The reason nuclear power is so expensive is because fanatical people like Dr. I-Have-A-Book-To-Sell-You try to focus the publics attention on drama and hyperbole.

I think something important to think about the shear amount of space that would be required for solar/wind power plants to even be viable sources of energy. To power NCSU's campus we would need a solar field the size of NC.

Fun fact: Germany which is anti-nuclear, buys power from France which produces most of that from Nuclear.  :)

If Japan feels threatened (I think they fear North Korea more than China, IMHO) and decides to possess Nuclear Weapons, NOTHING we do will stop them.

Based on these facts, I don't see the reason why we are cutting ourselves short.
