  • LOVE their new stuff! :D

  • Whoever came up for the parts of the song where they sing ''Open' your eyes' matched his singing style and chords and beat perfectly.

  • To those who claim Dallas' faith is gone, read this. It is not the case.

    go.standard.net/story/maylene-the-sons-of-disaster-hit-mojos

  • At first I hated their new sound, because it wasn't the Maylene I grew to love. But this morning I caught myself singing this, now I love it.

  • What happened to the old maylene? I understand change.. This is over produced butt rock. Huge disappointment. I was considering going to their show tonight too... Not anymore. Saw them in 2008 and 2010.. They were badass then.

  • @duleyws Cool story, bro.

  • Lia sent me here...I think I have a new favourite band :)

  • @theyukarimobile same :D

    they are so awesome :D

  • @munkemis Look at their old stuff, so much better. Not dissing this album, great album. But old stuff is amazing. Like Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, II, and III

  • man...such a great album...

  • My wife can give one hell of a lapdance to this song...jus sayin

  • @mrki11bot1 Your wife's a dude. . . jus sayin.

  • @mrki11bot1 I'd hate to see her.

  • you need to see the new music video with Danny Trejo and Lia Marie Johnson its epic.watch it at fearnet.com

  • wtf is this as a band they should pretty much fuck off

  • This song is absolute cookie-cutter garbage. Could not be further from their roots or the 3 other excellent albums they've produced. Fuck all you people supporting this bland, uninspired shit they try and pass off as Maylene, this is TRASH. Full lineup change and 180 turn in the wrong direction for arguably one of the most spectacular southern metal bands of today. THIS. SHIT. SUCKS. And only the true Maylene fans understand why.

  • @n10sityn10citys Full line up change would mean there are no longer original members. Dallas, who started the band, is still the vocalist last time I checked and I bet he would feel better knowing you aren't a fan anymore jackass. oh and fuck you too you whiny bitch t(-___-)t

  • @n10sityn10citys Lol, what a bitch you are. You must not have a lot of friends.

  • since when did they turn into a bunch of pussies?

  • @southernoutlaw13 They have to eat too bro. It isn't about mass appeal. It's about marketing. Just take it for what it is. No sense in being a hater, with things that you disagree with. These guys have bills to pay too...

  • Sappy stuff.

  • somethings wrong with the text, " idont belevie your the only one" ? how should i understand this, i think i know what happen to this band..

  • @raktar2 If you're implying that you think their beliefs changed, I think you're right... Listen to like the last song on the album. It makes me sad.. I thought they were believers but now it sounds like they aren't (I don't mean to judge but the lyrics basically show it). I never even knew if they were believers or not actually but I had hoped so. (And it would be really funny if you didn't mean anything about their beliefs and I completely misread you)

  • @Bradyarch Heaven forbid you like the music for the sound and not the faith.

  • @DarthBelda I'm confused as to what you mean

  • @Bradyarch Your statement pretty much says that "I don't like them anymore because it seems they're not Christian anymore." Heaven forbid their music be good without them being Christians 'eh?

  • @DarthBelda I don't dislike them, I just don't appreciate that their lifestyles aren't following after Jesus, even though I don't even know if they are or not, but the lyrics sometimes proclaim they aren't (at leas it sounds like it to me). And no, heaven not forbid their music be good without them being Christians...the music is still pretty slammin.

  • This is a great album, but it is not a Maylene album. That is where most fans are finding fault. I have seen Maylene live every time they hit southern california for the last 4-5 years. The last time i saw them...it was a whole different band. I don't know what happened, their live spark was gone...Dallas didn't express his passion like he used too. With that said, this album is a good work and a different style. Still love Dallas' work.

  • Melhor música deles até agora!!!

  • fricking sick song to hear, awsome!!!

