@bsting601 (sadly) I am old enough to remember Group B Audi quattro in a frozen Grizedale forest stage ('86??) LOMBARD RAC RALLY. It was fantastic to see them come through in the dusk, snow and ice, discs glowing red, tyres chirping... then follow that sound, echoing through the forest as they ran and down the valley to finish the stage. Fabulous, distinctive noise... A land mark car.

walter rohl once said that this car was the hardest to drive, was very powerful, too poweful perhaps, the s 1 only wan in san remo in 85.... i saw in madrid in 91 in the race of the champions, and one never can't forget that brutal sound....!indeed was a radical car!

Stig unfortunately didnt get the chance to take the S1 on the Monte back in 86' but you can see how he would have taken it on. Stig's style varied from rohrl and mikkola in the sense that stig was the biggest risk taker. Always flicking the car around his personality changed when in the drivers seat for sure!!

no it has one big turbo!

and it didn´t has 600hp "just" about 530!

but even with 530hp it got to fast for rallye racing!

a rallye has not to be nice but fast and fast is the s1!

Great car. But notice that they don't have the rifle crack explosions any more? I believe that all the anti lag systems were removed which is a shsme, because even when you do get to see the cars running today, they do not sound any where near as exciting as they did back then.

I think this is the car Michelle Mouton won Pikes Peak with 1985. Though just being a kid in those golden days, I still remember these flamethrowing, breathtaking monsters disguised as automobiles. The sound was indeed...impressive. And watching this vid, one could hardly belive old Master Blomqvist is close to the 70, or that the car is priceless. Maximum attack!
