  • Also Why are we listening to a person who is making things worse to prove her point? I bet they werent terrible conditions but when she got there she neglected them maybe even killed some to make the place look bad.

  • PETA fucks things up in order to save the animals. When I was about 10 I went to a little animal showing in a local mall and had my pic taken with a baby jaguar. Later on I found out that the security guard at the mall was apart of PETA and he opened all the cages and a larger animal killed the the cub.

  • I admit that there are places like this but my petsmart is very clean and while I admit the some of the mangers are a little clueless on proper reptile vitamin care. But they do keep them healthy and are good groomers and care takers. A person below me was right you can not generalize just the petsmart chain by just one! Any one who does is just ignorant and a person who will believe anything they are told.

  • Every PetSmart I've been to was clean and the animals were healthy and happy. Petco, however was just sad. 20+ rats, mice, and hamsters per cage, well aquarium, a dirty dirty aquarium at that. A lot of them were sick and had mites, one had a crusted over bloody nose and was breathing really fast, not moving. I bought a baby rat to be company to my rat, I bought my other rat a petsmart, and he had an upper respiratory infection.

  • if i seen that i wold go up to the person who owns the place and say something and i wold do something about it

  • It looks like she just wanted to make PetSmart look bad. If that weren't the case, she would've done what she was hired to do. Care for these poor animals. I do not deny, by any means, there are places like this. But to generalize a chain of stores based on your "experience"? Who's to blame here? During HER position at PetSmart as a PET CARE SPECIALIST, 100's of animals died. Perhaps holding a video camera and filming these pets if they got sick or injured, was not a good idea.

  • As sad as that is...did u ever for one second think that if u did the job right u would have noticed b4 their health got so bad and took them to a vet??.. Im not sure how it was back then but now a days petsmart get betta fish in the cup that they are sold in.. Yes lots of pets die but ur job was to prevent that and giv thm proper vet care .. People die too.. Doctors cannot save everyone unless u get the meds and care u need

  • I bought a fish from there, and it died over night...

  • NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!! THESE FUCKING TARDS PISS ME OFF!! how do i signs up to be a part of PETA...

  • I don't go to my local pet smart it's a huge corparation I support my local pets shop I've been for 3 years since it opend I can trust the owner with my reptiles

  • PFFFFFT... Some "PETA insider"... If you worked there for 21 weeks you'd know P&P that states signs of stress or illness an would have alerted someone to a distressed animalBEFORE it died. Petsmart spares NO expense in saving animals- regardless of their "worth". This coming from a DEDICATED manager at PETSMART

  • @BananaNutNoodle maybe YOUR petsmart... but im sure THOUSANDS of others are alot like this one her... you are fucking blind. pet abuse is UNACCEPTABLE.

  • @BananaNutNoodle i own a snake.. and i feed him mice and or rats.. and they dont even suffer that much..

  • i've heard of this but i've never seen actual footage thx alot for the info

  • "PETA" stopped watching the moment I saw that.

PETA paid fur farms to skin animals alive so they could film it.

  • not true I work at Petsmart and we take really good care of our pets and make sure they get treated with care

  • @animalloverblw Just because you're s does, does not mean others don't.

  • i actualy dont know wether to buy more or stop because the more you buy from them the less there are left to rot alive in there cages then again the more you buy from them the more reward and money they get im confused reply telling me what to do

  • PETA lol

I hardly ever shop at Petsmart anyway, I like supporting my small town local pet store

  • if people stopped buying them they would stop selling them... If you have a dog, cat, fish, gerbal, snake, or whatever your the source of problem. In exception if you live on a farm a dog would be useful to protect crops and cattle... See say you buy a fish, then you gotta buy a fish bowl, then you gotta buy fish food, filter, water puralizers, countinously make revenue for them, so they say to themselves were making alot of money of this, we need more. When will people learn.

  • @abcGoGetter or you could just make your own tank and equipment needed

  • @nickelback2275 I guess your going to capture the fish from the wild and create your own food supply for them aswell.

