I don't understand the point of that....seems rather contradictory to have a division between the sexes at a union of the sexes....but then I'm not Jewish. @NoirAngelique That is where the tradition of raising the bride and groom up on chairs comes from. So they can see and "dance" with each other over the curtain. Of course different congregations have theiir own traditions, some just have a line down the middle of the room, others allow dancing while holding to the ends of a napkin or peice of cloth, and of course most non-orthodox congregations don't separate at all.

That's the literal translation. Its a song we sing at every Jewish wedding in celebration of the beautiful occasion. There are deeper meanings to this, of course, which I won't go into here.
