@munkemis Look at their old stuff, so much better. Not dissing this album, great album. But old stuff is amazing. Like Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, II, and III
This song is absolute cookie-cutter garbage. Could not be further from their roots or the 3 other excellent albums they've produced. Fuck all you people supporting this bland, uninspired shit they try and pass off as Maylene, this is TRASH. Full lineup change and 180 turn in the wrong direction for arguably one of the most spectacular southern metal bands of today. THIS. SHIT. SUCKS. And only the true Maylene fans understand why.
@n10sityn10citys Full line up change would mean there are no longer original members. Dallas, who started the band, is still the vocalist last time I checked and I bet he would feel better knowing you aren't a fan anymore jackass. oh and fuck you too you whiny bitch t(-___-)t

@raktar2 If you're implying that you think their beliefs changed, I think you're right... Listen to like the last song on the album. It makes me sad.. I thought they were believers but now it sounds like they aren't (I don't mean to judge but the lyrics basically show it). I never even knew if they were believers or not actually but I had hoped so. (And it would be really funny if you didn't mean anything about their beliefs and I completely misread you)
@Bradyarch Your statement pretty much says that "I don't like them anymore because it seems they're not Christian anymore." Heaven forbid their music be good without them being Christians 'eh?
@DarthBelda I don't dislike them, I just don't appreciate that their lifestyles aren't following after Jesus, even though I don't even know if they are or not, but the lyrics sometimes proclaim they aren't (at leas it sounds like it to me). And no, heaven not forbid their music be good without them being Christians...the music is still pretty slammin.
This is a great album, but it is not a Maylene album. That is where most fans are finding fault. I have seen Maylene live every time they hit southern california for the last 4-5 years. This is one of the only good songs on IV
@drstench u know i actually like this band... but im going to agree with you on the sole reason that this album isnt worthy of being titled under the name of Maylene and the sons of disaster and should have a different name titleing it.. this aint even them anymore.. its like they tried to pull a sick joke on us...
To all the people "hating" on the new stuff, you guys obviously are too closed to any change and cant even hear the lyrical depth of this album, its a really deep album and although very different its an amazing album, Great job Maylene! screw the people that are talking crap, thats exactly who the album is for, the fake people.
@drstench Dude youre an idiot, can you not hear the depth of the lyrics in ANY of their new stuff? This new album is fantastic, yes way different, but its a direction the band wanted to take, if you want to listen to a band where everything sounds the same go listen to Nickelcrap
I'm a fan of a lot of music, and I've liked Maylene for the longest time and I can say I think I like this album. It's a little soft, but any fan of good music learns to take music as music and not bind a band so strictly to one sound.
Personally, I have loved maylene from way back in the day when they toured with The showdown and chasing victory. I loved every album except for III (which in my opinion was way to soft for their style), so seeing how they put some cleaner vocals in the mix and going heavy(er), I am all for it.
but you know what they say, haters gonna hate, trollers gonna troll, bakers gonna bake.
WOW did they throw their musical creativity down the drain. This is awful. I wonder when the Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch and Nickleback tour when start.
@jarofsap704 Yes, because them changing up their sound and wanting to take it in a new direction, means they suck. lol all this crying over a great band trying to do something different and fresh for them.
@jarofsap704 in time, you will die and no one will miss your ugly face. bugs will eat out your asshole when they put you in the ground. its one fucking song you moron. listen to the whole album.
What's with the hate surrounding the new album? Honestly, so it's a little more southern 'rock' and a lot less metal.. But whatever. They still put out good music.
Personally, I think they let the success of III's "Listen Close" mislead them into thinking everyone would be down with an album of Bon Jovi-ish stuff like that.
man I love maylene no matter what. Only a true lover of music will accept the bands chocies, and they didnt sell out, they became masters of music. a band with different faces and can do anything for the love of music.
i love the new maylene been a fan since 05 first two albums were excellent the III was ok but i love the first 2 new singles from this new one IV intro reminds me sort of "down's" "dog tired" whiskey sippin to this album on my birthday
