcendent.
I fully agree. I love this music, and the landscapes chosen for the video are among the most beautiful I've ever seen. On the other hand, Ashkenazy is one of the best, perhaps absolutely the best when it comes to playing or conducting Scriabin, in my opinion. Thanks!

This sounds like a tone poem by sibelius, somewhat.

thank you for your comments, and yes indeed the landscapes are really beautiful, that's why I have chosen them to picture Scriabin =D

Agreed. I think Ashkenazy is a fine conductor in general.
