does the Dauntless ever do any actual dives with flaps out anymore? would be cool if some of the flight back videos had cameras mounted on the wing looking back at the plane.. or on hte rear looking forward! ;-)
Watch through the top holes at the 4:02 mark and you can see them extend down.
Our video named "SBD Dauntless Living History Event" in the column to the right is filmed from the end of the wing, looking back at the aircraft, like you suggested you would like to see. We are continually adding to the variety of view perspectives for Planes of Fame videos.
@TJDOZIER1 - HA! Well I guess not... I suppose all the Japanese carriers were taken out. I was just wondering if it ever did the extreme nose down dive maneuver anymore or if that is not something that the plane is really ready to do anymore.
As far as I know we have not simulated a true dive bombing run in the SBD, with the possible exception of movie/TV work. As far as is the plane really ready to do it anymore...all I can say is, if they want to go do it, I'll strap in the backseat and film it if they do!
