  • An uncle of mine, also a composer and friend of Mancini's, said he was never without a tune in his head. Always had a notebook or grabbed the back of a receipt or a napkin to jot down whatever was coming to him at the time.

  • It would seem Mancini, Porter and Gershwin delightfully confused a lot of people. (I can't tell you how many times I fell in love with one of their songs in the background!) Thanks for posting this one ... I always feel young and hopeful when I hear it.

  • @MultiAmvc Funny how the years kinda melt away when you hear something like this.

  • This is quite sensual...

  • wong kar wai

  • I love this... it takes me to another place......

  • Great music to put on when you have guests for dinner. Really nice in the background. Also, very nice while sitting on the sofa with your favorite guy, soft lights and a glass of wine. Sets the mood quite nicely.

  • This reminds me of a song from a TV series in the sixties. For the life of me I can't remember the show. Many of the great composers wrote the theme music for shows during that era.

  • @pjerrett

    Um, how about Mr. Lucky?

  • Mancini can really set the mood!! Days of Wine & Roses, Moon River...........

  • @pjerrett Mr Lucky

  • Mancini always had one ear to the Gods of Music. This song is one of his many works that will live on forever.

  • inspirational

  • Heard this in two movies and i couldn't find it until now.. Freakin amazing how chill this is...

  • I absolutely love this song. In the late 1960's, this was one of the first songs I learned how to play on organ because my parents had a Mancini songbook with this in it. It was only a couple of years ago that I first heard the original and it is a very lush and beautiful arrangement. I believe this song has an alternate title called "A Slow Hot Wind," at least that's what I remember from the sheet music. Thank you for posting this.

  • magnifique, relaxant, agréable

  • I'm so happy to have found this beautiful haunting piece so quickly! Bless you my friend! :)

Boswell69,thank you a ten times for sharing this awfully nice Track.

  • Also look up:

    Natalie Williams - "Psychedelic Love"

  • Inspired music!!

  • Isn't this also "Slow Hot Wind"?

  • @cflorezgroup Yes, originally this, then they put words to it.....

  • wow!

  • It's also used in the film Two Lovers with Joaquin Phoenix and Gweneth Paltrow.

  • It's used some on the UK version of "The Apprentice".

  • That's too bad.

  • Rest in peace, Henry. We miss you terribly.

  • This song is so beautiful and relaxing, I listen to it almost everytime I get on the internet. Henry you were and still are one of the all time great composers.

  • I agree.

  • Actually, I believe a Lujon is a rather large, square-shaped percussion instrument that hails from Central Africa. The "head" of the Lujon is skin from some animal (a wilderbeast, I think) that is stretched over the top and tapped lightly with a mallet- the Lujon is hollow as there is an opening at the bottom that acts as an echo chamber.

The Lujon being played is that congo-sounding "sound" you hear at the very beginning of this song.

  • This orchestra is remarkable, imho. The best technical fireworks is the long run midway in the violins.

  • Oh, I forgot. And most importantly, thanks agains for posting this.

  • @larryboyofok I listen to it almost every time I watch The Big Lebowski.

  • Look up "No More Sweet Music" by hooverphonic...it's basically the same song with a modern beat.

  • thank you verymuch for the information.bye

  • i also listened tt in the movie "Two Lovers"...i rememebered to have listened maybe on a tv spot of armani parfum....however this music is so evocative, intense and dramy i wouldn't never stop listening.

  • Yes. A real beautiful song.

  • @antonietto1 That's exactly where I heard it (in the film, "Two Lovers", which I just saw for the first time tonight. It brought back such memories though - and made me think of Esquivel - out of the blue. Funny how songs can do that to you.

  • This song is so pretty. It's so nice and exotic!

  • lo escuche por primera vez en la pelicula two lovers y quede maravillado por su sensualidad y arreglo ,magnifica eleccion boswell69

  • I first heard this in the movie Sexy Beast and instantly fell in love with it! It takes me to siomple times and great memories!

  • I came across it only yesterday while watching 'Two Lovers'.

The song made for a memorable Manhattan sequence.

  • I'm also surprised it's not more well known. I fell in love with it after hearing it in the movie "Two Lovers", but it turns out i'd heard it used in other movies and tv shows. i didn't even recognize that it was henry mancini!

  • too ill for my ears. wow.

  • I always enjoy Sr. Mancini's "Lujon" ... very

exotic and reminds me of an island paradise! (Serg Mendes covered it as "Slow Hot Wind" but nothing compares to the original by HM) I need to get this cd! Muchas gracias, Boswell! ;-) 5*+
