I'm beginning to re-evaluate my opinion of Argerich's approach to this piece... absolutely love the cadenza. I always thought of this work as lighter and more playful (and I found Martha's approach aggressive and tumultuous)... but she gives it a majestic scale and very dramatic character, and I'm becoming a convert on repeated hearings!
Wow, she really sets the cadenza on fire! I wonder why she never plays this concerto anymore. I think her ferocity and forward momentum really suit the piece!
Thank you soooo much for this! (And also for the Totentanz.) This just makes my day. Actually I moved right into the cadenza, and sure enough, Martha just blazes through it in a way that only she can. Awesome!

After those final chords I just howled and howled, and screamed out horrible imprecations, that we don't get no more...

I had been sad because I thought Martha never recorded these, until now. But I am heartbroken that I can't listen to my two favorite movements!

I knew this existed, but despaired of ever hearing it (like her Beethoven Op. 101). Thanks so much for posting it! The cadenza is phenomenal.

Her Beethoven 101 was released on CD - some Italian Label; you might be able to find it for sale on the web.
