In the comics it had something to do with Superman Prime (or the Golden Age Superman or someone like that) bashing the walls of reality and creating ripples in time. His return was just one thing that was messed with.

Hey, I might be wrong. But, there was a big deal about Tim Drake NEVER wanting to be BATMAN.He becomes RED ROBIN like Dick became NIGHTWING. After being stranded in the distant past and believed dead, Bruce Wayne has returned and is prepared to take his war on crime to the next level,essentially "franchising" it and drafting, training and commanding a global team of heroes who will answer to Batman himself.
