Every horse is fast in their own right, QHs are fast over shorter distances (sprints) TBs are faster in mile+ races, and Arabians last longer in endurance rides. No horse is better than the other. And those that say Arabs are just for show? Oh just stop it. They have as much versatility as any breed. So lets all just cut it out and get along. No more calling eachother out just because one person prefers one breed over another. We all love horses.

@TheExoticAnimal If you put the TB and the arab in the endurance race, I am going to put the 10k on the Arab, sorry. Arabians are not just meant for show, yes they look pretty, but that pretty look is all meant for what they were built to do. large nostrils to take in more O2, the clean throatlatch provided a clear path of O2, and the "missing" vertebrae help the Arab carry riders for long distances without getting tired, among many other characteristics. So study before you judge.

@TheExoticAnimal depends on where they are racing and how far the distance if its in the desert the arabian if its on a mile and a quater track thats nice and smooth then the tb if its on a track and is 3 or more miles the arab again.

@ShandyHorse oh i know there are faster. haha i wouldve let her go all out but the ground wasnt as good as i wanted. I was on a deadline so i couldnt reschedule. the fastest arab i know died last january at the age of at least 42. she was much faster even in her 30s :)

quarter horses are the fastest breed of any horse for short distances I own a quarter horse she does not run with me unless I tell her to but I have seen her run and man is she fast!

thoroughbreds are the fastest breed! at peak condition they can reach 56/kmph thats why they are prime racehorses! the quater horse has thoroughbred blood introduced into the breed to make it faster! its a fact, google it

@1002Lollipop my little arabian can out run any QH any time so it really depends on the horse. i have 2 arabians and they are so different it is crazy you can barely get one of them to hand gallop... the other you have to keep her from not galloping. so i mean it just depends on the horse. but my little arab that is kinda crazy but the best horse ever could out run just about anything... just about.... but my lazy arab couldn't out run a thing.

@1002Lollipop if you understand both breeds why would you say the QH is faster.... the TB is a man made breed... the Arabian is the only true purebred horse.... the QH and the TB both are based off the arabian some way or another!.. it has nothing about understanding the breed or liking the breed better.

Depends on distance. If your trying to see the top speed they can get then a quarter horse wins. Quarter horses can go up to fifty five and arabians thirty five. If it was long distance then the arabian will win but if its on speed the quarter horse wins.

Lol at these comments. In all factual reality, the QH is faster but only over short distances where as the arab will kick the QHs ass after a quarter of a mile when the QH has exhausted all it's energy and slows down.

@MesoLovesPeople1890 It depends on the types of muscle fibers the horse has, not the breed. If you look at shackleford, he is quite a bit bulkier than most TBs. This means that he has a larger number of fast twitch muscles (which comprise approximately 93% of a QHs muscle fibers), which allow him to run quite a bit faster than your average TB. Arabs have more slow twitch, making them slower, and the ability to last over long distances. Research your facts before cussing people out, just saying.

ALSO. It depends on the horses butt..... not the horse. The bigger the hindquarters, the faster it will go. the smaller the hindqaurters the slower it will go. My Appalossa is related to secertariat and Three bars/Mary Dee/War admiral and Man O' war and He is the fastest horse at the barn barn. He outran the 2nd fast's horse at the barn. And trust me, shes fast.

It really depends on the parents, race horse foals usually have at least one race horse parent. Arabians are horses with amazing stamina but quarter horses can run 1/4 of a mile faster than any other horse breed. The timing may have been off or something if there was a race with the horses side by side or something...

I have a full American quarter horse. I used to race my friends all the time they have anything from quarter horses, to thorough breds off the track, to arabs. I can't race them anymore because I have the fastest horse out of all 9 of us and I always win. I'm not bragging that I win I'm just saying my horse is the fastest I've ever seen. Shes a decedent from dash for cash. Btw that Arab is totally cute! :) and the fastest Arab I've ever seen.

may I point out that the quatrer horse proboably isnt the best representation of the breed. I use to have an arabian that could out run a quarter horse that I owned... but the quatrer horse was a plug, a sweet heart but he couldnt run ... bless him

@sadiemay14 Joey is actually an amazingly fast horse. merrylegs also was stunted because she was (most likely accidentally) bred around 2 or 3. her baby who is now 4 can outrun her. neither of them are purebred though. I just chose the closest i could find out of our 42 horses and I got the ones in best shape. joey is about 8 or 9 in this and merry is about 5. like I said in the description it all depends on the individual horse not the breed.

Hello? Quarter Horses are the fastest known breed of horse, ranging to 50-55-60 MPH and bred for speed, not distance. Arabians are fast, yes, but they were bred to be able to run and run and run for HOURS without getting tired, not so much as in speed. Yes, of course there are Arabians faster then QH's, but the QH is a natural born speed demon.

I have to disagree with you! it depends on the horse! most quarterhorses do western pleasure so they are slow, when arabians are just high spirited and go most of the time! I bet my barrel QUARTERHORSE could beat your arab! It is just the horse and how much you push it or pull it back!! just sayin!!!

Yea i agree with you I do most of the high speed western events and with arabs i know from expearance that they love to go and so they walk faster and are more "up tight"

But QH's are generaly more layed back but they can go when they want!

Its all in the horse and how it was brought up and trained and natural speed. and i kinda cheated. Merry is some quarter pony arab cross and joe is appy qh cross. :P got no good purebreds back then

@showjumpingirl21 quarter horses are bred for riding the fences in texas and cutting a cow to be branded or get shots they where bred for team penning to get certain cows from the herd. they where never bred to trot 2miles per hour and canter in a crippled way. and reining was to take all the moves they need to know when working and putting it to the extreme. hahaha well they where bred for there brain not how pretty they look.
