  • I liked this movie, but I think it would've got it's five stars if it had Sean Connery.

  • BEN AFFLECK WAS LIKE A LITTLE KID IN THE FIRST HALF OF THIS MOVIE. NO WHERE NEAR MEN LIKE HARRISON FORD OR ALEC BALDWIN

  • @PENAFIELBOY A-Freakin-Men!!! He totally ruined Jack Ryans character. I mean, I don't think Tom Clancy's actually that good of a novelist, but he's always had strong characters. Harrison Ford was good at playing the mature, family-man version of Jack, while Allec Baldwin was a good fit for the younger, more niave, everyman Jack Ryan, but Ben Afflec just made Jack seem like an immature punk. The director even said in an interview that the movie is not part of the other movies' cannon.

  • Man this movie sucked a FU Ben A you still can't act..

  • lmao @ freemans laughter when our guy tells his spouse he works for the cia

  • The most underated movie of all time...

  • americain dont give a rats''ass

  • Worst. Adaptation. Ever.

  • Not that bad of a movie, but it doesn't hold a candle to HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, PATRIOT GAMES, or CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER. I'd like to see a new Jack Ryan film with Ford playing an older Ryan as president like in the books.

  • @SLPIFan

"Not that bad of a movie, but it doesn't hold a candle to HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, PATRIOT GAMES, or CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER."

Seriously ... name ONE good thing about this movie ?

  • @gladio4ever

    Morgan "The Man" Freeman!

  • @SLPIFan

Hmmmm..... In portions of the film yes.

However in most of the scenes where Morgan Freeman is there, we also have to watch Ben Affleck - and sucks epicly in this movie.

So I will only give you a 1/2 point for that

    XD

  • gotta hate those fucking nazis

  • thats so lame. XD

  • ben affleck is as fun to watch as paint drying, the movie was good, if only they had a better jack ryan

  • @Tadicuslegion78 Harrison Ford is a bettter, more believable Jack Ryan.

  • @flacoferlife he's to damn old for a jack Ryan.

  • you i have to say, this trailer looks NOTHING like the book

the book was amazing and I recommend it to everyone

  • Worst Clancy movie period. Please remake with Matt Damon.

  • movie was great. very overlooked

  • Am I the only that notices that Ben Affleck absolutely sucks as an actor. This was almost painful to watch because of him.

  • @armandx10 I know its a good movie plot and well made but Afleck ruins it for me

     : (

  • @ChrisFlipsAlot no shit. even I hate him

  • Affleck was soooo awful in this movie. Replace him with a competent actor and make the terrorists be like they were in the book and it would have been good.

  • @chukmaty

Totally agreed. Alec Baldwin did a good job when he played the same character in Hunt for Red October, but thats 20 years ago.

Affleck is just another brainless action actor.

  • lol this trailer is like the whole movie. lame

  • This is what 2012 is.

  • this was a great movie.

    but seriously FUCK affleck

  • wow. deep.

  • Wasnt that black guy in The Hunt for Red October, and was the looking glass commander in Till Dawns Early Light.

  • No, that was James Earl Jones.

  • The trailer is more of a spoiler in my opinion.

  • *Nuke

  • Harison Ford was a way better Jack Ryan John Clark was fine as Willem or liev

  • To be fair...I would have to say that Liev was a closer portrail of Tom Clancy's description of John Clark-in earlier books such as Debt of Honour....but both actors are good choices....and play John Clark well in their own different styles.

  • Does Liev Schreiber die in this??

  • Comment removed

  • No, he doesn't.

  • i love freeman's laugh

  • America will nuke the american people very soon.

    hahahahah!!!!

  • Liev Schreiber's casting as John Clarke was somewhat poles apart from the John Clarke we knew from Rainbow Six or Clear and Present Danger. He carries himself like an english teacher from an opulent boys school or something, rather than a former Navy SEAL turned covert ops agent

  • I agree. I LOVED Willhem DaFoe as John Clark. I did NOT like Ben Afleck as Jack Ryan.

