  • Thanks for the tips. Imma try this because the first time I tried this I made A BIG MESS!!

  • I know when I do henna I rinse it out outside in my back yard and run the hose over my head. lol (a lil ghetto, but you dont have go clean out your tub!)

  • My dog loves to play with his toy too we can always hear the toy squeaking which is too cute :)

  • Very informative video and to top it off you are hilarious. Thanks to you and Russell for the laughs(".")

  • Lol ur funny

  • did you put the henna in while your hair was still wet or did you towel dry it or something because im about to do my henna this weekend

    :)

  • @scribblez21 I put it on dry hair. It is suggested it be clean, so I guess wet wouldn't hurt. I think the major factor is how long you leave it on.

  • @monicajoi did the henna stain your bathtub or sink or anything???

  • @scribblez21 No it didnt stain anything except the gloves and the shirt.

  • Thanks for this vid sis. I got the Caca Rouge, and may just try it tonite!

  • really helpful and i love your humor!

  • hello dear, that was a very thorough informational video, would like to thank you for sharing so much details on how to mix and use hena for your hair. This is my first time using Hena / Black / namebrand Noorani .. there is absolutely no instructions on how to mix or use the product .. so thanks again for sharing.. I have grays and only needed it for touch ups but I am still not confident sufficient to plunge into it.. might have 2 come see your videos again to ween myself into this new thing.

  • how cute the squeaky noise!! your doggy :)

    awesome tips!

  • you're hilarious

  • awww the dogs name is russell too cuuute... an he's in the back havin a ball with that toy lol

  • do you know it this pure henna. please let me know

  • @sahdae23 I believe Caca Rouge is because it has nothing added to change the color but the website has all ingredients listed

  • @sahdae23 I work for Lush, I can tell you our henna dye bricks are made of henna powder and cocoa butter. They also have some lemon juice, and all of them aside from Caca Rouge also have a little indigo powder. If you wrap the others on your head, they will turn out a little more red or leave it open for a little more brown.

  • Ok, good to know rinse my hair a' lot :D

I'm sit and waiting for like almost 4 hours with caca brun in my hair, and really don't know what to expect when i put the plastic off my head,so thank you for the good advices ;)

  • Thanks for the tutorial! Finding it was right on time. I picked up my block of LUSH henna this weekend, the same color. I'm hopin my grey won't look too red.

  • BTW.. i love that song.... and i can see the rustic red/orange color. I like it. I might try it during the summer, to do something different.

    How long did it last?

  • @paintitjazzy It was orange looking for about 8 weeks then it darkens so you

    don't really notice a change.

  • "Russled in a mud puddle..' Haha, nice.

Thanks for the vid! It'll prove helpful when i go to do my very first application of caca brun tomorrow!! I've heard that putting a heating pad on your head when you're waiting can intensify the colour....think this'd work?

  • That sounds good i may try it next time.

  • YES! I really wanted to see this video on a sista first.. I saw the other lush henna videos and I fell in love but I really wanted to see someone elses results. This summer I plan on henna my hair ... I want my twa out and breathing. Your hair looks excellent.. will bookmark

  • Thank you :D

  • i tried lush rouge today. My hair feels soft and moisturized. I did add 3 tbsp raw honey to it in case of dryness. i don't see any color but will check it out in the morning. you were right about using a cheese grater. great tip. i only use 3 blocks for my 7 1/2 to 9 inch med texture hair.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!! I just got a big block of LUSH henna today and couldn't get it less than sticky mud! I am going to try the grater and the developer bottle! And your hair looks great, too! And I loved hearing Russell playing in the background. Aw!

  • Glad my vid was helpful. :)

  • ohh my gosh I tried this and it went everywhere. It has stained my towels, my shirt, my bath, and my pillowcase. I must have done it wrong .....never ever ever, again lol

  • Yeah I think ppl were too over the top when they were saying it was messy. Im in the process of my first henna. As I type Im sitting here with a heavy head full of "mudd" and wrap.... Man and I thought I put on a lot of wrap...LOL=) .. lets hope I doing it ccorrectly.. I will be posting mine vdo soon... Oh the way you talk is funny and a cute lil way...(if that makes any since).