  • also they had peacock eels with cory cats and the cory cats would suck their sides which cause bleeding and swelling of the skin on these eels. no tubes for them to seek shelter and the gravel is rough on their bodies. they kept infected fish in the same tanks with some what healthy fish , they dont put them in a treatment tank .also i would imagine that they have mutiple tank set up to the same filter witch causes these infctions to spread at a now rapid rate. last not enough tank and supplies

  • now seeing dead fish in any big name petstore like petco and petsmart is quite common and the only way to prevent that is to bring actual fish specailist that have had experience dealing with fish and curing them of common infections. hell i go into these petstores and teach the workers about fish they have and thats bad because that means they dont give a fuck and they have no knowledge of what their doing. they overstock tanks they mix certin breeds that shouldnt be together

  • awww:( it makes me sick.

  • This is horrible.

  • Animals feel emotions, they just lack the ability to comprehend them.

All animals get scared or angry; feel joy or sadness; even at times feel the loss when a friend dies.

No matter how small or simple an animal is it deserves respect.

Lack of care or attention in petshops is why these animals die. When you buy an animal observation is key; the more you watch over them the better you understand what behavour is normal and what isn't.

No excuse for petshops, they are just as responsable.

  • I dislike how these animal rights activists attribute human emotions to animals. They are not capable of abstraction or anticipation. By no means do I say this as a justification for mass-production animals, I just feel an approach to muckraking animal cruelty should involve less emotional appeal and a little more logic.

Being a human, I value human life (dogs too ;D) over other animals. It is simply a rule of nature.

  • @SaucyJake

How do you know that animals are not capable of abstraction or anticipation? Are you Vet? some kind of doctor? Didn't think so (and no being a bill coder or a damn receptionist at the local dentist doesn't count as one ignorant prick) Animals feel, sense and above all things respond to interaction. You have NO human emotion, and a mind of a damn snake (as ironic as that may sound) difference here is that the snake thrives on instinct, while your sorry ass on ignorance.

  • @ccangari I study neurobiology and abnormal psychology. Part of what distinguishes humans as a species is our ability to abstract our environment and to anticipate the future. Something other animals, including primates are conclusively incapable of.

Heh, I can tell you have human emotion and perhaps rely on it a bit too much.

I am NOT justifying this cruel treatment of animals, just stressing that it is natural for social species to put the welfare of their kind over another.

  • I have to say that PETA is like SOPA. They have noble goals, but they are going in the completely wrong direction to implement them. For example, PETA wants kids to become vegetarian and/or vegan, so they have a page devoted to making kids not eat meat anymore (look it up). WTF? People have been eating meat for thousands of years and you want them to stop for the sake of mistreatment of animals? If animals are being mistreated at a PetsMart, don't badmouth it. Take action.

  • My little hamster, Rosie, died of wettail last year...She was a teddybear hamster and apperently they are born with wet tail disease? :(

  • I agree this is bad living conditions, but stopping te sales entirely for these stores? PETA got pissed off at Barack Obama for killing a fly during one of his pre-presidential interviews. In my opinion, PETA is just a bunch of liberal extremists who believe an animals life is more valuable then a human being. I don't agree with that, nor do I agree with the maltreatment of animals.

  • THATS NOT CRUEL its just nature and life...

  • @cookiedough451 IT IS CRUEL THEY DONT TAKE AFTER THEM THE PETSMART SHOULD SHUT DOWN FOREVER AND ITS NOT HOW LIFE GOS I WANNA STOP NECLECT AND CRUELTY SO DONT SAY THAT STUFF!!!!!!!!

  • I'm with you.... 100%... But if you were the Petsmart small pets specialist... Isn't it your job to look after these animals? Is it not your fault they died?

  • Wow. I have been made aware.

  • This isn't the answer at all. Say this IS going on. Say they're abusing these animals, puppy mills exist and, I agree with you on the beta fish. But a forced ban on the sale of all animals is so ignorant. They should just house/treat them better and employ board certified veterinarians. Nobody will stop eating beef, wearing fur, or buying pets. But you CAN get them to change how they treat animals BEFORE they become those things if you don't try to force your views on them all the time.

  • if you were the pet specialist, wasn't it you're fault they died?..

  • This is really sad and disturbing. I feel sorry for these animals.

    :'-(

  • yes... dont go to petsmart to buy their stuff.... dont go buy anything anywher, since business is business right?.... i mean by not buyin any of their stuff would totally help the animals we have at home......

