Great art direction and writing by the people at Looking Glass; the cutscenes and phrases from the builder, the pagans and the keepers are among the best I've seen in a game, they seriously beat the shit out of so called "writers" and celebrity authors nowadays.

like a friend said, it's awesome when other people play it at ur computer, and they ask u for the minimap, and they just see a piece of paper, with a big blue area on it that indicates which area u r :P the surprise and that feeling of being lost in their eyes is priceless!

i like these games, they actually take skill and the shadow is your best weapon, Splinter Cell is good but Thief relies a lot more on stealth, and all you have are your arrows, Sam has gadgets, he has or used to have Lambert in his ear advising him but in thief its just you, the dark and as you play you feel like a thief since you rely so much on the dark, you're the vulnerable one, sword fighting is a last resort and most of the time you'll get owned if you try to fight.

Best games ever.

I can barely believe that the original voices had English accents! It makes sense, considering that it's a medieval/Victorian era game, but I feel that the choice to make the accents English was really for the best (at least for us Yanks.) The grittiness of the Thiefverse was its strength, and British accents are a little too posh sounding for American ears. Plus... what would Karras have sounded like?

this is too my favorite game. more than any present game. i love the story, the characters and all the scenes, specially assasins, down in the bonehoard,horn of quintus, and the cathedral etc. saludos desde México.

The first True stealth game. The Thief series will always be one of my absolute favorite games of all time. To this day no other stealth game has given me the same kind of thrill that sneaking around the shadows in the world of Thief have.