  • i think the way you talk is so cute haha

  • pleasee excuse russled and his toy (makes face) lol you are soo funny

  • I love the tut and of course the music :) I'm goin pick up my henna today, just hope it cover all these hereditary greys I got goin on up there...

  • Good Luck!

  • hhaha " y'all don't know me I will use this little thingy to cut the cling wrap"

  • Good rinsing tips, thanks.

  • I wanna try henna but I like my black hair.......hhhmmmmm decisions :0)

  • Lush makes a "henna" called caca noir that will make hair black. It has an additive that colors the hair black because all true henna is orange/red.

  • OK thanks!

  • thanks for this the tips were really good!

hahahah I love how you said "that first shampoo woulda been a biiiiiiiiiiig joke" LOL <3

  • Glad I could help.

  • the bottle thing is an amazing idea!!!....and yup when you rinse it out it is quite scary!!!.....the smell afterwards isnt that great is it?

  • LOL!

"Please excuse Russel and his squeeky toy *dirty look*.."

  • He caused a lot of edits. LOL

  • is it ok if u air dry it

  • Your hair yes, the henna should not dry out.

  • y shouldn't it dry out

  • It reportedly get almost brick hard and feels impossible to get out.

  • thank u (^.^)

  • The coloring bottle is a fantastic idea! Thanks for this!

  • THANK YOU for this AWESOME and COMPREHENSIVE video! Seriously, Lady. :D I was a scared scared henna virgin, and your video was so instructive, soooooo funny, and soooooo reassuring on HOW to do it! :D Now, I'm going to henna myself with the same product (which I've had for months but scared to try).

    THANK YOU!!

  • You are so welcome!

  • Did it alter your curl pattern?

  • Not that I noticed. I felt like after a deep condition.

  • Girl you are to funny, love the doggie noise. I really like your henna tutorial.

  • lolz.. g8t help m8ty.. juss a dumb question .. dou fink it cover grey hair red ..? or orange..? n wat u think abt coca brn..? thax 4 da video

  • A perm bottle! GENIUS! Thank you so much for this video. I haven't started mine yet, so I'm finding as much information and as many tips and tricks as I can before hand.

  • does it expire? the henna blocks?

  • I don't know, mine are in the fridge tho.

  • if it doesnt smell weird or change in consistancy, its fine :)

  • i dunno in the description on the site it said it will be "radically red" and i was thinking that it would be nice and really bright but it dident show up bright on you and my hair isent too much lighter then yours so i dont think it will make a change in my hair.....is it worth it?

  • If you are looking for a really red color I think your hair has to be lighter. If you call LUSH they will advise you.

  • thanks xD i just hope i dont have to bleach lol

  • add the reddest tea you can find :) also mix a few blocks of other cacas if you'd like.

It usually works better if you henna afew more times .

  • thanks! this vid is so helpful! I'm thinking of doing my hair with the Noire henna. I hope it turns out good, my hair is really dark brown, so....

  • Caca does it mean what it says because caca in spanish means poop.

  • I think it is a joke@ the company because of what the products looks like.

  • where did you buy ur LUSH Caca Rouge Mama Henna @.

  • do you still henna? and have you seen a difference in hair growth?

  • I have yet to do it again, just because of time. My hair was softer for a while post-henna and of course the color which faded with no incident. It gets darker as it fades so on dark hair it just "goes away". I will do it again.

  • I was curious about LUSH BAQ Henna (how-to), I will purchase some from LUSH soon. Great Vlog :)

  • Did your hair dry out. What type of Henna is this and where did you purchase the Henna?

  • you get it as lush. and she said what the henna is lush is a brand that makes organic bath and beauty products they are amazing xD

  • Great tutorial. In the process of doing my first one now. A food processor is also a good alternative to the cheese grater. Just cut the squares into 4 pieces and put two in at a time.

