  • scotlands finest and scotland has some fine bands

  • one of my all time fav's.. ; )

  • ah still like lorraine socks

  • For me this is there best song that they ever did. Love all there tracks but if i'm abroad and play any deacon blue song i think of home and Scotland. Hope to see them on tour real soon.

  • BELLISSIMA...ETERNAMENTE BELLISSIMA !!!!!

  • There's a great feeling to this song and video. Looks like great fun. They were all out having a great time and Ricky and Lorraine young and in love. They have these videos now to look back on as part of their relationship too! Married with 3 kids now! Happy ending to a great partnership on and off stage. Top tune. Scotland's got talent!

  • I could listen to this all day ! Brings back good memories !

  • There's a real joy and innocence about this song and the video. However naff they might have been, I still love this song !

  • Not the Best Dancers I've ever seen

  • ah like lorraines socks

  • best song on the album

  • ibiza 1988 full album was the soundtrack to a fantastic holiday

  • in my top 3 songs of all time

  • if u dont like this song your deed

  • fantastic song one of my favs amazing

  • OOff, I watched the whole video.

  • great song dont make them like that nowadays music nowadays crap

  • Loraine is sweet and beautiful RICK is very hansome and smart Man i love Deacon...always

  • lorraine is a good looking girl.

  • They never achieved the deserved acclaim here in Italy.

  • And had a huge crush on Lorraine as a spotty teen...with hindsight Ricky was welcome to her...though she has a brilliant voice. Just not as hot as my rose-tinted memories say she was,

  • @andyhmfc1 Have a look at the Chocolate Girl vid and then say she's not totally gorgeous!

  • Still one of the best concerts I ever went to - Edinburgh Playhouse circa 1988-89. They played for about 3 hours without a break, every song off Raintown is a classic, felt lucky to have seen them at that time, when they were at the top of their game.

  • Despite a general appreciaton, still an underrated BEATIFUL song.

  • If this brilliant single had been re-released after real gone kid or the re-released ..dignity it would have been a top 5 hit, great song.

  • grande pezzo

  • My god, how can someone say Deacon Blue and U2 in the same sentence.....ooops

My point is U2 is way over rated while DB deserves the popularity that U2 had/has

  • first track I ever heard of theirs - I remember it being on the chart show - another 80's throwback.......what a band...

  • Love it!!

  • Deacon Blue = Class Act

  • what a song.xxxxxxxxxx

  • Queen of the new year was bad

  • Use to play this full blast in my younger days when i had one shandy too many.Carefree days and wonderful songs.

  • in a ford cortina?that would be awesome like

  • how feckin lovely wis that

  • I bet nobody can think of a bad song by Deacon Blue.

  • By far my favourite song by Deacon Blue

  • Going places - paceville....best summer ever

  • Nice to see them fooling around on the car bonnet, though. Filmed in a time before the Health & Safety police were around to stop them.

  • Well said mate... Great Video but wouldent go down well with the police now a days... As you said " The Health And Saftey Police " Cant beat that one... Great tune as well

  • Great song, great band, God awful video. Still, it was the eighties, so I suppose I'll let them off this once.

  • A timeless classic. It's about the idea that the rich can be persuaded to care about society despite being loaded. An optimistic view in 1987, but even less true in 2009. A great band on every level.

  • this was the first cd i ever bought. god i feel old!! loved deacon blue but joined the navy in 1991 and never got my cd back!! great memories apart from being on the dole!!

  • I was Deacon Blue fan, but I never had a chance to watch their music videos at that time, and I just avoided to watch them. But this is the good one to watch, I think. All members looked very very young...

  • I remember my 1st kiss with my 1st girlfriend undercover of a rain day in Nov. 87... Forever young...

  • Got a huge wave of nostalgia watching this. Can't believe so much time has gone by since first hearing Raintown.

    Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

  • i forgot how brilliant this song was along with chocolate girl my two fave songs from a fantastically underrated band.

  • I love this song!! its such a feel good song!! we don't really get feel good songs like this anymore!! always liked deacon blue!

We just get crap from bands who just care about getting our money!!

