It happens every single day in football, in every league, in every country. The fact of the matter is that it is up to the refs to determine which are true fouls and which are dives, and that ref blew it, which wasn't surprising because the officiating in WC06 what absolutely HORRIBLE all across the board.

With the penalty, It's 50/50. The ref is spanish and the spanish and Italian leagues give fouls for the slightest bump. The epl is quicker and physical, if the ref was from epl, there's a good chance Grosso's appeals would have been waved away.
The epl refs usually don't whistle certain physical tackles on the pitch which instead are sanctioned in any country else ( if they are committed outside the box-area )
But any epl footballer will confirm that this would have been sanctioned in the premiership games in the same way .

It's only cheating if you are caught doing it. It's up to the ref to determine which fouls in the box are legit and which are not, he blew the call, it's on him, don't blame Grosso. And again, it was only fair that Italy got that pk because the red card WAS bullshit and changed the game...if Italy hadn't been playing a man down the entire game they probably would have won in normal time without needing a pk.

It happens every single day in football, in every league, in every country. And the referees are falling for it so often that you have to ask yourself how much they payed them. Pressure alone is no excuse. With the penalty, It's 50/50. The ref is spanish and the spanish and Italian leagues give fouls for the slightest bump. The epl is quicker and physical, if the ref was from epl, there's a good chance Grosso's appeals would have been waved away.

If the Italians had managed to deliberately provoke Zidane, they would have done it

I don't know if the Italians were worthy winners of the 2006 WC. But what I do know is that they're style of play is not an admirable one. I think it's weak that they had to dive (Aus vs Italy PK) and use ditry strategy (Zidane vs Materiazzi) to win the WC.

I don't agree that Totti + Grosso are morons/pathetic or whatever. What I believe though is that the last minute penalty is unjust. I've never watched a game where a penalty takes place at the 92/93rd minute (if I remember correctly). That's just handing the win over to Italy. Even the Italian player Gattuso himself admits that this was a controversial penalty.

I often debate with many English users and none of them ever complained about my English or told me he struggled to make sense of my "awful" English, but you Aussies have probably a better knowledge of English language than same English people ......D !

Also get informed that in my country is supposed to be as the same freedom of speech as in Australia ( I can name you some Europe's countries who could tell you that in Italy there's even too much freedom of speech ...) and so you have the right to post whatever comments you like more, so I have your same right to call them ridiculous,senseless,bizarre and one-way sided .
