@PlatSoul I personally use a small flash led if I want an accurate focus, but when I shoot landscapes I usually set my lens to focus on infinity with an aperture around f8(If you don't have a lens indicating the distance then try to mark the infinity point on your lens while shooting in daylight..)
You can use a monopod for night photography if you buy attaching feet. I have a set that fits right into the base of my monopod. Of course, you still have to be still.
I do not recommend a particular brand of tripod as I feel that it is important for a photographer to investigate the type of tripod that they need based on their individual requirements. See my videos about selecting tripods
To answer your question about using a Monopod for night photography the answer here is No (in most situations) as you need to keep your camera absolutely still to avoid camera shake.
An alternative is, you can increase your ISO at the risk of introducing noise / grain
It is possible to take night photographs without using a tripod at all simply by increasing your ISO rating which will increase your cameras sensitivity to light. This will create the noise / grain in your photos. This will increase your shutter speed as well..
If you are taking photos of stationary objects like buildings I would recommend using a low ISO (say 100), a sturdy tripod and cable release.
Photographing people increase your ISO or use a flash.