  • nickelback cover

  • yea its different but who wants two albums that sound exactly the same, if thats something you want, then you might just be retarded

  • why are so many peeps dissing this album? this is my favorite maylene song. :O

  • Red Fang is the band, not red Dang

  • DUDE, YOUR ALL OFF BASE HERE. There's something to be said about a band that can do something different. If you ask me, this album sounds a lot like black Sabbath! (no complaints here) its different, but its good.

Go listen to red Dang. Great southern rock band

  • If ya don't like it, ya don't like it. There's nothing wrong with that, to many die hard fans are bashing people who didn't care for this one. I was a little disappointed on my first listen, but it's been growing on me a bit. Cant wait for V though!

  • i jus love them no matter what

  • Pretty good.

  • Diggin' how the top two comments are exactly opposite of each other.

  • This album was Kinda disapointting Love this band so much though!!!! :P

  • this sound like a generic southern band

  • this is bomb!

  • Dudes....you're better than this...

  • This is the only song I really like off the album. I think some songs like this are cool but they deff should have keep some screaming songs.

  • Comment removed

  • is it weird i fall asleep to this?

  • I was digging this until 20 seconds in. I tried, but i can't get into this album

  • Love this track, Fav on IV, next to Cats Walk & Taking on water. Y'all should check out "Bound South - Death Keeps Rollin'" You'll dig it, for sure............

  • new maylene. old maylene SO LEGIT!!!!

  • I bought the album last week and can't stop playing it.....Awesome Band....keep rocking :) replay.....replay......replay

  • awesome album \m/

  • I enjoy how they are progressively integrating more and more southern sounds into their music.

  • There is nothing wrong with this album. It's the farthest thing possible from selling out. If you want to talk about selling out, go listen to Metallica's recent albums. This is Maylene in a new direction, embracing the southern rock that already existed in their music. This song is absolutely fantastic, and one of the best that I've heard of the rock genre in years.

  • Not what i hoped this album would sound like, but i think everyone should give it a chance...now i love it maylene will always be great song writers there's not a track i skip on any album

  • wow. so average. bummer.

rollantumble does not approve of this new mother.

  • This song is killer, and so is the album. This is coming from someone with an open mind to music who also appreciates the band's whole catalog.

  • HRGNH!

    ...wat happened?

  • This band is so raw manpower in every way. It might not be the same as it used to be, but their beards remain.

  • word.....what happened to Maylene?

  • Great album to bad alot of their fans are going to be closed minded and cry like beaten dogs about the change/

  • @NoneBuriedDeeper how is this song different from their old stuff? really like this song as was thinking about looking up some of their other stuff

  • Jesus christ I got so into that intro and the singer killed it.

  • maylene received new fans - 50 year old redneck truck drivers. THIS SHIT BLOWS. if i wanted to listen to nickleback, i would have fuckin put nickleback on. "The ones who carry never back dowwwwwn!"

  • it was good until the singing... hes singing like one of those crappy pop punk bands out of hot topic... im sad :( they say bands have to "evolve" but this album sounds more like a "devolve" to me... this album is just bad... it wouldnt matter what band had made this album.. even if this album werent made by maylene i would still think this album sucks and that makes me all the more sad.. its like they ran out of ideas or something..

  • @DJxOCEANx Dallas Taylor is the best fucking screamer ever. This is like their only song where he is actually singing. besides listen close, oh lonely grave, and tale of the runaways

  • @TheFatAlmighty well i wouldn't go as far as saying he was the best screamer ever.. that would be david bunton of the showdown in my opinion. but i know dallas can sing.. its just not the same in this album. i haunt heard any screaming or his good singing in it..

  • @DJxOCEANx listen to In Dead We Dream

  • @TheFatAlmighty i already listened to that one. its good and its more like what i hoped for but its still just... idk...

  • I just miss their old stuff. Personally, This stuff isn't bad but I personally wouldn't buy the album. Maylene...come back to the people of Alabama the way you use to :(

  • I have been with this band since I first saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA. Guess what? In every album they changed it up a little kind of why I love them. They know what they're doing and if anyone ever says that Dallas Taylor sold out... Well, they deserve pain for such blasphemy.

