  • aaaaahhhhh shit I left the frigging window down

  • That looks like a black hawk down there! ...and it hurts to see that hornet down there

  • Ugh! Brings back memories ...

  • Don't have the pork chops for lunch.

  • that's not a helicopter at the front of the ship, or ist it??? Why did they leave aircraft on deck!!??

  • @shitNameAlert i wonder 2...what is that?

  • @shitNameAlert the storm popped up quicker then they cold put all the aircrafts below deck ?

  • Es increible como una mole de acero puede mantenerce a flote con semejantes holas.... o la naturaleza no puede con la mano del hombre ...o .. el hombre a logrado sortera los embates de l anaturaleza..... IS Beatifull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember going around the horn in 91 and the same thing happened...we almost lost an f-18 and a crewman to one of those waves

  • If the plane's on deck, more than likely, the inlets are plugged, as best they can, to keep the salt water out of them.

  • that was a big wave, amazing. i miss it.

  • we punch the bow of Coral Sea into the middle of a huge wave one night. 88 feet of deck only made it half way into the wave. we spotted it on radar and I ran up from combat to watch in 77

  • This has to experienced to be believed. The ship shudders and shakes with each big wave.

Kinda cool, though, watching the water run off the flight deck. And the hangar deck has its share of water, too.

But later, liberty in the far east!!! Hot Damn!

  • wooh! freaky, this could sink a ship for sure.

  • wouldn't salt water damage the plane and the engines?

  • yes it would. I heard that one mother's son had to take apart a helicopter to clean all the salt off it. You know that stuff is very corrosive. I noticed that most were off the deck. They are able to lower them into the hanger. But, also, on that trip, not all of the air wing went. It wasn't necessary on that trip.

  • Yea, what MomOfSailorOnUSSKH said. I'll just add that even if they weren't visibily damaged though, for safety reasons those aircraft most likely had to be stripped down and inspected

  • hey Thats my jet down there! mace212

  • from the sharedrive servers to You Tube....lol

  • My son is on the Kitty and emailed that if it doesn't make you puke, it really helps you to go to sleep. That was his Helo getting bashed by the waves.

  • wow, that was scary. I hope they keep the sailors below deck during times like these. What a horrible thing, if a sailor were to be washed overboard.

  • impressive, i would not go on that bow lol

  • Thats why I didn't join the navy! I would be chundering below deck everyday.

Those carriers are freekin amazing though.

  • when I was on the Sara she barely rocked... the waves here are a surfer's dream... I'd hate to be on a small boy in that sea... care to stroll on the bulkheads?