  • @NOVADAWG27 not bad for free meat

  • u know she should help the animals instead of well.....I dont know..... RUNNING AROUND WITH A FUCKING CAMERA VIDEO TAPING THEM DYING WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NOVADAWG27 Well, she probably did. But she could show the police this, video and that petsmart will get in shit. It's also to show us what these animals are going through.

  • As a Pet Care Associate myself at Petsmart, I can tell you right now I'm a big advocate of animal welfare and all of my kitties were adopted. However, I don't know where the heck you were working but at my store we don't have all these problems. The reason sick animals are kept in the "back" or, as everyone else calls it, "Isolation" is because it isn't SAFE to keep them with the healthy animals. With weekly trips to the vet, our animals, if sick, recover quickly. Death is rare at our store

  • I wonder, If we took data about how many animals pet smart killed, and how many PETA killed... who would be in deeper water?

  • Ok... So she was the pet care specialist and "100's of animals died during my short time at pets mart"... Doesnt seem like she was really doing her job, and was more about filming all the dead and dying animals..

  • Oh, and I think it depends on which PetSmart you're at. Because I got two gerbils and they lived for four years, which is exactly how long they're little life spans are. I took them to a vet right after and they were totally healthy. Same thing with my guinea pig, only she isn't dead yet. She is still quite happy, healthy, and loves strawberries.

  • LOOK I'm not boycotting PetSmart, because by buying the animals...you're taking them AWAY from this cruelty. By not buying the animals...you're letting your pet be treated this way. BAM. Just blew a hole in your argument.

  • I hate Peta, but honestly Pet Smart does tend to be pretty shit about taking care of their animals. I saw a leopard gecko at my local Pet Smart that was literally completely gray, and couldn't walk fast enough to catch a cricket. Fully grown, kept in a 8"x6" box, tons of shed/poo in the cage, no clean water... It broke my heart.

  • Not all Pets Marts are bad some are some aren't it depends who is running the place, the only complaints I get from Pets Marts and you can ask anyone who works within my industry about this is Dog Grooming, I have been a Professional Dog Groomer for 4 years. But I have had 30 different dog owners say their dogs were mistreated due to their old age there as old dogs take more time to groom. Once again not all Pets Marts groomers are bad some are some aren't depends on the person.

  • Don't buy animals from pet stores. Don't buy anything from pet stores that sell animals.

  • PETA is a joke.

  • 294 are petsmart workers

  • i bought a ball python from pet smart... IT HAD TO LAST TEN MONTHS WITHOUT EATING AFTER I BOUGHT IT... because... it was sick and i tryed everything to try to feed it but nothing worked :'(

  • Comment removed

  • not a fan of pet mills by any stretch of the imagination but this is trully a worst case scenario. Ive been in and out of petstores my entire life and never seen anything remotely like this. Fuck PETA I ate a squirrel this morning, true story :)

  • @dreadfulcreation I LOVE SQUIRREL STEW!!! ima coonass btw

  • @dreadfulcreation what do they taste like lol

  • and they say the money they make goes to animals in need those animals are in need:O

  • PETA sets puppy mills on fire... because apperently it saves dogs

  • um... i just bought a robo hamster from here and every animal seemed really happy maybe it is just your petsmart...

  • i had to stop it at 1:22,,,, i couldnt take anymore! i just got a hamster from there, everybody does! no one can stop i! its a popular store for animals!

  • Petsmart sucks ass

  • Your just mad because you got fired both times and now have no life so make little videos like this to get back at them.

The PetSmart in my city is wonderful, I am great friends with the employees and have seen all the behind the scenes stuff.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU SHOP AT PETSMART, THEIR PRICES ARE BETTER AND THE STAFF IS GREAT TO CUSTOMERS!

  • @BarMaxie hmm i wonder if you read the description but the description clearly said "i did not make this video"

  • wut about petland?

  • That's why I don't like petsmart

  • I just don't like how they keep for example:5 mice in a cage together and then they had 1 mouse in the other cage alone RIGHT next to the cage with about 5 other mice...i don't get why they can't put the lonly mouse with the others. It may have had somthing wrong with it though. But still

  • @skylarsue2 The animal may have aggression issues, it may be a male and the rest female and they don't want runaway breeding.

  • PETA is just dumb and don't know anything.

