  • --Song performed by Ringo Starr, perhaps best known as "Atouk" in the 1981 slapstick comedy film "Caveman." (Also played backup percussion for popular British rock band known as "The Beatles.")

  • George co-wrote this.

  • @falcon6136

Stephen Stills is playing the piano on this recording.

  • some people say that ringo doesnt play the drums well. And they are right, because he plays AWSOMELY! y think that without Ringo the Beatles would not exist as today we know it.

    LONG LIVE RINGO!

  • Ringo Starr booked for July 3 concert at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater – The Birmingham News – al.com

    I'm going to that one...

  • @ndhudecz i'm in atlanta, hmmmmmm not too far away.....

  • @tranurse 1hour 30min drive to B'ham. and just a litte farther to Tuscaloosa Amphitheater Our chance to see one of the Beatles.I'm putting in for vacation at work to guarantee I'm off.

  • I think Ringo and George were the "Glue" That held together the crazyness that was The Beatles (Mainly John and his "Anticks":)

    But I love them all!!

    RIP John + George

    Peace and Love :)

  • I think that is Stephen Stills on lead guitar, so I have read. Sweet sound!

  • I never really grew up a Beatles Fan, but... I can honestly say that I appreciate the awesomeness that is Ringo Starr. Never knew who made this song until recently, which I'm sure is a capital offence, but... I don't care. I'm glad I found out who did this song, I'm glad I've listened to this song, and I'm not sorry to say that I'm more a fan of Ringo here than I am of Lennon, Harrison, or McCartney.

  • This tune is so well produced,Great sound! A Ringo classic.

  • In every photo, in every video, you can see, how He stayed close to himself.

    enjoying what he was doing.

  • Explains my life right now . . .

  • GREAT SONG!

  • this is his very best

  • Ringo sings so great – I love it! :D

  • and 5 people don't know what good music is. I may be 27 but this is still awesome!!!!!!!

  • Is Ringo at least on the skins?

  • @slide4180 Yes he played drums.

  • Yes that is George Harrison...and the studio troops from Apple...Bobby Keyes, Jim Horn, Jim Keltner...etc...

  • All I can say is this is one beautiful song and I sure do love it.

  • DAMNED GOOD SONG

  • Proverbs 28:4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Proverbs 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Proverbs 28:6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

Proverbs 28:7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

  • Lord Jesus help us overcome!!!

  • This Song Was Written By Both Harrison/Starkey

Ringos Real Name Is Richard Starkey

  • Whenever you're having a major hardship in your life (i.e. can't find a good job or good partner), this is the song to listen to.

  • This actually made me a whole lot happier. Holy crap. yesterday was hell and after listening to this, I brightened up! <3 I LOVE RINGO :D

  • Zoznack you are RIGHT xx

  • Take a listen to Harrison's version on here. It's the same exact tracks. The only difference is Harrison's vocals are replaced by Ringo's and a horn section was added. This is definitely written and recorded by Harrison, then given to Ringo.

  • This is the most Beatle sounding post-Beatle song in my opinion. But I think Live & Let Die is the best of all the solo stuff.

  • Ringo looks natural holding that guitar

  • Ringo was the smartest Beatle of them all . He knew his place , didn't take it all too seriously , and will be the last man standing .

  • @DAVPK1 What on earth are you talking about ???

  • @DAVPK1 that's not actually so absurd an observation. ringo was no moron like everyone thinks he was. he is a far greater drummer than everyone realizes. a great 'play-along' drummer, much like charlie watts. and i think he never took himself too seriously, which just made everything a lot easier on him. in my view george was the 'smartest' beatle - very talented (i say the most talented) and very low-key. of course this is not to say that lennon and mcartney were nothing special . . .

  • @newfuckingwave I knew my statement would rattle people . Was he the best song writer ? The best singer ? The most charismatic band member ? I'll let others decide . Why I said he was the smartest was , he knew how to survive the music industry . He is famous , he is a Beatle and he escaped most of the BS . Ringo can walk with the Rock N' Roll gods , live life , and fly under the radar if he likes . To me that is brilliant . Charlie Watts always has that sarcastic smile , now we know why .

  • @DAVPK1 Its not like the other guys brought on their deaths... john was assassinated by a mental patient and george had cancer.

  • @DAVPK1 I personally think George was the smartest, but I see your argument.

  • This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. Plsams 91:2 I love this song! God bless him!

  • you got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues

  • @rjgoff30 and ya know it dont come easy

  • Just love this song to pieces!

  • 1:45 You can vaguely hear 'Hare Krishna' from George Harrison's demo of the song.

  • @Theawesomegirl5 George already exploited the Hare Krishna refrain in 1970's My Sweet Lord single, so I guess he decided to mix it way down for Ringo's AM radio friendly version a year later. George learned a thing or two from Phil Spector in how to make great sounding mixes for AM radio. That's why the horns are so pronounced, plus the slide guitar solo during the break.

  • does a version exist of either george or ringo singing this without the G.D. Hare Krishna thing?

  • coast to coast bumper music.

  • 2 people don't understand music

  • Happy 71st Ringo! Peace and Love....

  • Ringo was always under-rated because he was in the same group as John, Paul, and George. They, however, always valued him and realised that his drumming was so reliably excellent that it put the "beat" in "Beatles".

This song is just one from an entire album of superb songs Ringo performed.

  • YOU KNOW IT DON'T COME EASY!

  • ringo star is one of the greatest group of all time & a great solo singer as well rock on ringo

  • Someone in the thread said "Ringo wasn't needed". Seriously? Ringo was exactly what Paul, John, and George needed. And they knew it. Long live Ringo!!!

  • @bevandjohntube

Anyone who doesn't see the hand of god in the Beatles is blind. Check out The Beatles as Prophets."