  • i hear that alot of people can be alergic to henna...is there anyway of testing to find out if you arent?

  • Pure henna doesn't usually cause allergies it is the things that are added to it that do. You really have to check out your products.

  • you look funny with the plastic stuff on your head!!!LOL...it's funny and weird what girls have to go through to look beautiful.. GUYS never understand

  • It's good thing I've got a boyfriend cuz I do all hair tuts and I look like a fright in half of them. :)

  • Hmm.. I really have to try this. Good tips. I want that hello kitty shower curtain...lol

  • I just replaced it with a new one, smaller kitty :D

  • don't forget to add oil before rinsing to ease rinsing or yogurt to help w/ slip (reneezoe)

  • Thanks for the tips especially the plastic bottle...Im hennaing tomm wish me luck :)

  • "ya'll don't know me" lo you are funny-- nice video . have henna in my hair right now

  • okay, ive never seen or heard of henna blocks. thanks for sharing this.

  • You are welcome. Visit my blog :)

  • Excellent video! I mix my henna mixture with yogurt! When you rinse the henna out, it will just slide down the drain! It will make it much easier to rinse out. I also you a conditioner for the final rinse before I shampoo.

  • I'll remember that for next time thanks :)

  • Thanks for the tips on the applicator bottle and the cheese grater. I just did my first application last week and it was a breeze. One thing I did to take it out in the shower:

BEFORE I turned on the water, I used an applicator bottle to put some vegetable oil in. I worked it through, squeezed out some of the "mud", worked a bunch of conditioner through, THEN rinsed, THEN shampooed. It came out really easily and I didn't have to waste as much time or use up all the hot water.

  • Thanks good tip.

  • Where did you get your henna cubs from. And can I use henna over my existing highlights- in the same way that I would use chemical highlights? I would like to purchase the red one like what you had.

  • What song is that?

  • Outkast-Royal Flush

  • I leave mine on over night. I wake up with it all over my sheets. When it heats up while im asleep it melts down my neck and all over my pilliows.

I have pale skin so I have to use Vasaline on my skin for protection.

I have been using henna for 2 years guys and although it can be messy,it's well worth it.

Great vid,I think the fact you grated it made it less messy, and you had an application bottle. Without those , you get a messy lumpy mix which drops all over the place. Great tips! Thanks =)

  • I was warned! Thanks

  • cant u just use a shower cap?

  • yes

  • soo how is it so far did it irritate you? i just bought mines!!

  • I have had no adverse effects. I was just thinking recently that I needed to do it again. I had enough for two application with one purchase.

  • Girl, I loved your henna video, (very entertaining). Oh yeah, the soundtrack was nice too!

  • I kept repeating myself :/ Thank you

  • never heard of solid henna. where is this sold?

  • Me too, I love the way it makes your hair feel. I rinsed my hair firstly in the BATH, and got most of the color out that way. I could still smell it in my hair for a couple days after b/c I wasn't too concerned about getting it out. But the way the comb went through it, I just loved it..

  • Thank you for your help :) Did my hair with the henna from lush (caca rouge ) Had my hubbie help me my hair is very long.Soooo love my hair !!Covered the nasty grey very nicely:) Think l'll try that next time on not shampooing right after. God bless you and your family :) your hair is beautiful :)

  • Thank you

  • Last comment lol. Don't shampoo hair immediately following washing out henna. Rinse it out well, then condition with a nice moisturizing treatment. Comb it all through to help loosen henna on scalp and remaining on hair. Rinse, then go. It has to "cure" in the hair following treatment. So, if you wash it immediately, you weaken the effect of it.

  • I still had Henna coming out the next two shampoos, so I accidentally did what you suggested.

  • I never heard of henna cake. Does it already have oil in it? Where did you buy it? I'm going to be looking for it.

  • Is Henna good for the very fine hair?