Why would Petsmart order pets, and then spend hundreds of dollars caring for the sick ones? It's not worth the 10-20 dollars they get out of them to spend hundreds saving them, it's just the way it goes

  • PETA needs to go play in traffic. animals die. its a way of life. not all of them make it. wow. grow up people

  • PETA people eat tasty animals :3

  • it's funny how people don't know to dislike it for agreeing with the vid or liking it for agreeing with the vid!

  • PPPpppppffffffffffffffttttttt

  • If you worked there for 21 weeks, why didn't you change the water dishes or actually do something to help the animals? I know you were probably assigned to a certain department, but I highly doubt anyone would stop you from changing water, feeding, cleaning cages, or giving any of the animals a bath.

I don't care for the big pet corporations either, but you can damn well bet that if I worked at one, I would do whatever I could within my means to care for the animals there.

    Hypocritical much?

  • @SpiderShane1 Because PETA doesnt care about helping out they only care about making others look bad

  • @Lolzorpantz What does PETA have to do with my comment?

  • @SpiderShane1 You asked whoever is talking why she worked there for 21 weeks without doing anything, and this girl is with PETA

  • @Lolzorpantz Oh, I did not know that.

I agree, PETA is pretty lame. And I'm a HUGE animal lover as well. I keep reticulated pythons, tarantulas and various invertebrates, 2 dogs, a bird, and a cat, yet when I try to tell people how lame PETA is, they assume I'm an animal hater or something. PETA and compassion are not synonomous, they are just crazy hippies whose agenda has completely overshadowed the issue of animal welfare. Almost more of a gang than a nonprofit group these days.

  • @SpiderShane1 words outa my mouth

  • Wow, that was disturbing. I don't think closing the store is the only option though. They could just start over and hire people who actually care about the animals, and who are willing to work hard to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals.

  • Here's what was behind closed doors at a non-chain store I worked at. The other employee sucked, had 2 guineas left with wet tail, and I caught on they were terribly sick and they were treated asap. Fish were left rotting, and making other fish sick. Then when I worked I sifted through ALL tanks and cleaned out the sick fish, did water changes (bettas too)... It isn't the STORE. It's the PEOPLE.

  • 0-0

  • this is so gross....im emotionally disturbed............

  • @sailorb1959 Then mine must be immortal it's it's on it's 4th year.

  • Okay people, Peta does exaggerate, But should we just ignore all the fucked-up shit this video shows Petsmart does?! I don't understand how people claim they "love animals", but then just watch this video and not give a fuck.

    Fuck You.

  • obvously you wernt a pet specialist where you? peta is crap and we all know it

  • Comment removed

  • I Got A Hamster There I Named Him Regie And He Died Two Minutes After I Got Home :'(

  • Its a fucking rat send it back to the sewers u dumb bitch

  • @GetBennidover Rat's are living creatures!

  • PETA makes EVERYTHING look worse than it is, i dont wanna make it seem like i dont care about animals,. but like 70% of this video was talking about rats and mice, i see them dead everywhere and atleast petsmart has the decency to clean and remove the dead rodents. i used to believe peta was telling the truth about all the stuff that happens, but they go and find the worst places to make a "documentary" and say thats how it is everywhere,

  • Comment removed

  • I dont want to sound like a dick BUT this is BS. my pet smart takes wonderful care of there rodents and birds and in fact I got a hamster from pet smart a few years ago and she was happy and healthy and lived for 3 years!

  • @sailorb1959 pet smaart is fucking wack i will never buy from pets smart agin i bought a ball pythong and it had kinks and wouldnt eat

  • @sailorb1959 you don't sound like a dick I also work at a PetSmart and our animals are completely spoiled. Especially the conure that we named Kiwi. I had a hamster that lived for 3 years as well that I bought from my store.

  • This is very sad. I can´t help but feel hate. This is sickening, why is it so hard to treat animals with love and care? Animals have feelings!

  • fuck peta.

  • I couldn't watch the full 1st minute of this!!!!

  • hundreds died in YOUR care you said it yourself

  • @TheJudger94 What can she do? Save them all? Doubt it.

  • i betcha all them animals died before they looked at her lol

    PETA SUCKS!!!