Could care less what anyone thinks, this song is good, even for MATSOD. Who cares if they changed their sound. If you think you can do better, and continuously put out an awesome record every 2-3 years and not go soft at some point, then you are a freaking genius. Look at Fear Before (The March of Flames) Every album they put out was different yet awesome in their own way.
Well actually u can sample it on amazon and the album overall is different but im not hating,I actually like it. And whats cool is that dallas said it will be a surprise to old listeners. My opinion l and ll stuff will always stay at the top of their best stuff out but I thinks its cool that dallas isint afraid to switch it up a bit and honestly hes an awesome guy and he stays true to himself and really dosent care if people hate it
blah blah christ blah gospel.. they said themselves this band isn't christian, they are but the band is more of showing you all the things to NOT do, not preaching cheesy praise crap.. i love Maylene and im not religious at all, this is a bit of a different sound but really cut em some slack it's the first new song
I think everyone needs to calm their tits and realize that hardcore bands such as maylene SOMETIMES make songs that aren't heavy, but c'mon guys, how could you ever compare maylene to nickelback? For shame.
@FloorFourteen Did you listen to this? Too Bright to See, Too Loud to Hear is a heavy band putting out a song that isn't heavy. This is awful music. This isn't a matter of just the band "progressing", it's a different genre all together. This is sell out music, and that was their motive. Get the same crowds that bands like Nickleback have. They saw that the market for what they were doing was small and want to make more money. More money = Bad music.
@michaelmannucci i have to dissagree with you. firstly i dont think these are new songs. imo the sounds are too different alot of these tracks were probably deemed to soft to be added to previous albums, combined with the fact that they lost two guitarists(going from 3 to just 1) i think an album like this is quite fitting. i'll admit that i loved the heavier songs but musically i can't find anything wrong with this album. i dont see this as a sellout album.
@michaelmannucci Really? you know this how? you sit and have a one on one with the band and ask them their motive? you obviously have no notable music knowledge if you are comparing this to nickelcrap...
@jakeny7 More like a musician who clearly knows far more about music than you do. Don't be a fag dude, it's not cool. PS Maylene knows this album sucks. They said it's a "go big or go home" thing. It's a sell out album, they wanna make money.
Also, remember. These guys all follow Christ. They are trying to advance the Gospel. They just want more people to listen so that more can hear the gospel.
@johnedwardsparks The point of the band isn't to be a bunch of undercover evangelists. That would be deceitful and morally reprehensible. They're making good music for the sake of making good music.
@Elpolloloco52 True. I have never heard a statement from the band. It is a possibility, because they are Christians, that they are trying to advance the gospel, which is what Christ commanded us to do
The radio doesn't support bands the fans do! No more crap rock guys! Don't turn your back on the fans that made you. A little progression is ok but do something new and different. The stuff on the radio all sounds the same. Maylene is supported by kids that want to hear stuff that doesn't sound the same as all the crap on the radio.
@xexdxgxex Isn't this something new and different? The intro riff is awesome, and though it may be "radio friendly" or whatever, this song still rocks.
I don't know if all the whiners have noticed, but they have changed their sound for every album. I love all their previously released stuff and from what I've heard so far, I'm pretty sure I'll love the new album as well. All you guys complaining, get your act together and support this amazing band instead of giving them shit for something they have done througout all their releases.
I like the variety they throw out with every album. Their first was mostly dirty vocals which took me awhile to get used to, but now I like it alot. II and III had a similar sound, with II having a more half and half mix of dirty vocals and southern sound.
III is probably my fave so far with a more southern sound. The guitar breakdowns on III are awesome and have kind of an 80's feeling to them. I look forward to adding IV to my collection. One of the most underrated bands out there.
@jakeny7 No, I want them to write new songs and not change their sound as a whole. How could you even say that? After II, if they released this, I would have said the same thing, would you reply with "what do you want? self titled and II scrambled and re released?" because III didnt sound like those 2 combined at all. What I dont want is a band. that I liked from the self-titled, just write something thats completely not their genre anymore, and sell out.
LOVE their new stuff! :D