  • @bevandjohntube You are right on with that comment. Paul recently said that Ringo was the back bone of the group. He set the tone and the rest followed.

  • @bevandjohntube ... they didn't "all know it" i quote John Lennon when asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world he said, "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in The Beatles" Ringo was decent and respectable, but not comparable to the musical geniuses of the other three...

  • @888getoveryourself ... who said he was the best drummer in the world? I didn't.

  • WOW Zoznak!! I came to the comment section to write what you just got through writing! Yeh, you can't be a Beatle-phile for long without detecting the George sound if only from trying to separate his leads from John's.

    Thanks for the cool post!

  • as a child I fell in love with Ringo. He was so goofy he was adorable... I was only 5 when I first heard the Beatles...1964

  • this songs rules :p

  • it dont come easy...

amazing sound i love it. stylish

  • Definitely George's guitar and backing vocals.

  • I know you can't have a band without a drummer, but I always felt like Ringo Starr wasn't really needed. Hell, he was a good addition, but he never really got the stardom that John Lennon and my boy Paul McCartney did.

  • @freethetech Dude my Dad always told me to never doubt Ringo's awesomeness, and he IS AWESOME, but ive always felt like he was the happy guy that was just along for the ride XD But still, in the end, hes the one alive, happy, and married to a super model ;D Also, for some reason the Beetles wouldnt have been right if they replaced Ringo......

  • good song it sounds like george is in the background tho

  • In 4th grade I did a biography on Ringo Starr and I had to dress like him.

  • Ah, my favorite Beatle. RINGO STARR!

  • THIS SOUNDS LIKE ERIC CLAPTON 'LET IT RAIN' AND CREAMS 'BADGE'

  • @niggaT42000 Yes, that's because D, Am, and C are the shared chords between the two songs.

  • I can't remember, who does a cover of this? for some reason it seems like Neil Young would do a cover of this.

  • 2 people missed the like button

  • strange seeing Ringo with a guitar

  • RINGO will outlive them all! The coolest Beatle!

  • omg!!! who would lisen to ringo?

  • Happy 70th Birthday, Ringo! You worked so hard to make it to this age. Congratulations! I hope you have many more wonderful birthdays ahead of you.

  • This has George written all over it. That guitar sound is unmistakible and it sounds like George singing backing vocals. I think he also wrote this for Ringo, though I can't be sure of that...

  • @zoznack Yes you can be sure. There's a Harrison demo out there, and Ringo pretty much admitted it. It doesn't really matter though or take away from either of them. They are both Beatles and amazing. I just like to think of this as one of the key songs on the 1970/1971 Beatles album that never was.

  • @zoznack My Dad told me that Ringo wrote some songs, but he said that they weren't too good. But I like this one and Photograph (I just typed in Ringo Starr and those two plus others came up) so obviously they are good, but not in my Dad's opinion, or you're right and this was either written or co-written by George Harrison.

  • @zoznack From wikipedia: Starr reportedly composed the song in 1970. Decades later, he admitted that the song's producer George Harrison co-wrote the song (as he did with other hits such as "Photograph").

  • @zoznack

certainly sounds like George Harrison. They always helped good ol' Ringo out.

  • @zoznack Yeah its has that entirety of a Harrison, the vocals, intro, chord progression. It always sounded way to mature for ringo's, well infant writing abilities, no disrespect.

  • @zoznack

George plays guitar, its members of badfinger singing back up

  • @zoznack

  • @zoznack George was good to Ringo. He wrote this and "Photograph" for him.

  • @zoznack Oriignally it was accredited to just Ringo but decades later RIngo admitted that he co-wrote it with George.

  • @zoznack You're right, he did write it for Ringo.

  • @zoznack Yes, he did write it for Ringo. You can always tell a Harrison guitar track because he liked to play through leslie cabinets. The song is a message to the other ex-Fabs. It was interesting how around that post-break up period of the early 70s they wrote songs directed at each other, most of them uncomplimentary.

  • @KUTVgroucho Not being a guitar player (drummer, thank you!), I wouldn't have known that. Damn, you know your music!

Yeah, speaking of ex-Beatles snipping at each other, I read that Paul's "Too Many People" really, really pissed of John, who wrote "How Do You Sleep" in response. Personally, I think TMP is a much better song. So, winner, Round 1: Paul!

  • @zoznack The sniping began on Macca's first solo LP. He continued on RAM with TMP, Dear Boy, and a few lines from Three Legs (Fly flies in, Fly flies out... "Fly" was the title of one of Yoyo's avant garde films.) Wah Wah on ATMP is directed at Paul, no doubt, since George seemed always peeved with him going back years.

Did you ever see the pic of John that's a parody of the RAM cover? Where he's straddling a pig and grabbing it by the ears?

  • @zoznack You got to admit that the lines : "those freaks was right when they said you was dead" and "the only thing you did was yesterday and now you're just another day" are better than anything Paul threw at him.

  • @zoznack I was also sure since the first time that I heard this song that this is INDEED George Harrison on slide guitar and backround vocals!

  • @zoznack - Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger are also on the backing vocals.

  • It's time for RINGO. Fabulous.

  • @sugarshula64

    It's *always* time for Ringo!

  • Thank you SgtPeppers495, at least someone like you can upload songs in STEREO, not that MONO junk. I used to have the 45 when I was 13 yrs old in 1971. Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues and you know It Don"t Come Easy.

  • GREAT FREAKN SONG!!!!!

  • Rock - on Ringo!!!!!

  • Even though he's my 3rd fave Beatle, he is still awesome. This song is incredible, Gotta love Ringo!!!

  • this is a wonderful song

  • I love this song, and Ringo Starr!