  • @eveis4ever i mean because not before

  • If u buy them u save them

  • If she as the pet care specialist wouldn't it be her fault all them things died?

  • silly PETA, go home and eat lettuce..

  • Yes betta fish r treated like shit in every pet store and I dont get y...... I have mine in a tank big enough for 6 fish and it is way happier now then it was in that lil box tank the pet shop told me that was made 4 it....

  • @WH1T33Z Betta splendens, the most common species of Betta in the trade lives in puddles and ditches which have filled with rain water. they do not need a filter system in their aquarium since they have a chamber organ to breathe gas air instead of liquid air. fish don't feel "happy" or sad, they mask pain very well and their brains are too small to have emotions :D

  • this dumb bitch, they keep animals in the back in an isolation room, so they dont get anyone else in the store sick.

  • This sounds way over dramatized. While there may be some truth to this, you assume way too many things. You also carefully word things that are not bad to make them sound horrible.

There's no reason a Betta can't be shipped like that, providing they are taken care of upon arrival, not shaken around in the air, and videotaped.

  • @Andyarr also that may be a case-specific example of poor employees or management, not representative of all petsmarts. No I don't work there, I just think your company-bashing is sickening.

  • "During my time working alot of them died" WELL maybe someone should have been doing there JOB better...

  • a person i knew once told me she had 2 female hamsters in a cage together she brought frm the pet shop NOT good!!!! OR A WISE IDEA.. because they will fight till death weither its male or female they can be ok while there still young waiting to be sold and seperated bu iv seen them as young as 3 weeks old fighting and it can becum a problem thats why i used to have spare cages as a back up.. but when she told me one killed the other i wasnt surprised atall weither its male or female x2 etc...

  • hamsters shud be at least seprated and sexed arround 6 weeks old i used to sell baby hamsters to a pet shop and had to sex them for the shop if you dont sex them as soon a the start to become independant they can fight and they will kill each other even a male or female hamster in the same room in diffrent cages can communticate espcially males because they will fight a male gets one sniff of a female and bam he will go mad wanting to mate... iv seen concecenquences of males fighting ouch!!!!

  • that pet shop tho sounds dirty and sounds like neglect to me ,,, my hamster has a medical poblem with wet tail and when it happens i do attend to his needs i do not neglect him,, my old landlord wouldnt fumigate my flat and i had to get eviormental helth involved etc on his case to move i had to take my hamster to a friends house for him to stay and i stayed why i was recovering frm it aswell but the flat was so bad even i cudnt breath sometimes i had to stay at my friends until i got new place

  • as for agressive hamsters there are ways and means of handlen them a friend of mine cudnt handle hers or even touch her hamster because it went for her in the cage but funny enough i knew how to handle it straight away i used to use a toilet roll holder to lur them in or pop the cage in a bath if ya undoing it so when u clean the hamster out just lur the hamster into a container that way you wont frighten it as much the only reason a hamster is agressive is because of being mistreated or scared

  • i used 2breed hamsters and know exactly wat the wet tail is and its awful when mine gets sick like that i get cotton wool and clean his back side or just dabble him in sum warm water to clean dry him and pop him back in clean cage and only allow him on dry food i change his diet and make sure hes got plenty of fresh clean water he soon purks up but hes greedy and he likes his grub but his little disgestive system cant handle it sometimes and i put him back on his strict diet again until hes beta

  • my hamster gets wet tail all the time on and off lucky tho i know what to do when hes sick its not his fault hes clean and dry i stick him back on dry food and clean him out regualr its condition hes got he cant help tho,, everytime he gets it i think hes gonna die but he seems to pull through all the time and hes recovered again and again my old flat needed fumigating and he got sick frm the fumes of raw sewage under my floor boards i was poorly frm it to :( but it affected his health for good

  • i just bought a fully functional tank at pets smart a an going to petsco :(

  • when I got my first 2 dwarf hamsters from a pet store they were so mean, when I stuck my hand in their cage they attacked it and bit me! this isnt because the hamster is just evil, its because the pet store people dont take good care of their animals, they NEVER take them out for playing or anything. its just cruel, but that doesnt mean you SHOULDNT buy from pet-stores, you SHOULD because you will be rescueing a poor creature from torture. youll be saving it! :/

  • @DwarfHamsterLoveys Many breeds of hamsters are known to be aggressive. Not defending your pet store as I'm 99.9% sure I've never been there before... you could be right that they did not take care of them or handle them.

