  • Yeah she has a oscar but didn't do anything afterwords.

  • Am I the only one who really didn't hate her that much?Sure she did evil stuff but she looked like such a nice person.

  • Best performance in an Evil Role !

  • She was so scary in that movie.

  • Man, all those actresses looked depressed when the camera highlighted them. Guess there was some kind of stoic woman image to maintain...

  • I think this is one of the most articulate and moving acceptance speeches

  • It's Kai Winn!

  • I can't believe this is the principal from High School High..

  • She's so stunning!

  • As a Sign Language interpreter, I was touched by her signing to her mom and dad. Beautiful

  • Ann-Margaret is merely nervous. The whole world is watching. Peter Fonda explained in acting or in close ups, a raised eye brow could imply an action or intention that was inadvertent. Therefore, they remain motionless to appear non descript so the press does not have something wrong or unkind to report.

  • @elafaille You're not even close.

  • ann margret looks dead serious.......or pissed. i love her so much..... it doesn't matter.

  • Isabelle should've won this in a landslide.

  • Carol Kane was borned dead

  • I love her so much <3

  • wow, Nurse Ratched is fucking hot

  • This was a no brainer imo.....and btw - I think Carol Kane is truly nuts! lol

  • favourite acceptance speech, amusing and touching!

oh and a pretty amazing performance too :)

  • that is the first time ive seen her smile

  • All nominees irradiating happiness I can see...

  • @chrisferdidu Loool!

  • this is so weird to see her smile after seeing the movie... those eyes are still scary -.-

but my fav scene has to be when she is getting strangled by Mac =3

  • the women of those days had vintage timeless beauty

  • Ann Margaret looks PISSED!

  • nurse rached was sexy

  • charles and jill bronson r.i.p.

  • Those eyes...

  • Most serious actresses! :X

  • tha nominees were all HAPPY that night :D

  • Fantastic actress,I loved "hating" her also! Thank you.

  • Louise Fletcher's performance as Nurse Ratched has to be my favorite female performance of all time.

  • i actually threw my pen at the projecting screen one time (in class) in a scene where i hat nurse Ratched so much

  • Brilliant performance - so understated and chilling. Very, very deserved win.

  • Amazing film, amazing actress ♥

Louise played Nurse Ratched to perfection.

This is possibly my favourite acceptance speech ever and she looks absolutely beautiful.

  • she was awsome, and although jack was great he wouldnt look so good without a great actress too support him

  • i really really hated this bitch in this movie and really loved Nicholson instead!

  • This was a very weak year for this category.

  • They all look like someone killed their families... wow... Would it of killed them to fake it? Good thing nowadays they all smile when they announce the nominees.

  • Nurse Ratched. I swear... I felt like I came when Jack started Choking her, so much release it's like.. fucking FINALLY did something about that damned bitch. Yeah... as you can tell you played a great bad guy.

  • Ann for tommy? fucking joke...the woman CAN'T ACT for shit

  • Damn those ladies are in it to WIN IT

  • i would

  • Ah, they don't do it like this anymore!

  • Would the actresses every crack a smile? They all look depressed :O

  • great performence by a great actress.

  • She's prettier when she nice lol

  • She just made me cry!

  • when Jack Nicholson was strangling her I so wanted him to choke the life outta her

    so she deserved to win

  • Now to win the best Actress all one has to do is put on a Tutu:/

  • Jack one of the very few wearing sunglasses INSIDE the oscars theater !

  • I love where she signs her thanks to her parents :) She is awesome as Nurse Ratched and Kai Winn (on Deep Space Nine)

  • Isabelle Adjani was amazing in "The Story of Adele H.".

  • aww that was a really sweet speech, thumbs up :)

  • Great to see people receive the accolade they deserve

  • I wanted to fucking kill her in the movie she really deserved to win

  • have you noticed in this awards.. allways the 3rd one to be named is the winer??

  • AFI ranked Nurse Ratched fifth out of a hundred on the greatest film villains of all time.

  • she did one of the most memorable performances ever; i love her speech

  • She damn sure rocked the part!

  • What an incredibly lovely lady. She deserves all the honor she has earned. A wonderful actress and a wonderful woman. Love u, Louise!

  • charlie Bronson...-yeah

  • One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest was good, but if you want to watch a REAL mental institution movie, watch Titicut Follies. There was a reason why it was banned when it was first released.

  • So they were supposed to look PISSED OFF when they were nominated back then?

  • who's the guy sitting next to her?

  • Louise Fletcher has the most wonderful teeth, and wtf is Ann Margaret, she looks like she is gonna kill somebody!

  • Lovely, just lovely.

  • She manage to have a very simple and eloquent speech in just a minute and 15 sec,

Thank you too for your great performance.

  • Wow, she looks so gorgeous.

  • we loved hating you too, louise :)

  • i loved hating you too, louise :)

  • Good Gawd, some crabby looking faces among the noms...

