I think it's a testament to Robert Johnson's skill that he made most of those sounds with just one cheap, Sears-catalog guitar.

@FugginNorb I think the one his father brought him was the sears, the one he came back from Ark. with was a real Stella who a mysterios man named IKE gave him. Ike taught him real chords and notation according to an interview from HoneyBoy Edwards who knew him along with Willie Brown and Son House. Those guys made fun of Robert cause he was a pest, he left and came back almost a year later and outplayed all of his piers.

Respond to this video... Robert Had a brand new Stella really a gibson issue but not really known what exact model. Robert was photographed with a gibson but it was not his, it was a prop used by the photographer. he was buried with his guitar. Ike Zinnerman or Zimmerman taught Robert most of what robert used and gave him a Brand New gibson many players called a Stella. Look for the interviews....its all there
