  • Tony's TV show was the funniest variety show of the 70s. The premise: the girls criticize and ridicule Tony. They got a lot of mileage out of that.

  • I love this song, but Candida is the name of a yeast infection.

  • Didn't realize how much Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords looks like Tony. Put some thick glasses on Tony, and there you go!

  • the lady to the left of him is Telma Hokins who played Harriet's younger sister in the sitcom family matters( the 1 with steve urkel )

  • @thecolaratlady She was also on Gimme A Break in the 80's prior to that.

  • Who would buy a song about S.T.D.'s?

  • These were the good old days at the local working mens club - no worries - no problems...Happy days !

  • Any posts of Skybird anywhere? I saw that tour.

  • How can you not like this??

  • By the way doesn't "candida" refer to thrush??? Yuck!!!

  • God he was hot! I want him to fuck me!

  • @SassyBratt1 He and I, same age, mixed race (hispanic/middle east) same here.

we look very similar. (now both with heavy mustache)

    Did you get the pic?

  • @harfuch1 Ooooo la la la ....mmmm...are you makin' a pass at me hot stuff? :-) xxx ooo My undies are getting sweaty!

  • Respond to this video... I want to do a sexy jiggy dance to this song and shake my hoochy into a big bushy mustache!

  • @SassyBratt1 I attend his concer Saturday (three days ago) in Beaumont Texas, sure it was good.

Do you know what? when he was performing Knock three times, I was thinking about your comment here. lol.

How do you want to shake your butty? lol.

  • Ótimas músicas!

Aqui no Brasil teve uma versão local dos The Fevers!

  • Is this the same beat as knock three times?

  • @laura7anne, Like nearly all artists they have same kind of sound to most of their songs! :-)

You would know an Abba song a mile off even if it was a new release correct?

  • dawn man what a cool rock n rolla. candida una cancion bien chevere man. que viva tony orlando.

  • My Mom named me after this song!!!! But she spelled it differently... Candita

  • @lachula307 That's cool. You must be a beautiful person.

  • You really need to get your hearing tested and stop trying to claim your Superhuman !

The 2 songs you mentioned previously are not the same song with different names apart from a few parts of the tune sound the same as I mentioned before.

  • what a Fantasic singer love tony orlando

  • I remember being in High School. This song sends chills up my spine. I love it so much!!

  • I love this music a lot...it made me dance ...a slow dance..good for line dancing...hehehe

  • Candida is an infection you get under an old denture!

  • @lancojames That's True! That's also not the only place you can have A candida infection! Candida is wild yeast. So her mom Basically Named Her Daughter SOURDOUGH! This might not be good. It's A good thing her mom didn't have The CLAP! Maybe that's what's with the CLAPPING for A Lip-Sync.

  • Tony... you're awesome! Would love to see him in concert sometime....

  • Candida is also the name of a yeast. If I am not mistaken, it's the one responsible for "female" infections.

    Salud,

    Dan

  • I like it, but they're not fooling me... it's really the same as "Knock Three Times."

  • @defundthewar True, but Candida came first.

  • @defundthewar I know right! I noticed that too, it is hardly even masked...

  • @fpopkin I remember even earlier there was a big hit called "Young Girl," by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. So they released "Lady Willpower" which was the same damn song! I could probably think of other examples.

  • @defundthewar How is : /watch?v=hn0ZJHVH17I the same as /watch?v=aMT-2LOR6vQ ?

  • @humeyboy I'm not the only one who noticed they are similar enough to be called the same. I can only say it's like being able to see color or being color blind, or having a sense of pitch or being tone deaf. A person is born that way, and nothing can change it. If you don't pick up on how they're the same, I cannot explain it.

  • @defundthewar I never asked for sarcasm, I have above average hearing (not always a good thing).

Sure parts of the tune sound the same but so does any 1 artists tunes all sound near the same (Abba./Queen /ZZ Top, etc)

The actual way you badly worded it made it sound like they simply renamed a song and marketed/released it as a new song !