  • 3:00 to 3:10 = best 10 seconds of my life.

  • Seriously though this album is great. I saw them at a show back in May and saw this change coming. This just what I wanted and I expected. Dallas has a great voice for singing and screaming alike. Maylene didn't "sell-out" or lose their meaning, they matured and evolved. Every band does it, get over it!

  • Haters gonna hate

  • @ikzxkokiri im so sad for u

  • Love this band til death!!!

  • why is everyone complaining? I guess everyone here is a fan of Asking Alexandria hahaha

  • @earthwormjan im complaining because it sounds like they are taking a step TOWARDS asking alexandria... it sounds like they softened up to gain bands from the pop punk crowd... i wanted them to take southern metal further, not dillute it and turn it to a punk pop band! i was hoping they would do a classic "bad, bad leroy brown" style song... guess i wont be getting that any time soon :(

  • i havent turned agains maylene im just saying that dallas has seamed to loose his reasons for starting this band, and this stuff seams almost like a totally didfferent band than what they started out as and that usually isnt a good thing to have a sudden style change cause u loose fans that way, im just hoping they put out a new album that is gunna be heavier

  • Dallas just went through a divorce, when you listen to this from that perspective, and see the meaning in the lyrics you understand the change. Maylene didnt turn on us, you turned on them all you so called fans who complain about it

  • Personally, I don't really care for the change, it's still a decent album though. But I enjoyed the last three albums better. Oh well hopefully their fifth will be awesome!

  • no u guys are all wrong these guys dont sound like anyone really and skillet is just a bunch of fakes, and sorry to all the maylene fans out their including myself but Dallas you turned on us,idc what other say, When a band changes their style drastically to put them in a different genre than They need to let their fans know before you release it and you didnt and the new album wasnt heavy at all except maybe 3 songs we want old dallas back!!!!!! This is one of the only good songs on IV

  • This band should be called Maybelline and the Daughters of Suck!

  • @drstench u know i actually like this band... but im going to agree with you on the sole reason that this album isnt worthy of being titled under the name of Maylene and the sons of disaster and should have a different name titleing it.. this aint even them anymore.. its like they tried to pull a sick joke on us...

  • @drstench you could do the sucking?

  • To all the people "hating" on the new stuff, you guys obviously are too closed to any change and cant even hear the lyrical depth of this album, its a really deep album and although very different its an amazing album, Great job Maylene! screw the people that are talking crap, thats exactly who the album is for, the fake people.

  • This blows! How long will this band last now? 1 more album max! By then the pop genre will have changed and this band will have NO fans! Fuck them!

  • @drstench Dude youre an idiot, can you not hear the depth of the lyrics in ANY of their new stuff? This new album is fantastic, yes way different, but its a direction the band wanted to take, if you want to listen to a band where everything sounds the same go listen to Nickelcrap

  • @mccloudadam And if I wanna hear a band that sounds like Nickelback, I'll listen to this.

  • Still awesome, I hope they make like 6 more cds haha

  • @Topher3519 people are too dumb to realize this. they hear one song and dismiss the entire album. not true fans at all

  • you guys go start your own band then. they make music for themselves. not your fat ugly ears

  • @macheteready typically bands make music AND their fans..

  • Sounds alot like Lo-Pro.

  • I'm a fan of a lot of music, and I've liked Maylene for the longest time and I can say I think I like this album. It's a little soft, but any fan of good music learns to take music as music and not bind a band so strictly to one sound.

  • and now we sit and wait for another two years...

  • Personally, I have loved maylene from way back in the day when they toured with The showdown and chasing victory. I loved every album except for III (which in my opinion was way to soft for their style), so seeing how they put some cleaner vocals in the mix and going heavy(er), I am all for it.

but you know what they say, haters gonna hate, trollers gonna troll, bakers gonna bake.

  • I smell a new popular radio song....lame.

  • WOW did they throw their musical creativity down the drain. This is awful. I wonder when the Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch and Nickleback tour when start.

