I am looking for information for flux core 3g and 4g carbon plate test on a 3/8" just guessing on size since I don't know the information on the test other than its a 3g and 4g on flux core just need to know the volts and wire speed for 3g and 4g. I know that you can't go downhill on flux core for 3g. any information would be appreciated.
I noticed on one of your G3 vertical up welding your root pass is vertical down. Is that allowed when taking your test. I have always found it much easier to go down than to go up.
@TheSolofalcon1 Lol, reminds me of my welding class, all under 21 years old... so of course when teach said "ok, to get complete penetration in the butt joint...." all everyone hears is "complete penetration in the butt" it's like this everyday haha
I would assume that the root pass is a filler or foundation with which to go back and lay a heavier weave pass on top of thus ensuring a stronger weld?
justna qusetion when you do the c kinda paattern when welding do you cover some of your slag and making it a weaker weld ... i was always taught in school to do a z type pattern so you dont cover your slag

I'm doing this in my school right now, hard stuff.
settings (im from sweden): MAG/arc 5.1m/sec 17.5amp Mison-18 15litre/min
this video helped alot! ;)
glitchTF 9 months ago
@glitchTF 17.5 volt i think it is, not amp
glitchTF 9 months ago
@glitchTF
I think thats more gas you need..
Usually I go with 5 - 7 l/min and seems to be enough. (mison 18)
ofc filled wires require more gas but I go with regular 0.8mm wire so gas settings should be enough.
all this cos gas is expensive.. 200bar fill about 120-140eur in finland nowadays :/

Awesomeness.

what is a root pass and a weave pass? and what other kinds of passes that exist and what are their purposes
can you expand on that ?
also is there a way to anneal or stress relieve a weld in-place using maybe an oxy-fuel torch and an insulator like fiberglass batts ?
thanks, your videos are awesome
would you comments on other's people video and explain the good and bad practives you observe ?