  • @humeyboy Yep, they renamed it & released it as a different title. There are other commenters here who caught on to it. You can try asking them to explain, but I do not see how it is possible. There are some things that a person's antenna picks up, or doesn't. A lot of times, artists and record companies get away with it, but sometimes the jig is up. A good example is the "My Sweet Lord" - "He's So Fine" fracas. Look it up if you're unfamiliar with it. I have nothing more to add.

  • What's with the clapping to a lip-synced performance?!

  • There's always got to be that white guy clapping on the 1 and 3 .. with a real pop of the hand palms that everyone can hear... :17

  • A música ("Candida") me faz lembrar do tempo em que eu cursava faculdade - há mais de 35 anos.

Foi um ícone dos meus tempos de estudante universitário. E hoje me traz grandes recordações.

  • well they been doin that for yrs now tryin to be what was back then for all of us

  • Candida was always one of my favorite songs by TO and Dawn. great rendition

  • @buddimack Mine as well. I still remember singing Candida while riding my bicycle the first year I rode a bike, back in Nov. 1969 - Nov. 1970 (when I was 6 years old). For some reason one of the best and yes, easiest of artists tunes to sing while riding a bike in the 1970's was definitely Tony Orlando & Dawn's tunes. Must have been how great of vocalist they were.

  • candida is my name nd im proud

  • kickin old tune. reminds me of when i was about five. then when i grew up I found out Candida is the germ responsible for yeast infections, Gee, I wonder where someones mom heard that name, as in is it A bad disease doc?.... no it's just an infection of candida.....my, what a pretty name, good thing the doc didn't say it was chlymidia or maybe herpes.

  • @gistoddlinho I knew Candido he loved sucking Mule dicks in Brasil and he was one of the first born again bisexual men on record in Brasil's history! He was agreat man...woman!!!

  • bigfootskitty - lol - i'm so glad another person posted this cuz i remember singing this in the 70s - was always my favorite tony orlando & dawn song.

it's funny what certain words or names mean in other cultures.

it's like someone i met years ago - i think they were from japan - we were talking about how here in america people call someone a dog and it's disrespectful and he was saying that that would be something flattering or something to that effect since dogs are considered cute. :)

  • dawg is now a friendly greeting. go figure

  • exactly lol

other people might answer to it, but not here! XD

  • I remember Tony Orlando and Dawn from their variety show. I also remember "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" being on the radio everyday. Thank you for posting,

  • why do you waste your time and energy by posting dumb ass comments like that? just Dumb!

  • I think I can answer your question. I think "tracyblogger" posted that comment because it' s very funny. Doesn't take anything away from the song; just funny.

  • It's not dumb, it's true.

  • I can't believe your a 40 year old? Grow up!

  • He's hot.

  • I love tony orlando and dawn :-)

  • The last time that i seen thelma hopkins was in "family Matters"

  • You are wise beyond your years. Spread the message to other people your age!

  • I saw Tony Orlando and Dawn in March 1976 at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. The show was delayed due to an ankle injury to Joyce. They toted her out and she sat on a stool during the performance. But it was a good show, though. Did anyone else see them around this time? Please reply if you did.

  • I didn't see them in SC., but saw them in NY in 1976. Was a big fan of theirs back then, loved their TV show. Saw Tony many times in concert and met him a few times. He's the sweetest guy, a great entertainer.

  • Thanks for the reply. Our neighbors had tickets to his show and invited us. My father had died a year earlier and they did this as a friendly gesture. They paid for our supper and the show, including a souvenir program. Overall, it was a good experience. By the way, this was the first concert that I ever attended.

  • Sooooo Sexxxyyy..love 'em...

  • I wonder if Freddie Prinze looked like Tony Orlando w/out a cookie duster too.. I know they did w/a mushtache they did..

  • Now I KNOW EVERYTHING! THEY CASTRATED HIM AND MURDERED him THEN SAID HE SUFFERED WITH DEPRESSION! I KNOW THE ENTIRE THING! OH WELL TOUGH SHIT TIME NOW!!!!! PAYBACK A MOTHER FUCKER!
