No doubt JB is a great guitarist but IMO his slick, creamed back hair, tinted glasses image just doesn't quite fit with a tribute to the slightly bedraggled Irish genius that is Gary Moore. It feels a bit like the public schoolboy rich kid is paying tribute to the poor working class kid who did good. Either way, a great guitarist but he has not got the soul or taken the bumps and bruises that GM has in order to be called a legend any time soon.
@scottyelliott2007 Nah, I respectfully disagree. Joe works harder than almost any musician I know and has for many years. I welcome his "look". Being tired of the dissolute look as a shield. However I completely agree that Gary Moore was an Irish genius guitarist/vocalist and will shout it out with you.
@scottyelliott2007 really? you're concerned with his "look". where i'm from i don't listen with my eyes. This guy kills it. i wouldn't care if he rolled up in a clown suit and smelled like eggs.
I cried when i heard this, two of my all time favourite guitarists, Gary Moore may not be around anymore, but his music lives on. A truly beautiful tribute to the late GREAT Gary Moore. Thanks Joe xx
I think Joe was trying his level best to remain respectful and not to steal the spotlight from Jack Bruce. Having the insight to allow Bruce to direct the direction of the jam, especially on a song Bruce co-wrote was a wise and professional move. I know Joe could have cut loose and taken the jam to a much higher plane, but what would that have proven? How much of a jerk would he have appeared to be if he did and the jam fell apart? It was good for what it was, a tribute to Gary Moore.
@Jakexx01 Totally agree Jake- and very well put!! Jack is my man, and Gary too, but BBM was my favorite lineup of his, though I don't know everything. Also 'Blues for Greeny', the great P.G. tribute.
This guy restores my faith in musicians. As a kid of the 70's I was spoiled with all the great writers and musicians. The last few years almost all I've heard sucks out loud, a bunch of shitheads singing in front of a computer! We will be playing Joe Bonamassa for a long time. Thanks Joe.
Joe is the best. I believe he toned down here out of respect for Gary. He is better than anybody else but chose not to outshine the great one. This is a fantastic tribute and a sign that Joe has great respect for people that influenced blues and rock.
No-one will ever be or come close to the musical talent of Gary Moore, but this is some fantastic playing, nice interpretation regardless whether you like it or not, i'd love to play like this...
@CharveI *I'm a huge J. B. fan, but Gary would have played this far better*
I'm a HUGE fan of the blues & guitar playing in general and unless a rendition is completely shitty, I'd don't like saying this one or that one is... *better*.... Afterall, is an orange better than an apple? Joe performed a great tribute here to one of my fav players and why not leave it at that?
"When I went into the studio to make my first album with Racer X, I took Gary Moore's 'Corridors of Power' with me so I could show the engineer what I wanted my guitar to sound like. I have loved Gary's sound and especially his playing ever since I first heard him. He had quite possibly the most aggressive vibrato and picking attack of ANY guitarist. I'll miss him, and I'll try to bend my strings even more, in tribute to his musical spirit."
@680540 Listening back to the old Gary solo albums, I just realized how much Paul really took influence from Gary! It really just hit me, haha! The wide-ass vibratos, the picking fury and the screaming bluesy licks all came from Gary's influence. Amazing.
@680540 Michael Angelo Batio, Joe Stump, Paul Gilbert, Chris Impellitteri, Greg Howe, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Andy Timmons, etc................. Gary Moore had a huge influence on almost all top shreders and their technique. He is considered as the first real speed guitar player.
@680540 Paul .. Thanks for leaving any attitude that I figure you probably don't have anyways, and being so honestly open with your feelings for Gary's accomplishments. I have followed your career quite closely as well and must indeed congratulate you for all of your successes. I last saw you tearing it up at The Berkeley Community Center along with Joe Satriani. Hope to see you again sometime soon. I also miss Gary..And keep on bending them Brother!

BERLIN (Reuters) – A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar to the one in "Nordrach" by the band Jud's Gallery not to have been copied

the aircon grills in the Festival Hall ceiling resonated with every note Jack hit on his bass. Extremely annoying! Still was a great gig and nice tribute to Gary Moore.
@totalcontrast Nice! I'd love one myself.. If I had the money! For a 'non-bulk' amp-builder, his amps are a fair price! Now to save up.. Haha... But seriously, great amps!
@ScageyGuitarist - I doubt you will find anything more useable in the size range (1x12) It's perfect for just about every application. Jesse really deserves the exposure. He's worked hard at developing his range and he is easy to work with too. If you have a tone in your head...he'll help you make it happen.
Bonamassa is great for interpreting the great British bluesmen. He steps so easily into the shoes of Clapton, Moore, Green etc. Great tone and great style ...
Very limited playing and music. The only thing half decent about Bonamassa is that John Norum likes him somewhat. lol.

heres only 1 thing missing here. "Joe T the Englishbluesman".
hes the one that should be playing with jack bruce here.
dont get me wrong, joe b.is a great player, but no comparison to Joe T.
Joe T,is the most authentic and creative english sounding guitar player in the world today.
to prove my point,go to Joe t's youtube site.
its simply called, englishbluesman ;
im sure you'll agree

Bonamassa is great for interpreting the great British bluesmen. He steps so easily into the shoes of Clapton, Moore, Green etc. Great tone and great style ...

the aircon grills in the Festival Hall ceiling resonated with every note Jack hit on his bass. Extremely annoying! Still was a great gig and nice tribute to Gary Moore.

@ScageyGuitarist -Yeah! Jesse makes great amps. I have a model 20 with an old blue.....it's awesome!

Oh man, that was intense! So heartfelt. Superb tone from Joe's guitar. I had goose bumps all through watching that. Thanks Pete, for a great post.
