Noro Striped Scarf - Combined Two Strand Cast On Method

Great video, very clear and helpful! I know this is a couple years after you posted this, but hopefully you'll see this! Intriguing cast on; I found it looking for ideas on the best way to cast on for the Noro scarf, as I'm finally going to make myself one. My question: does this cast on count as the first row of stitches? So the next row would actually be Row 2? Thanks!

I'm always so amazed at how many ways there are to cast on. I marvel at them all. It too me a while to get it all straight, but I do appreciate the help.
