Ive been here since 09 and I like the city though its not as big and fast as Charlotte.....The only thing I would change is build a transit station downtown for the people who catch the bus..Cause the blocks between the Marriott and the Hess makes it seem Richmond is behind times......As I said I like it here and I plan to stay here...
I just came back from Richmond. Very friendly people and I found the city to be interesting. Fredericksburg was fabulous too. I would definitely go back again!
@Neverstop302 The Black Sheep Restaurant is AWESOME! Its really small so it can't support big groups but its soooo good!! Also visit Cary Town. It has a lot of nice shops--including For the Love of Chocolate!!!! <3

Are you kidding?? What city do you live in, Toronto? You obviously have never been to a "dirty" city. I'm from NYC and have been living in Richmond for 13 years and it is an incredible city. Did you visit the James River, Browns Island, Belles Isle? Did you go to the Canal Walk? Have you seen the Capital? What about the incredible Galleries and First Friday? Oh and Friday Cheers on Browns Island? Have you been to Maymont Park? Byrd Park? Driven through Carytown where all the cute shops are?
What about the Fan? Have you taken a drive down Hanover Avenue or Grove? Monument Avenue? Have you gone into Hollywood Cemetery and looked out onto the beautiful James River? Have you gone for dinner at the Tobacco Company and afterwards taken a walk down the cobblestone street in Shockoe Slip to get a cup of mocha at Shockoe Express? This city is anything but depressing and dirty. Maybe you should have another friend show you this incredible city or travel more.
For hillbillyville, USA this is nice, but a terrible city, I am going to Richmond tommrow and need some advice =3