  • @michaelmannucci hahahahah well said dude, this sucks so much

  • extremely different style...not bad though. solid riff

  • Now this band arrived to my attention with this great track

  • prolly my fav maylene song ever.. besides hell on the rise

  • @fladragon1 you're allowed to like this song even if I don't.

  • in time we will all reflect on this album as "when they started to suck". those of you who are hanging on for dear life, just let go.

doesn't make the previous 3 albums any less enjoyable.

    fuck this song

  • @jarofsap704 Yes, because them changing up their sound and wanting to take it in a new direction, means they suck. lol all this crying over a great band trying to do something different and fresh for them.

  • @jarofsap704 in time, you will die and no one will miss your ugly face. bugs will eat out your asshole when they put you in the ground. its one fucking song you moron. listen to the whole album.

  • Yikes. Just... Yikes.

  • one of the better songs of the century.

  • Sounds awesome! different but awesome. Nothing can beat Darkest of Kin though :P

  • What's with the hate surrounding the new album? Honestly, so it's a little more southern 'rock' and a lot less metal.. But whatever. They still put out good music.

Personally, I think they let the success of III's "Listen Close" mislead them into thinking everyone would be down with an album of Bon Jovi-ish stuff like that.

  • where can you pre order this from?

  • @Railfan88 Amazon MP3...

  • man I love maylene no matter what. Only a true lover of music will accept the bands chocies, and they didnt sell out, they became masters of music. a band with different faces and can do anything for the love of music.

  • i love the new maylene been a fan since 05 first two albums were excellent the III was ok but i love the first 2 new singles from this new one IV intro reminds me sort of "down's" "dog tired" whiskey sippin to this album on my birthday

  • Could care less what anyone thinks, this song is good, even for MATSOD. Who cares if they changed their sound. If you think you can do better, and continuously put out an awesome record every 2-3 years and not go soft at some point, then you are a freaking genius. Look at Fear Before (The March of Flames) Every album they put out was different yet awesome in their own way.

  • Well actually u can sample it on amazon and the album overall is different but im not hating,I actually like it. And whats cool is that dallas said it will be a surprise to old listeners. My opinion l and ll stuff will always stay at the top of their best stuff out but I thinks its cool that dallas isint afraid to switch it up a bit and honestly hes an awesome guy and he stays true to himself and really dosent care if people hate it

  • blah blah christ blah gospel.. they said themselves this band isn't christian, they are but the band is more of showing you all the things to NOT do, not preaching cheesy praise crap.. i love Maylene and im not religious at all, this is a bit of a different sound but really cut em some slack it's the first new song

  • I think everyone needs to calm their tits and realize that hardcore bands such as maylene SOMETIMES make songs that aren't heavy, but c'mon guys, how could you ever compare maylene to nickelback? For shame.

  • @FloorFourteen Did you listen to this? Too Bright to See, Too Loud to Hear is a heavy band putting out a song that isn't heavy. This is awful music. This isn't a matter of just the band "progressing", it's a different genre all together. This is sell out music, and that was their motive. Get the same crowds that bands like Nickleback have. They saw that the market for what they were doing was small and want to make more money. More money = Bad music.

  • @michaelmannucci i have to dissagree with you. firstly i dont think these are new songs. imo the sounds are too different alot of these tracks were probably deemed to soft to be added to previous albums, combined with the fact that they lost two guitarists(going from 3 to just 1) i think an album like this is quite fitting. i'll admit that i loved the heavier songs but musically i can't find anything wrong with this album. i dont see this as a sellout album.

  • @lop1uml But you're wrong lol. This is bad. It sounds like one of those lame Nu Metal bands. Linkin Park and Theory of a Dead Man

  • @michaelmannucci Really? you know this how? you sit and have a one on one with the band and ask them their motive? you obviously have no notable music knowledge if you are comparing this to nickelcrap...

  • @mccloudadam Buddy I can probably run circles around you musically. And regardless, a talentless person can tell this sounds like skillet.