  • Carol Kane was far superior. What a waste

  • What can you say about that....beautiful

  • Her performance was so subtle yet so powerful I could go on and on but im gonna leave it there.

  • This was an era for weak, one dimensional roles for women in movies. Fletcher's was a supporting performance and, I guess, we were supposed to admire her for what she didn't do in the part. The only winner should have been Isabelle Adjani for her complex portrayal in the, probably, little seen French film, "The Story of Adele H". But, that's the way the Oscar crumbles.

  • Elle le méritait tellement ! Son seul grand rôle, mais comme elle l'a trop bien interprété ! Grande actrice, dommage que l'on ne la retrouve pas dans d'autres bons films comme Vol au-dessus d'un nid de coucou.

  • She was a supporting actress in that movie.

  • @nostalgic001 I would certainly have thought so, too

  • Charles Bronson deserves an award for his superb hair do!

  • @ufuckfacesonofabitch .....and facial hair!! You could get away with any ridiculous fashion statements in the `70s!!

  • Is it possible for an Oscar-winning performance to actually be underrated? I think this one is.

  • You go, Louise, you are a great actress! The whole speech was very moving and emotional!

  • Without a doubt, the most multi-faceted, unassuming and indefinable villain. Great actress and very moving acceptance speech. Fair play

  • Why are they all so angry looking haha

  • Wonderful!

  • 1:23 JACK NICHOL--

    2:20 JACK NIC--

  • 1:23 JACK NICHO--

    2:20 JACK NIC--

    DAMMIT

  • What a brilliant talent she is!

  • 0:51, someone wasn't wearing a bra that night...

  • Gosh,an amazing speech and an OUTSTANDING performance.

  • LOL no one looks happy. they all look like they're attending a funeral.

  • 0:16 someone looks happy!

  • @SirJayBS I know, haha :P

  • Great speech!!!

  • Libs all.

  • the women look so angry, damn XD

  • Carol Kane (who I've never heard of) looks like the kind of person you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley

  • Louise Fletcher was so very evil and scheming in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest!

I can see why the Academy Voters made her the winner! Well deserved indeed!

  • What a Beautiful woman...

  • was that brad dourif in the audience too? loved him in one flew over as billy!! he deserved an oscar for his performance!

  • Every movie needs a good bitch and she's the greatest bitch of all time!

  • Nurse Nipples!

  • Louise Fletcher. So well deserved, but proof that winning an Oscar doesn't always lead to bigger and better things. The gawdwful "Exorcist II: The Heretic" and that's about it.

    Shame, really.

  • @librarybob1958: I thought that too, but then I read that she took 11 years off to raise her children as a single mother, so that's why she was off the radar for a while. She and Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West are the two greatest villains in movie history in my opinion.

  • i would so laugh like crazy if Jack Nicholson just goes up there and start choking her like in the movie.

  • Why does none of them smile when the nominees are presented?

  • @MrIcwiener

Because they are scared shittless. It is a life altering award.

  • such an interesting role. on some level you can understand her motives, but you hate her for it. she really did great

  • She´s an amazing actress....and where I like her the most is probably in "Brainstorm"

  • She´s an amazing acress....and where I like her the most is probably in "Brainstorm"

  • she looks like the queen of evil with those eyes

  • Hey! Its Charly Bronson & Wife!

  • Wow.. Jill Ireland is hot!!! :-DDD

  • Karl Koch, Tron, Martina Pflock, Heiner Gehring, Kirsten Heisig, Bernd Seiffert Fritz Bauer (prosecutor of the Frankfurt Auschwitz processes), Jürgen Möllemann, Uwe Barschel and my brother Markus Bott.

These authors, human rights and internet activists have been murdered by the German BND, the renamed GESTAPO. If my homepage disappears, the BND will have assassinated me too.

BND snitchers are thumbing me down. Thumbs up if you want the German BND to stop systematic torture and assassination.

  • carol cane goth before there was goth

  • Very touching...and yes, she was easy to HATE in that role, a testament to her craft.

  • i like how when she was doing the hand signs they cut off her hands

  • Just look at her. Her smile - it transforms her from a pretty woman into a heartstoppingly gorgeous woman. Love you, Louise!

  • seriously, the nominees need to relax and smile

  • Charles Bronson motherfucker!! :D

  • This makes me cry every time. She's an amazing person, and her parents are beautiful people. Such a touching speech from such an actress who played such a cold character. God bless her.

  • Hell yeah, she absolutely deserved that award! The greatest female villain of all time, and I think Nurse Ratched is the greatest character played by a female.

  • @OmerSWDisco Don't forget the grandmother in "Flowers in the Attic", LOL

  • Great actress, and she is from my own hometown, Birmingham, Alabama!

  • @OmerSWDisco i think Kathy Bates in Misery was a bit better as far as greatest female villain goes.