Also, I must disagree with your comment about we /should/ buy from bad pet stores. This is my opinion of course, and a lot of other people's too, but if you continue to buy neglected animals from bad pet stores you're FEEDING THEM MONEY. You're basically(continued on next post)

  • @DwarfHamsterLoveys giving them incentive for not caring for these animals properly. Yes, those we do not "rescue" may die, but majority of the time they are beyond help. And I don't mean to sound terrible or anything at all like that, really, but would you rather save one animal just for a bunch more to be brought into their terrible care, or (this is the part that may make me sound horrible) "allow" one to die in order to save a bunch from that kind of life?

  • @Azsharya Oh, so you don't think they will just throw out the old ones and get new ones each time the old ones die and they will just get new ones! I don't think it will ever stop.

  • @DwarfHamsterLoveys There is no conceivable way for us to play with every single hamster we have that comes through our doors. Hamsters are not being "tortured" by not being played with. Hamsters would rather have us leave them alone and just run on their wheels, play with the other young hamsters, and eat their food. A hamster that bites is usually just frightened because they are food for bigger animals in the wild. Something coming from the sky = danger to them.

  • @BondageGirlJ yes well, I doubt we live in the same country so where you live and the petstore you go to or work at, maybe they dont do that but where I live at the petstore I go to, they do treat their animals like a pile of poo!! and yes what you say may be true..but still..if I worked at a pet store I would AT LEAST take good care of the animals there.

  • @BondageGirlJ oh and ALSO, when I got my 2 dwarf hamsters at the pet store it said they were both FEMALE on the cage and when I asked a worker they said they were both female also, but a few days after I brought them home I found out they werent females, but MALES!! so seriously if you work at a pet store at least learn to sex the animals right!

  • @DwarfHamsterLoveys Is it a Petsmart or a local store? I find the local stores to usually care for their animals worse since Petsmart is a corporation and has a set of guidelines for us to follow. And yes, not all stores are run with the animals in mind or good employees. I would suggest making a call to your local humane society or the agency that inspects these kinds of places. And we only get the same gender of animals where I work so I know we always have males. :)

  • @BondageGirlJ what you say about local stores is true, where i live is sudbury ontario and there are 3 diffrent corporations, petsmart, pet vaule, and pet depo, we have mltuple pet vaules. but there are 2 stores that are local bussnieses, pet food wharehouse and bj,s little rodents and reptiles, pet food warehouse is ok just the fish tanks are filthy and old but bjs is a night mare. wires hanging in cages, birds with clipped wings walking one the floor (i step on ones tail byaccident).

  • @dustinky1 also they had reptiles with bone diesies and about 20-40 gunie pigs in a 4ft by 2ft by 2ft cage. flys every where, phython enclsures that where open or had holes in it, the worst where there extremly over weght lizards, the had 20 juvinlie beardede dragons in a 30 gallon tank, 2 lemures, yes lemures in a hug screen enclsure and they where scared shitless, and the wrost of the wrost was the 6ft speccled camain living in a kiddie pool that was 10 ft diamiter and 1ft deep. with no heat.

  • @dustinky1 i tried going in there and took 1 picture with my phone and got kicked out. i went back a week later with a small flip video camera and got kiccked out the second they saw it. i repoted them to animal controll and spca but the need evidence. srry bought the long mesage but i had to get my word out.

  • @BondageGirlJ um...it was a Petco, but anyways I'm done with this, I don't even buy for pet-stores anymore, I get my hammies from breeders since I can know the sex and age of the hamster I'm getting. Also if your gonna reply then mind telling me how long you have worked at the pet place you work at?

  • @DwarfHamsterLoveys I've worked at Petsmart for a little over a year. Honestly, they don't really like their employees talking about work on the web (partly because of these "sting operations") so I'm not being told to come on here and say these things. I just don't like the entire company getting a bad rep because there are some awful stores out there. It comes down to management and hiring people that love animals and that will take care of them. :)

  • @BondageGirlJ Hmm, I see.

