as an african-american i have always known the differences in africans and can usually see the differences in person. don't make the mistake in thinking african americans are so blind to truth. perhaps the people you know are ignorant but thats by no means an average for all african americans. as far as somalis being genetically related to caucasions, i think the truth of the matter is caucasions may be genetically related to YOU, as YOU came first.
Somalian ppl have a lot of origin from yemen (arab) and some white ancestors... also mixed with other african tribes.. my country has one of the highest population of somalians in europe and my best friends are somalian so i know what im talking about^^ .. peace =) And yeah one can clearly see the difference between a woman from Senegal and Somalia, or a man from Burundi and sudan!

I'm from Somalia, yes we are muslims, yes we have had closer realations with the Arabs, but we are not Arabs. We are Africans of Muslim faith.

It really doesn't matter what anybody says anyway genetic tests prove most Ethiopians, Somli peoples, Djbouti peoples, Eritrean peoples and some Cushitic tribes residing in Western Sudan are not heavily mixed with Arab Cuacasians (who themselves are mixed with Cushitic peoples b/c Cushitics were the first to inhabit Arabia and through the Arab Slave Trade; Also the fact that the Semetic language group originated in the Horn of Africa) and are a mostly pure group.
On average Somalis have less than 15% Eurasian Admixture and 5% Bantu West African admixture. And only two Ethiopian groups have Afro-Arabic peoples. Most people in the region of the Horn of Africa are relativly pure Indegenious Africans.

I told them that our culture is more similar to Southern Arabia and North Africa..they said I was a self-hater. lol.
Well I think that these African-Americans, and sometimes Caribbeans/Latinos, are just finding themselves and have been somehow misinformed that all Africans look alike or share the same culture and or the same language (Africans have different cultures and many languages), when its more complicated and that's farthest from the truth. The racial categories (mongoloid, caucasoid, negroid) were invented social classifications. But the latest DNA technology have helped to prove there's no genetic classification of race. Race doesn't exist genetically..this accounts for why there are African tribes where darker skinned people have blonde hair and blue eyes for example. If you want sources..feel free to ask. peace

I'm from Somalia, yes we are muslims, yes we have had closer realations with the Arabs, but we are not Arabs. We are Africans of Muslim faith.
I believe we are from the same roots as the Eritereans and Oromos and many other east-africans. we are proud to call our selves "black Africans", even when there are differences.

It really doesn't matter what anybody says anyway genetic tests prove most Ethiopians, Somli peoples, Djbouti peoples, Eritrean peoples and some Cushitic tribes residing in Western Sudan are not heavily mixed with Arab Cuacasians (who themselves are mixed with Cushitic peoples b/c Cushitics were the first to inhabit Arabia and through the Arab Slave Trade; Also the fact that the Semetic language group originated in the Horn of Africa) and are a mostly pure group.

There are African Americans (also Caribbeans and Latnos) who are Mixed-Race or have Caucasian ancestry that look like Cushitics. But genetically these peoples are descended mostly from numerous West/Central African tribes and Western Europeans. If foreign aid was the solution to the developing countries' problems, we will not be reading about a 100,000 beggars being removed from the streets of the Ethiopian capital in preparation of the Millenium celebration. This in a city where over 300 aid organization have their offices, the African Union headquarters and main UN African office are housed. You are absolutely right. The aid they try to give is like poison. They would prevent the country they give aid to from farming and producing its own food. I saw this on a documentary about Haiti. The farms were all abandoned because they were forbidden to grow crops. Before food aid, Haiti was one of the biggest exported of rice to America, now they have the worst poverty in the world. Food aid is another form of colonization.

I would like to correct my last post when I said Indians are Caucasian that was pretty closed minded on my part, because as we all know there are different groups in India. The Majority are caucasian but there are also Mongoloid Indians and some of Negroid descent aswell. I should have thought a little before I slumped a ppl into one group.

The racial categories (mongoloid, caucasoid, negroid) were invented social classifications. But the latest DNA technology have helped to prove there's no genetic classification of race. Race doesn't exist genetically..this accounts for why there are African tribes where darker skinned people have blonde hair and blue eyes for example. If you want sources..feel free to ask. peace

You're totally right about tere being no genetic classification of race, but the only reason I was using mongoloid, caucasoid, negroid classification was because when it was asked I assumed the asker wanted to know what they were considered by the bogus social classification. But, yes there are no genetic distinctions and I also believe that the social classifications seperate us as human beings and should be out of use, JMHO.