  • They might as well have casted Ashton Kutcher or fucken Owen Wilson into it, because Ben looked nothing more like a typical spoilt brat who happened to to get the role from the back of a corn flakes box... either that, or the producers were experimenting to find a suitable replacement to Harrison Ford whose getting too old to be running around, but should be put in a special guest role in the oval office or something

  • I agree, TC. They need someone slightly nerdy but cute to play a young Jack Ryan. Ben was too much of a pretty-boy. They just really screwed up all the characters in the movie. Maybe it was an attempt by the CIA to encourage a younger generation to sell their souls to the Agency, so they could shoot (I mean retire) their old horses. Idunno. ;D Anyway, whoever the girl was who played Cathy Ryan just wasn't Ann Archer.

  • A shame that the directors always cast a horrible actor to play Jack Ryan (alec baldwin, ben faglec). The only semi decent Jack Ryan was Harrison Ford.

  • Actually, I think Alec Baldwin was a perfect Jack Ryan. Harrison Ford would have made a better John Clark. Ben Affleck didn't fit, I agree.

  • Harrison Ford's too soft to play John Clark... Willem Dafoe was ideal, as he portrays an ex Vietnam SEAL/CIA operative..... That sort of role can't be placed onto somebody any younger as it detracts from the original character storyline

  • @TCFan25 Tom Clancy preferred Alec Baldwin to Harrison Ford because he thought the character of Jack Ryan was closer in age to Baldwin.

  • @forexrobots212 Baldwin has the right stuff for a high profile govt official as opposed to Ford... who looks a bit scruffy looking and somewhat inept and not as tactful.

  • I love the ending of this movie

  • This is showing on 'Watch' tommorow at 10:00pm

  • What is the debt that all men pay? Death will be the ultimate equaliser of all people, and no I WILL NOT WANT US TO BE EQUALISED BY NUKES. The invention of nuclear weapons is not an excuse to use such a technology to destroy half of the human race. Thus nuclear weapons should not be destroyed now just because they are too lethal, but ANY NATION AND LEADER HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO DESTROY THE WEAPONS BY FORCE IF THEY SEE THE WEAPONS AS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO THE WORLD.

  • What the HELL does this have to do with anything?

  • The Russians should get their asses out of chechnya and the Americans should get their asses out of Iraq.

  • i agrre

  • I have a huge favor!!! The American and Russian President, I need some quotes from their talks to each other and addressing their nations. From this movie...

  • In the closing speeches towards the end of the movie, I didn't catch what Pres. Fowler (James Cromwell) said. Meanwhile, Russian Pres. Nemerov (Ciarán Hinds) quoted an excerpt of JFK's commencement address at American University in Washington (June 10, 1963) in his speech:

"...our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal."

  • i've just finished the book Sum of all fears, and i think its pretty different from the book >_>

  • affleck is a disgrace to Tom Clancy and Jack Ryan

  • Liev Schreiber isn't too far behind either (J. Clarke)

  • Its a good film and the best ive seen with Ben in

  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war, but i hardly feel that killing innocent lives is necessary. As harsh as it sounds, there are casualties during war, but to aim towards wiping out civilisations. Truman wanted to continue bombing, and he is by far in my book, the most immoral man alive, not far behind Hitler and Stalin, but at least they aimed for something other than just pointless destruction

  • Wouldn't you agree though, that the President's job is to put American lives first? And if that means that save potentially tens of thousands of American soldiers and even many Japanese Civillians, that nuclear weapons had to be used, wouldn't you agree that it is the presidents moral responsibility to uphold his oath and carry out his duty? It doesn't matter whether you think it was right or wrong. I don't like it myself. It is the presidents duty to do what needs to be done to save US lives

  • I would NEVER agree that a President's job would be to allow a bomb to kill so many INNOCENT lives. President always comes behind being a Human Being. To be honest wuld u hav said the same thing if Japan had done it to the US, because I know I wuld be defending the victims. Dont get me wrong Im not attack America Im attacking the decision to create such a thing! Russia has them, a lot of nations do and I hav no repsect for any tht still keeps them safely locked up

  • Of course I would not like it if Japan had bombed the US. The truth is, the President has to make the decision of which he thinks would be worse. Do you think invading Japan would have worked considering we bombed an entire city and the Japanese government didn't care? We have to keep our nuclear weapons and we will never be able to get rid of any of them until we build a reliable misssile shield. Nuclear weapons are the only thing stopping a nuclear war.

