An uncle of mine, also a composer and friend of Mancini's, said he was never without a tune in his head. Always had a notebook or grabbed the back of a receipt or a napkin to jot down whatever was coming to him at the time.

It would seem Mancini, Porter and Gershwin delightfully confused a lot of people. (I can't tell you how many times I fell in love with one of their songs in the background!) Thanks for posting this one ... I always feel young and hopeful when I hear it.

Great music to put on when you have guests for dinner. Really nice in the background. Also, very nice while sitting on the sofa with your favorite guy, soft lights and a glass of wine. Sets the mood quite nicely.
This reminds me of a song from a TV series in the sixties. For the life of me I can't remember the show. Many of the great composers wrote the theme music for shows during that era.
fantastic music - so evocative of the 1960's..... my 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible will be through its restoration in a few weeks... this will be the FIRST thing I play in it!!!
I remember my mom had this album. I was only about 9 or 10 years when this was new, but even as a child, I appreciated good music. This reminds me of a much more innocent time and good times with my mom. I wish I had a time machine right now! LOL!
I absolutely love this song. In the late 1960's, this was one of the first songs I learned how to play on organ because my parents had a Mancini songbook with this in it. It was only a couple of years ago that I first heard the original and it is a very lush and beautiful arrangement. I believe this song has an alternate title called "A Slow Hot Wind," at least that's what I remember from the sheet music. Thank you for posting this.
Fantastic work of perfection.Been looking out for this track ever since i heard it on Tv adverts but didn't know the title of it.Ohh boy what a find ! !
Boswell69,thank you a ten times for sharing this awfully nice Track.
This song is so beautiful and relaxing, I listen to it almost everytime I get on the internet. Henry you were and still are one of the all time great composers.
Actually, I believe a Lujon is a rather large, square-shaped percussion instrument that hails from Central Africa. The "head" of the Lujon is skin from some animal (a wilderbeast, I think) that is stretched over the top and tapped lightly with a mallet- the Lujon is hollow as there is an opening at the bottom that acts as an echo chamber.
The Lujon being played is that congo-sounding "sound" you hear at the very beginning of this song.
i also listened tt in the movie "Two Lovers"...i rememebered to have listened maybe on a tv spot of armani parfum....however this music is so evocative, intense and dramy i wouldn't never stop listening.
@antonietto1 That's exactly where I heard it (in the film, "Two Lovers", which I just saw for the first time tonight. It brought back such memories though - and made me think of Esquivel - out of the blue. Funny how songs can do that to you.
I loved the way how this song was used in "Sexy Beast", classic scene and great movie...Kingsley, Winstone and McShane all turned in awesome performances !!!
@MrTeddyBass Yeah - me too...Gotta love Sexy Beast...BTW - is anyone else still upset that HBO's "Deadwood" staring Ian McShane got pulled way too soon?