  • This is so sad and horrible :( but not all pet smarts are bad, like mine. I bought my puppy from pet smart and he is the greatest pet I have ever had! Now I know what ur thinking "dont buy Puppys from pets stores bla bla bla puppy mills bla bla bla" but guess what he is the best dog ever and I wouldent trade him for the world and petsmart even gave me a discount and no not cause he had problems! which he doesn't, but because pet smart cares. At least mine does...

  • @Saiyanwarriorcatgirz Petsmart does care, but it doesn't sell dogs or puppies and never has. They're a corporation that strongly stresses adopting puppies, so you likely may have purchased your puppy from an on-site adoption group that the Petsmart corporations usually sponsor and/or allow into their stores for the purpose of finding homes for them. The puppy mill thing is 100 percent true, however. Buying from a store that sells puppies is a way of fueling that particularly horrid industry.

  • Nearly everything uttered here is a gross exaggeration of the real thing to better suit PETA'S warped viewpoints. I worked in Petsmart's pet department for over 5 years. Not all stores are the same; that's a fact. She may have spied on one where they broke all sorts of policies, including herself, having done nothing to care for the animals she was documenting. I can't speak for all stores, but I know damn well that in MY Petsmart, the employees there gave a damn about the animals. PETA lies.

  • @phinlin This is almost exactly my thoughts. It's just I've never actually worked for a Petsmart.

People over exaggerate things easily, and without knowing. Many new pet owners will look online for care and husbandry articles and come across, "Don't buy from (so-so) they're always bad places," and such, but that's just not true. Some are good places. What I can say is true, however, is when people read "It's better to buy from a breeder because you know they've been taken care of properly."

  • @phinlin Pretty much what this guy said. If you work in the pet department, you are entrusted to care for these animals. If she was so worried about their care, she could easily have cared for them as company policy dictates, talked to a manager, or gone over the manager's head if it was abuse. The person who filmed this is just as guilty as the other employees in this store. And no, not all of our stores are like this. Caring employees are the key to healthy animals.

  • this video is horse shit. peta are a bunch of ecoterrorists that doctor images and falsify information. i work as a pet care specialist and we have actually caught peta members trying to steal our animals. i take my job seriously. i really care about animals and i personally make sure that i give every animal the best possible care i can. any sick animals are closely looked after and given proper treatment.

  • All the animals that I bought from PetSmart never got wet tail or any other health problems. They lived for a very long time and had a happy healthy life. 3 years ago I bought two female chinchillas and when I saw them in the cage at the store they were well feed and healthy. So far all my experiences with the PetSmart near me have been good ones.

  • i got a hamster at petsmart a long time ago.... she was a bit of a monster at first she became nice after a month or two.. she died of starving herself... is there a disease that can cause that? also she smelled like old cheese.. what happened to her? also i think she got blind... :( poor little girl... :(

  • Not all pet stores are like this. The 5 that I go to get better and better every time but yes sadly i have seen a pet store that don't take care of their animals like they are suppose to

  • I Love animals to death but PETA is BULLSHIT.

  • PETA euthanizes animals and some of their members are the equivalent of ecoterrorists. Watch Penn and Teller.

  • The bottom line is that all pet stores in a chain are different!! Some will take better care of the animals than others. Yes the cages are small, but they are only meant for temporary housing until purchased. My local Petco takes AMAZING care of the animals and are very knowledgable about them. Just because a few storea are bad doesn't mean all are.

  • my petsmart takes reall good care of their animals, i personally think its petco that treats their animals the worst

  • Not all petsmarts are like that petco is the store that don't care for animals its dum ass people like you make a big deal if an animal dies it dies so you cry like a little baby a blame the store

  • my girlfriend worked at Petsmart, they quarantine sick animals,to give them better care, just like they do with all animals and people when there is a severely contagious illness. Now i HATE PETA they are a damn joke, but i honestly think if anything this shows us that petsmart should be careful whom they hire, since a "pet care specialist" would know about quarantine, and keeping sick animals away from stress, not to mention they DO train you in this, she must not have been paying attention.

  • I happen to work at a Petsmart and know that sick animals are kept in the back in separate cages to properly treat them and keep the other pets healthy. Also they get taken to a vet and the medications that get administered are the ones the VET sends them back with just like if you had a dog or cat that needs medication. Also Petsmart takes very good care of any pets with congenital or birth defects and ADOPTS them out(NO MONEY EXCHANGE) and makes the people sign a contract to take care of them.

