Iced Earth - Overture + Something Wicked (Part 1)

You know, I originally didn't hold this album too well, especially after I had initially listened to Crucible of Man and even Dystopia, even though I only enjoyed about 3-4 songs from that album.

Regardless, it really only was after a long lonesome drive did I listen to this album, and I have to say, it's probably my favorite of Iced Earth.

It really helps explain a great deal of their other songs and albums especially Prophecy, which I originally thought was a song about 9/11.

Matt Barlow IS the voice of Iced Earth, as the fans and Schaffer himself have come to express. But the undue stigma Tim received for filling those shoes has always irked me. The man is an amazing vocalist. Iced Earth would have been fine with him. Songs catered to his style like A charge to keep show that, in time, he could have bridged that gap.

My first Iced Earth album was this one, and I was sold when I heard this song. He tears the cracks in the wall with his voice. Seeing him do this live is stunning. And I definitely like Barlow, but Owens is certainly brilliant in his own way. Btw, his performance on the new Avantasia is stunning as well :)

Horror Show was the first Album I ever heard of theirs. Then one day I bought The Blessed and the Damend and realized that this band was glorious!!! I have since bought every album with the exception of Crucible of Man cause I ain't got no money now lol.
