  • Hmm, I think this is actually much better than Richter, Arrau, and Serkin.

  • Yes, Tom, I am also ready to accept that Arrau could very well rise to that level,

and perhaps Serkin, but there was something special about that Richter recording. Have you listened to it? I also believ what you say about deLarrocha, would rather hear her play it than Arrau actually.

  • Simply colossal, better than both Rubinstein and Horowitz. The only performance on

a par with this is the legendary recording Richter made with Erich Leinsdorf and the Chicago Symphony in 1960, which is truly the Mount Everest of all Brahms B-flat concerto renditions.

  • @MISHA1119 NO. the only equally or better performance is Arrau's. Although i heard Alicia play this concerto live, and she was exceptional, FANTASTIC

  • This is fabulous. Will you post the third movement?

  • I had no idea Larrocha had in her repertoire Brahms'Op 83, she was great indeed..thanks for posting it

  • marvellous! those tiny hands really have their work cut out in the Brahms Bflat!! Any chance you could upload the 1st movement as well??

  • This marvelous live performance definitely not the one come from the Berlin RSO with Eugen Jochum (1981) which I had the recording, may I know the orchestra and the conductor in this praticular recording? Thanks ~

  • with Pittsburg in 1982 with Previn conducting

  • Thank you for your information!

I think this performance is much better than the Berlin RSO /Eugen Jochum, and the sound is better too. Previn is Alicia's favorite coductor.

I hope this live recording would make a commercial released one day.

  • May I ask which orchestra is it?

  • This amazing live performance definitely not the one come from Berlin RSO with Eugen Jochum(1981), which I had the recording, may I know the orchestra and the conductor in this particular recording? Thanks ~

  • Wonderful!! She is certainly one of the greatest. I have been a fan of hers for the past 50 years and I had no idea that she played Brahms.

Could you PLEASE post the other two movements?