  • My hair is fine afterward it didn't feel thicker but it felt healthier and so more likely to do what I wanted. If that makes any sense? :)

  • I've got the same 1 from lush, havent used it yet. It smells sooo nice tho. Great vid btw.

  • Thanks

  • Love the color. Thanks for sharing:)

    I just love Russell! HAHA!

  • Thanks, Russell has his own vid now, see Russells's Movie

  • So has your henna started fading yet? Or any other craziness?

  • No,It just gets darker so it doesn't look red anymore. I like it.

  • Thank you so much! im about to do my hair with henna and i wouldnt have even thought about conditioning.

  • FYI: never allow henna to dry in your hair. That will cause mud hard to remove cake stuff.

  • My Sudanese friend with 3c hair allows it to dry. She removes it by saturating the hair with a good oil like olive or sesame then brushes it through. I think she doesn't cake it in too much, just enough to coat the strands.

  • you go gurl! you are hilarious too! i seen the highlights in the pic under the sun it worked good! imma hate doing henna when i get length to my hair, it's so much easier to do now that it's short...told you the cheese grater would be essential with them lush hennas, luckily you could use hot water since yours was just henna with the caca noir the indigo in mines wouldnt be as strong in darkening..great job on the tutorial video, i luved it ^5!

  • Thanks. :D I don't know where they got clear henna from but it wasn't me.

  • Lol, I love your videos, you are too cute! I tried henna once, and it dried my hair out! Thanks for this :-D

  • Did you do the powder?

  • Yeah, after watching your video, I order the Clear Lush...can't wait to try it

  • Where did you see clear henna on there? lol I was looking for some.

  • I was thinking the same thing... mine was red

  • My henna was called CACA ROUGE it is red/natural henna color.

  • ah sucks...they got clear?! I need dat! I had the caca noir.

  • you junky! lol

  • Very nice! I have never colored my hair EVER even when I was permed and I am curious about the Henna as a natural. I will try this eventually. I am just scared of color in general and the final outcome :-)

  • I had a BAD color experience when I was permed, so I was worried too. The more I read about henna the more I relaxed, unless you are a blonde/light brown the changes are subtle and the color deepens over time so you don't have roots.

  • OHH! So this company's henna is good??

  • It is henna in shea and coco butters with some essential oils handmade into a block and the powders seemed really messy and a pain to mix to me.

  • What a great tutorial/reivew. I have never colored my hair and am thinking about giving this a try for the summer. A nice supple change that is conditioning for my hair. I'm going to look this stuff up!

    Thanx!!

The color looks GREAT in the pix as does your hair - you're working that flower! lol

  • I could definetly see the color in the sun. I love henna and use it everytime I get the time.

  • Thanks.

  • I had no idea my sujection would spark two people.lol Great trick with the bottle. I wanted to try the Caca Rouge but didnt know what color it turn my hair. Im glad I waited now thank you soo much! Your hair looks awesome! The people at lush were acting like it was gonna make my hair bright ruby red lol i was extra scared lol

  • oh yeah should I use cheap conditioner so that I dont waste the good stuff?

  • Yes

  • The people @ LUSH are white. LOL Did you tell them that you weren't blonde?!

  • I did! I told them im african american but techincally multiracial, which is true b/c my hair got problems. I dont know what theyre thinking there b/c ive had white friends who've done henna and it just like with your hair not a big diff.

  • I guess they are being cautious. They don't want people with flaming red hair and that wasn't what they were going for.

  • lol that would be funny but could be a law suit..

  • See what you started sis and you aint even use urs yet! lol I'm glad I took ur advice...cause the BAQ hennas are great but too time consuming to mix and wait for the dyes to release...with Lush u just mix and use..its bad enough you gotta sit with it in your hair for hours already why wait a day to use and it works just as good as the BAQ powders. Monicajoi's hair looks great in the light too. She's the Lush redhead and I'm the Lush brunette now...lol

  • lol Im such a bad influence lol. My cell phone broke soo I had to spend that money on a a new phone. The darn ting blew my product budget for a month! lol