I smell a new popular radio song....lame.
isu182 5 months ago
WOW did they throw their musical creativity down the drain. This is awful. I wonder when the Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch and Nickleback tour when start.

@fladragon1 you're allowed to like this song even if I don't.
jarofsap704 5 months ago
in time we will all reflect on this album as "when they started to suck". those of you who are hanging on for dear life, just let go.
doesn't make the previous 3 albums any less enjoyable.
fuck this song
jarofsap704 5 months ago
@jarofsap704 Yes, because them changing up their sound and wanting to take it in a new direction, means they suck. lol all this crying over a great band trying to do something different and fresh for them.
fladragon1 5 months ago
@jarofsap704 in time, you will die and no one will miss your ugly face. bugs will eat out your asshole when they put you in the ground. its one fucking song you moron. listen to the whole album.

Sounds awesome! different but awesome. Nothing can beat Darkest of Kin though :P
C50TV 5 months ago
What's with the hate surrounding the new album? Honestly, so it's a little more southern 'rock' and a lot less metal.. But whatever. They still put out good music.
Personally, I think they let the success of III's "Listen Close" mislead them into thinking everyone would be down with an album of Bon Jovi-ish stuff like that.

where can you pre order this from?

@Railfan88 Amazon MP3...
Topher3519 5 months ago
man I love maylene no matter what. Only a true lover of music will accept the bands chocies, and they didnt sell out, they became masters of music. a band with different faces and can do anything for the love of music.
burnholeproductions 5 months ago
i love the new maylene been a fan since 05 first two albums were excellent the III was ok but i love the first 2 new singles from this new one IV intro reminds me sort of "down's" "dog tired" whiskey sippin to this album on my birthday
jackmobile64 5 months ago
Could care less what anyone thinks, this song is good, even for MATSOD. Who cares if they changed their sound. If you think you can do better, and continuously put out an awesome record every 2-3 years and not go soft at some point, then you are a freaking genius. Look at Fear Before (The March of Flames) Every album they put out was different yet awesome in their own way.
unresolved777 5 months ago
Well actually u can sample it on amazon and the album overall is different but im not hating,I actually like it. And whats cool is that dallas said it will be a surprise to old listeners. My opinion l and ll stuff will always stay at the top of their best stuff out but I thinks its cool that dallas isint afraid to switch it up a bit and honestly hes an awesome guy and he stays true to himself and really dosent care if people hate it
pird19837 5 months ago
blah blah christ blah gospel.. they said themselves this band isn't christian, they are but the band is more of showing you all the things to NOT do, not preaching cheesy praise crap.. i love Maylene and im not religious at all, this is a bit of a different sound but really cut em some slack it's the first new song
ChestersANightmare 5 months ago
I think everyone needs to calm their tits and realize that hardcore bands such as maylene SOMETIMES make songs that aren't heavy, but c'mon guys, how could you ever compare maylene to nickelback? For shame.
FloorFourteen 5 months ago
@FloorFourteen Did you listen to this? Too Bright to See, Too Loud to Hear is a heavy band putting out a song that isn't heavy. This is awful music. This isn't a matter of just the band "progressing", it's a different genre all together. This is sell out music, and that was their motive. Get the same crowds that bands like Nickleback have. They saw that the market for what they were doing was small and want to make more money. More money = Bad music.
michaelmannucci 5 months ago
@michaelmannucci i have to dissagree with you. firstly i dont think these are new songs. imo the sounds are too different alot of these tracks were probably deemed to soft to be added to previous albums, combined with the fact that they lost two guitarists(going from 3 to just 1) i think an album like this is quite fitting. i'll admit that i loved the heavier songs but musically i can't find anything wrong with this album. i dont see this as a sellout album.
lop1uml 5 months ago
@lop1uml But you're wrong lol. This is bad. It sounds like one of those lame Nu Metal bands. Linkin Park and Theory of a Dead Man
michaelmannucci 5 months ago 2
@michaelmannucci Really? you know this how? you sit and have a one on one with the band and ask them their motive? you obviously have no notable music knowledge if you are comparing this to nickelcrap...
mccloudadam 5 months ago
@mccloudadam Buddy I can probably run circles around you musically. And regardless, a talentless person can tell this sounds like skillet.
michaelmannucci 5 months ago
@michaelmannucci probably a scene kid with a hurt butt cus no more throwing your arms around like a monkey every song!
jakeny7 4 months ago
@jakeny7 More like a musician who clearly knows far more about music than you do. Don't be a fag dude, it's not cool. PS Maylene knows this album sucks. They said it's a "go big or go home" thing. It's a sell out album, they wanna make money.

Also, remember. These guys all follow Christ. They are trying to advance the Gospel. They just want more people to listen so that more can hear the gospel.
johnedwardsparks 5 months ago
@johnedwardsparks The point of the band isn't to be a bunch of undercover evangelists. That would be deceitful and morally reprehensible. They're making good music for the sake of making good music.
Elpolloloco52 5 months ago
@Elpolloloco52 True. I have never heard a statement from the band. It is a possibility, because they are Christians, that they are trying to advance the gospel, which is what Christ commanded us to do

The radio doesn't support bands the fans do! No more crap rock guys! Don't turn your back on the fans that made you. A little progression is ok but do something new and different. The stuff on the radio all sounds the same. Maylene is supported by kids that want to hear stuff that doesn't sound the same as all the crap on the radio.
xexdxgxex 5 months ago
@xexdxgxex Isn't this something new and different? The intro riff is awesome, and though it may be "radio friendly" or whatever, this song still rocks.

I don't know if all the whiners have noticed, but they have changed their sound for every album. I love all their previously released stuff and from what I've heard so far, I'm pretty sure I'll love the new album as well. All you guys complaining, get your act together and support this amazing band instead of giving them shit for something they have done througout all their releases.

Just saw these guys live in ABQ, New Mexcio. Freaking amazing concert! Rock on MATSOD!!!!!!!

what is this, nickelback? XD comoon guys!, really?
ryonafan 6 months ago
I like the variety they throw out with every album. Their first was mostly dirty vocals which took me awhile to get used to, but now I like it alot. II and III had a similar sound, with II having a more half and half mix of dirty vocals and southern sound.
III is probably my fave so far with a more southern sound. The guitar breakdowns on III are awesome and have kind of an 80's feeling to them. I look forward to adding IV to my collection. One of the most underrated bands out there.
ToJen1981 6 months ago
We have three albums that sound very similar its ok with me if they change it up a bit to sound like this. I love it!!!!!

THEprojectMIKE 6 months ago
@THEprojectMIKE what do you want? II or III just scrambled up and re-released?
jakeny7 6 months ago
@jakeny7 No, I want them to write new songs and not change their sound as a whole. How could you even say that? After II, if they released this, I would have said the same thing, would you reply with "what do you want? self titled and II scrambled and re released?" because III didnt sound like those 2 combined at all. What I dont want is a band. that I liked from the self-titled, just write something thats completely not their genre anymore, and sell out.
THEprojectMIKE 5 months ago
the song is good, but its not maylene and i hope the whole album is not like this