  • Of course, because tearing apart civilians using tanks (Chechnya), bombing civilians (Georgia) and sodomizing your own troops in hazing rituals(Russian military) is for the greater good of Humanity.

  • At the end of the day every nation has its dark points, Im just sayin that a lot of people forget that. Russia right now is doing something I would call disgusting, they called a ceasefire but I still hear death. But the US still droped a bomb and changed the world forever (especially for the nest 40 years)

  • Thats a good movie but it's a shame they had to change the storyline cause of 9/11 and use these nazi guys instead of the arabs.

  • Although it's easy to see why u said tht, it's not actually the reason they changed it. The movie was shot and finished BEFORE the attacks. It was finished in June 2001, 3 months before the attacks. The reasons why they changed itfrom the book was because Muslim extremists would not be able to carry off what actually hapened in the film. That and the fact people were getting tired of muslim villains. Really good movie though

  • thx, didn't know that.

  • i love the irony of that,

but greatest danger is underestemating your 'ennemy'

  • but they were Russians, not Germans...

  • It's a good film, I think they even partly based a Sotuh Park episode on it.

  • in australia

  • haha did u watch this trailer to see what the movie was going to be like? ahaha thats what im doing right now LOL

  • yeah. thats what i always do, when i see that there is going to be a movie on tv i always watch the trailer first.

im watching this right now on channel 10. i only came here because there is a break

  • haha yeah same man, its the only way haha

  • gonna be on tv tonight! inaustralia

  • holy crap! was that Ben Affleck!?

  • I bet this movie is very biased, from the american point of view

  • Of course it is, it doesn't really represent Russia in bad light ( I don't think ). but there is some biased viewpoints of Russia present.

Then again, it's Hollywood, you can't expect much realism or historical/political accuracy.

  • ha, got that right, but i love:

    Like u did in Chechnya?

U droped the bomb on Hiroshima, u droped the bomb on nagasaki, so dnt lecture me on Cechnya

  • This movie is so smart, it shows u the intricate nature of politics "dangerous". Also that; a nuke war btw USA and Russia will end in a suicide aka no winner!

  • i just notice it like that south park ep "it the russians that planted the nuke no the russians are working for terrorist no the russians are" but some how its the british because they were our first enmeys

  • ben aff is the largest disgrace against the jack ryan legacy

  • muie

  • my dad painted the air force one plane in this movie

  • cool! is it only a model plane? or studio plane? or a real flying plane?

  • nope, its a real flying plane.. 747 i believe. My dad is an artist and they hired him to do the work.. strip, paint prep and paint. it was awesome to see it all done and watch it on t.v

  • wow, impressive! I wish I could something like that :)

  • The first scene in this fun funny.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Technical Overlook: Typically electronics are knocked out in close proximity to a above ground nuclear blast by EMP and radiowaves are very limited. So his helicopter radio would probably not work. A detonation a few hundred miles above earth would magnify that by 1,000 times over 100,000 times the area. See Operation Star Fish.

  • It's a shame they altered the nature of the terrorists. The book had them as arabs (their nationality or nationalities are never directly referred to but they operate out of SW Syria) working with former members of the Stasi and the Baader-Meinhof Group, the former motivated by a startlingly successful peace deal over control of Jerusalem, the latter threatened by the end of the cold war and the end of their backing by the Soviet Union.

  • LOL

  • Wish Liev Schrieber had a bigger part. He ROX

  • Anyone but me who thinks Tom Clancy is T H E best author of all time when it comes to thrillers?

  • I wish this movie was as good as the book.

  • BURN

  • A blockbuster...like every movie based on Tom Clancy's novels

  • The Hunt for Red Octber was the best.