  • ok PETA is alwayas doing and saying stuff like this ! the anamals in the back are back there not so people do not see them but so they can be quarentined so they do not get the other animals sick and so they can try and get them nursed back to health.another thing is have you noticed they only show you the bad, unhealthy ones, not the healthy, lively, active ones.

  • we all going to die cos of the health care what the government give to us but you complain about 2 mouses and bettas witch is even natural for them to be in small tanks or ponds .

  • @pleven70 its natural for a mouse to live in a small tank? i didnt know aquariums where the natural habitat for mice. hmm, learn something new everyday. /sarcasm

  • @B0NGWAT3R420 if you wanna pet where you will keep mouse ? any way this is not wild mouse it`s man made .

  • The small animals like hamsters die frequently because they don't really have that long of a lifespan to begin with, about 3 years. They overcrowd the cages because (hopefully) one animal will be picked to go to a good home soon. The sad part is when they don't get picked & languish in that scenario. I don't have the answer...maybe pets sold in stores like that shouldn't exist at all...like how most mall pet shops have closed. *shrug* It's just heartbreaking. "My favorite breed is Rescued."

  • My local Petsmart is very very clean and better kepted then most stores, they really care for their hamsters, and other furry little creatures :D.the fish tanks can be a tiny bit overcroweded .I believe just because of the actions of 1 Petsmart store cannot reflect over the entire company.i was at petsmart earlier today looking for some more fish, and there was a lady, and the Petsmart worker would not let her buy anymore fish because her tank was overcrowded wouldnt u say thats caring for animals?

  • My PetSmart is very clean and well kept. I will say that sometimes the fish tanks are over crowded, but it seems as though they do their best. The hamsters and such seem to be happy and healthy. The workers seem to care very much about the animals. If there is a "terror room" in the back, I have yet to know about it. I would ask to go back there, but most likely I would not be permitted :(

  • Well done but I don't think anything will happen

  • WHY DON'T THEY BURY THEM?!?!?!

  • Oh because PETA is such a reliable source.

  • omg i cat beieve that makes me so mad they need to get off there lazy buts and do something about these poor animals having to suffer period

  • duh hamsters only about 2 years anyway

dont bitch to petsmart, bitch to were they buy from

  • i got a pacman frog from there about 6 months ago and its fat fine and healthy mow it was fat when i got it form them at least the reptiles and amphibions are ok

  • petsmart is a pet shop so they hire employees to watch other animals kill each other cause they're starving??? 0_0 awful

  • @pickAchoo2U No! They DO take care of the animals, and the ones brought to the back room are cared for, and given medicine. Why would they put them in the open?! That would cause stress to the animal and not to mention, harm to other animals. If any of the animals get sick they are brought to the vets that are located in the store! OBVIOUSLY this PETA pet care giver wasn't taking care of animals, ore they wouldn't be starving! Seriously!

  • Oh My Gosh!! I always want to know the behind the scenes I knew that they would be bad but this is horrible I am so so so so sad!!! Thank you for warning me!!! This almost made me barf!! I am never going to spend a cent there ever again!!! I am glad that the word is out now i really am!!! Again thank you!! I am sad now............ >.< why did I shop there why?

  • @mimetv1 This if fake smart one. -.-

  • @mimetv1 No! They DO take care of the animals, and the ones brought to the back room are cared for, and given medicine. Why would they put them in the open?! OBVIOUSLY this PETA pet care giver wasn't taking care of animals, ore they wouldn't be starving! Think things through before you actually start believing people!

  • WHO CARES!

Really.. why don't you do an expose on the american health care system or something else that's actually truly barbaric and cruel.. this is a waste of time.

  • let all the rodents free in the woods and all of the fish in local lakes, and they will be fighting for there lives as they are very low on the food chain. The best chance these animals have is in a store being labeled "pets". I actually buy fish from Petsmart all of the time...The goldfish make excellent fish bait for larger fish at my local lake. This video is absolutely ridiculous and a waste of your efforts. Dead loss is imminent at any pet store / bait shop. God i hate hippies

  • ive actually went to the back of the store and saw nothing of what you have expland in this video all i saw waht just pets in healthy condition
