Expert village videos are the worse. THE FIRST thing is to get a schematic and understand the circuit. To "Just PROBE" is really BS if you don't know what you are doing or looking for. It is like giving a first year med student a scalpel and say, do some surgery, don't worry about anatomy, just cut.
Amperage draw on battery type equipment can easily be measured without having to cut or unsolder a wire can easily be done.
Take a unused 2 faced circuit board and slip it between two batteries. With the radio controls on. Set your multimeter up to amps and touch each side of the circuit board. The meter will complete the circuit and you can read the amperage.