  • Love Raintown, fantastic. Was this particular track ever released as a single, or is it just a cracking album track? Cheers.

  • Yes it was definitly (for this reason we have this great videoclip of it) The other three singles were "When Will You (Make My Phone Ring)", "Chocolate Girl" and "Dignity"

There is also a beautiful live-version of "When Will you..." from the year 1989 here on youtube, in very good quality! (and much more!) ;)

  • This whole album (Raintown) is sooo amazing! One of the best in Pop for sure. One cracker after the other it contains... great great songs...

  • This reminds me of a holiday many years ago. Before going out every night, my mate and I would drink vodka and sing this, she was Ricky and I was Lorraine... happy days

  • Class my friends! come and check out there new song! "love is plenty"

  • id forgotten how good this song was!

  • we dont get bands or even great songs like this many more... they had the lyrical smarts and the passion... fair play deacon blue.. raintown has to be one of the best albums from my youth... it covered all the emotional bases and added something special to the mix too...

  • this should have been a huge hit i have sung it and everyone thinks its my own song i love this song

  • one of deacon blue's best songs i think its overlooked and underated i luv it . the song is great when cruising along the motorway at speed

  • Me too. That just made me cry with .... happiness i suppose. Things were so much simpler in the 80's. Wow, i'm full of emotion. very unexpected response,

  • can't believe i dug this album (record not CD!!!) out this weekend and forgot just how beautiful this tune was/is...way ahead of so many of their great tunes!

  • Wonder if Ricky was still with his ex wife when this video was shot ? If so she would have freaked at the sparks flying between Ricky and Lorraine eh !

  • lorrane fae river city , jusus shes got tallent that mrs ricky ross.

  • They are the bestest group ever. Great weekend they had in Glasgow.

  • this song is fantastic, however if u have the big picture on video they do a longer version live which is even better than this supurb version(saw them perform it at wembley arena in 1989 their live over christmas gig,one of the best live bands ever)

  • Awesome song, scary fuckin dancin tho man haha

Funny story, me uncle went on holiday with Ricky to Spain, din't really know him proper to begin with like, just a friend of a friend. Anyway they were chillin on the beach or sumat and Ricky started goin on bout ow e'd just put a new record out. So they went down to the record store in wherever the fuck they were and they ad quite a few of the record in and they were pretty shocked. When they got back to Glasgow, Raintown was top 20 in the charts.

  • great story, grammar needs some work like, but great story

  • You're probably right, but one simply can't expect impeccable grammar rules application in songwriting, can one?!

  • one of the best bands ever going to see them in glasgow on 7th dec cannot wait

  • Great Song brilliant band my fav as a teenager! Going to see them play support (ahh) to Simple Minds in Odyessy Belfast on Dec 6th. Cant wait!!!!

this is a brilliant song from scotlands best ever band.

  • Yes DBs guitarist died a couple of years ago of heart failure! The guy from Del Amitri plays for them sometimes I think!GKs obit was in Guitarist magazine! He was only in early 40s!!Sorry!

  • jesus thats sad, and so young. did he leave a family behind ? im in shock, how sad.

  • Sweet and tender 80's

  • How many of us grown up with Deacon Blue? LOng live the dream.

  • Superb group. Have nearly all their CDs of their albums as well as cassettes.

Top class group, really love them.

  • I'd forgotten how brilliant Deacon Blue were

  • Lorraine, you are one sexy lady

  • just seen them in manchester,as good as they were in the 80s, infact better,, only u2 can better them live and thats sayin something..

  • Fantastic night is was...Listening to the live cd now..Excellent

  • @babgprincess Different type of music i admit but bands like Rush,Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath etc also sound better now than they used to ! They`ve played these songs so many times it becomes like second nature !! They can mess about and interact with the audience more `cos they dont have to remember the chord changes etc as much !! Peace Ye`all !!

  • superb record

  • Their best song-just seen them live in Newcastle and they are just as good as they were in the 80's

  • Can't wait to see them again!!!!The Manchester Apollo next week yes yes yes

Have a look on my site Ricky Ross is a big influence on my song writing, see what you think.

  • thats soooo eighties, love it!

  • A great and beatifoul song.