  • @michaelmannucci probably a scene kid with a hurt butt cus no more throwing your arms around like a monkey every song!

  • @jakeny7 More like a musician who clearly knows far more about music than you do. Don't be a fag dude, it's not cool. PS Maylene knows this album sucks. They said it's a "go big or go home" thing. It's a sell out album, they wanna make money.

  • @kieferirvine this kids mad

  • Also, remember. These guys all follow Christ. They are trying to advance the Gospel. They just want more people to listen so that more can hear the gospel.

  • @johnedwardsparks The point of the band isn't to be a bunch of undercover evangelists. That would be deceitful and morally reprehensible. They're making good music for the sake of making good music.

  • @Elpolloloco52 True. I have never heard a statement from the band. It is a possibility, because they are Christians, that they are trying to advance the gospel, which is what Christ commanded us to do

  • wow,dallas,didnt,go,off,in,this,one,i,like,it,but,the,old,maylene,is,better,just,saying,i,like,the,change,but,they,sound,too,much,like,they,are,trying,to,conform,hope,the,rest,of,the,album,will,have,heavier,stuff

  • The radio doesn't support bands the fans do! No more crap rock guys! Don't turn your back on the fans that made you. A little progression is ok but do something new and different. The stuff on the radio all sounds the same. Maylene is supported by kids that want to hear stuff that doesn't sound the same as all the crap on the radio.

  • @xexdxgxex Isn't this something new and different? The intro riff is awesome, and though it may be "radio friendly" or whatever, this song still rocks.

  • i think i just puked....no i definitely just did.

  • I don't know if all the whiners have noticed, but they have changed their sound for every album. I love all their previously released stuff and from what I've heard so far, I'm pretty sure I'll love the new album as well. All you guys complaining, get your act together and support this amazing band instead of giving them shit for something they have done througout all their releases.

  • Just saw these guys live in ABQ, New Mexcio. Freaking amazing concert! Rock on MATSOD!!!!!!!

  • Is there an auto replay function here?

  • Pre-ordered this as soon as the song ended

  • @Topher3519 I see it on the tracks listed, so this will be on the album

  • @aquifer93 well yeah, but what I mean is that typically singles are more radio-friendly anyway...

  • it's perfect

  • All 3 albums did not sound different, they did begin to sing a little more but this is such a drastic change.

  • what is this, nickelback? XD comoon guys!, really?

  • I like the variety they throw out with every album. Their first was mostly dirty vocals which took me awhile to get used to, but now I like it alot. II and III had a similar sound, with II having a more half and half mix of dirty vocals and southern sound.

III is probably my fave so far with a more southern sound. The guitar breakdowns on III are awesome and have kind of an 80's feeling to them. I look forward to adding IV to my collection. One of the most underrated bands out there.

  • We have three albums that sound very similar its ok with me if they change it up a bit to sound like this. I love it!!!!!

  • This sounds a lot like CKY, which is cool

  • I love this!

  • Theres another song out from this album called "In Dead We Dream"

  • I believe this song will be nothing like the album, but i still think it's beautiful!

  • this is maylene?? what the hell?

  • Thats not Maylene. Sorry, that sounds like everything else now

  • @THEprojectMIKE what do you want? II or III just scrambled up and re-released?

  • @jakeny7 No, I want them to write new songs and not change their sound as a whole. How could you even say that? After II, if they released this, I would have said the same thing, would you reply with "what do you want? self titled and II scrambled and re released?" because III didnt sound like those 2 combined at all. What I dont want is a band. that I liked from the self-titled, just write something thats completely not their genre anymore, and sell out.

  • the song is good, but its not maylene and i hope the whole album is not like this

  • Trying to be mainstream. :(

  • Looks like III will be the last album of theirs that I will buy. If I wanted to listen to Shinedown I'd just do that.

  • @krinking good point

  • such a different style but i still love it

  • The change has been happening every time a new album presents itself. I think it's a beautiful tale. And I'm a stoked to hear more from IV.