  • druggie alert at 0:36

  • i first saw Louise in Flowers in the Attic as the evil grandmother, and then in high school we watching One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, she played both roles so well, even though flowers in the attic was a bit of a let down, after reading the book, but she seems so nice and homely. and she has such a great set of teeth, i'm jealous haha. :P

  • omg nurse R bought joyfull tears to my eyes hahaha

  • damn, an-margaret looks like shes ready to cut some bitches omg XD

  • Isabelle Adjani would have been my choice. What a performance in the Story of Adele H especially for such a young woman. Beautiful and can act her ass off.

  • my god, they all look so uncomfortable being there. your being nominated for a prestegious award, lighten up!

  • Amazing film, amazing performances, deserved awards.

  • Nurse Ratched is one of the all-time great screen villains! Try watching the film and not wanting to kill her! Very well deserved Oscar for an amazing performance in an amazing film.

  • In case you missed that half-second of text, that's "Jack Nicholson" at the end.

  • Look how young Isabelle Adjani is! LOVE HER!

  • very suttle lady, definitly deserved it

  • The music they played when she won was so classy. Nowadays they'll play something they play in the radio

  • Apparently Carol Kane came staight from the set of one of the "Night of the Living Dead" shoots, in full dress costume.

  • @horns2112 Lmao word

  • @horns2112 LOL- I was gonna make a comment about her looking like a corpse, but you def topped it - Hilarious comment

  • If I had teeth like that Id smile all day!

  • She is charming.

  • There's an inside joke in Hollywood. The actors who always play the noble heroes or sweet ingenues that we all root for tend to be raging douches. To compensate, maybe. Meanwhile, those who often play hideous villains or just plain hate-able people (like Beth Grant or Jason Isaacs) tend to be the nicest and most down-to-earth people you'll ever meet in Hollywood. Louise Fletcher certainly seems to be proof of this.

  • @Wellworm it's so true, of course there are a few exceptions. but i noticed that more actors/actresses who play villains are so friendly

  • Bronson is the greatest!

  • holly fuck. when i saw carol cain i nearly shat myself in fear.

  • one of the most moving and humble oscar speeches ever. just beautiful.

  • That was the last sucessful film she was in. Ann Margaret should have won.

  • Holy hell, that's Charles Bronson!

  • Aww now i love her. i had to watch this so i hated the character and not the actress (I really did want to strangle her lol) and now i can really appreciate this performance

  • These actresses didn't smile a bit when there names were called in the beginning, for some reason I love that!!

Best Oscar speech ever, I actually email the OScar channel on youtube to ask them to post this on youtube, so thank you!!

  • Awe! She's so pretty without the nurse's uniform!

  • The first good Oscar speech I have seen in my life......

  • Louise looks like a goddess in that dress and carol cain looks like she is about to sacrifice a goat to her.

  • pure.

  • Louise Fletcher was great in that film - a fantastic and truly memorable performance. Still I would have loved it if An-Margaret got it, simply because Tommy is one of my favorite films of all times, and she was truly something in it. I keep forgetting she's an actress, she's just so into the part.

  • She was so pretty back then. Her signing to her deaf parents was so moving.

  • @HattieLovesCattie very touching.

  • @HattieLovesCattie Yes, she was signing to to parents in Birmingham, AL. Very moving presentation by her.

  • So, nobody wanted me to smile?

  • ann-margret looks like she's gonna kills someone when they say her name.

  • maybe people back then didn;t fake smile

  • y do people back then look so depressed?

  • Well deserved!!!! she looked cute too!!!!

  • In my opinion, I think Louise Fletcher deserves her perfomance. I saw the movie last night and she looked brilliant when she played a cold and vindictive person. Despite i havent the other four actresses movies.

  • Was it Anne Margaret's period?

  • @badboy10ize i know lol .....stone faced or what!!!

  • she looks like the mom from home alone in one flew over the cuckoos nest

  • @Wilsk1993 i thought that too

  • i still wanna strangle that women

  • i still wanna strangle that bitch

  • amazing

  • Carol Cane looks dead

  • @thesalvationhasbegun

She ALWAYS looks dead lol...I think eccentric is what she markets herself as lol...see Taxi for a reference ;)

  • and badass Charles Bronson presenting Best Actress, "holy shit it's me oh my god i am so baddass". lol

  • LOL! Isabelle Adjani looked so young. I liked Isabelle's performance in "Adele H.", but maybe Ms. Fletcher's performance was better.

  • crack a smile or something

  • Beautiful person. Very good actress. Her parents were both deaf and her father was a minister in Alabama. She wasn't the only actress to have done ASL on the Oscars. Jane Fonda did in 1979 for Coming Home.

  • Glenda Jackson wasn't very moved...

  • i just saw the movie today and I think she really portrayed well what a real Psychiatric Nurse should be....

    Im a Nurse BTW XD
