i just wanna know if Morricone himself likes this. Or if not, if Morricones grand kids like this, and if yes, that they all of a sudden see their grandpa in a new "cool" light .....
@Hilezkor777 brilliant. If you came here because of the Sopranos, you should check out the Wikipedida page of its music. It has a listing of all music used over the end credits of each episode and says what episode its from! wiki/Music_on_The_Sopranos
@timberbeastnz yea but he didnt go "by the book". he got whacked because of personal issues with Tony. if he rly had to go it shouldve been when he killed that girl over the badabing.
@WTFTheater I disagree with saying the people who disliked it are Morricones, Ennio Morricone is a legend lol. More like a god if you're into westerns- which anyone who considers themselves a man should be
I started watching the whole series again, and Whoever Did This just came up... I think that episode has all the elements which made The Sopranos the greatest TV show: rich characterization, subtle & sometimes amusing allusions (the Sympathy for the Devil quotes), really repulsive violence (violence that's not hard to watch is not made right IMO), and questions that are left open for the viewer to answer (did Ralphie really have anything to do with Pie-O-My's death?).
@Probolkoc Yes! Is it really not that obvious? Ralphie burnt down the stables where Pie O My was because a) he resented Tony's involvement with HIS horse (further displaying Tony's sociopathic traits), b) he needed the insurance money. . .
@cl0ve0il But the kid's medical bills were covered by Ralphie's union's insurance, yes? And, since he was the crew's best earner & had started a $20 k-per-year scholarship fund in Jackie Jr.'s name he probably didn't need the money. Although, since Christopher knows about the burning (he offers Tony his condolences when nobody but Tony had been informed about Pie-O-My's death) it way well have been arranged.
the way tony just walks out from the dark bada bing into the blinding white light after a whole evening and night getting rid of ralphs body. my god. so amazing. this episode was a feat.
Finally, found this song! Didn't know the name of the artist or title, but I found it...I remembered hearing this during the ending of The Sopranos. When Tony and Christopher(or Christophaaaa),just killed off Ralphie! There were something spooky about that episode--can't really explain, but it was just eerie along with this song...
@burundi17 i think its brilliant how, after 3/4 years??? after the show ended, we are still debating wether or not tony is dead, no one has a definitive answer, just shows how brilliant chase was in his writing, definetely love if it left it open to a movie, sopranos was just class
@burundi17 I'm working my way through the Sopranos for the first time (only started about a month ago when I saw the first episode on Sky Atlantic), currently on Season 4 Episode 9 (Just finished watching 'Whoever Did This' - fantastic episode, up there with Pine Barrens and Funhouse).
this song is wonderful! It is typical apollo 440 but still i have that feeling being in one of the best western movie ever made... amazing! thank you apollo 440! :-)
@Lossmi4 : gotta disagree with you on that bro, indeed most music today is shite but the same goes for the 60s, it's just the good ones that are played today.
Applies to every field btw, films, music, tv-shows, hell even paintings; 95 percent is shite, 4 percent is ok and maybe 1 percent is good.
This song was also in the CSI: Miami episode "All In" in which Horatio and the team race to find out who kidnapped Calleigh Duquesne and rescue her before she winds up dead. Great music.
best ending to a television show ever!! it does not get any better than this! I could watch this ending of the sopranos all the time and never get tired f it. it's just perfect!
As Oyin pointed out, this was when the Sopranos took a dark turn. Tony displays his true sociopathic side and this tune (as ever for the whole series) is spot on. The calm intro that drops into a calm but menacing middle section, then back to the tranquil end.
Also the harmonica at the beginning is very close to The Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds" - another awesome tune.
its kinda funny that - this score originated in westerns - is used in the ending of the episode of Sopranos where the horse got burned alive. The horse is a cowboys best friend. My O Pie. Well played indeed
@ADAM154 Gaaahhh........ dont be that friendly. I was looking forward to a nice catfight and now I feel like a douche. ....I should have known that THE GOOD ALWAYS WINS, damnit! -_-
@other952 Yeah. Took him long enough to get rid of Ralphie. But to do it over a horse? The family was doomed more or less when Tony took the reigns. Maybe it was the therapy that did for him.
Ah i like this version. Another good version is by Hans Zimmer Its called "Parlay" i Made a ringtone out of this from 32432:54 to 0:01 on M4SIC (.) C0M.............nah im just fuckin with ya i aint a spam bot.
@OJD33 When I saw the episode for the first time, the ending really sent shivers down my spine (and it still does, every time). The series was so layered with details and allusions that every time you watch an episode you can find something that you missed the first time.
The episode was about retribution and redemption, both of which are themes of Once Upon A Time In The West, and the man with the harmonica was the 'moral' counterpart of Frank in the movie, like Tony was for Ralphie (as he was his boss, Ralph had to constrict his behaviour). In the episode ending, Tony was looking for his redemption ("Christopher" & the white light) after killing Ralphie.
I remember this piece of music fondly. It finished up the "Whoever did this" episode perfectly and cemented it as my favourite episode out of all of the seasons. Absolutely brilliant stuff thanks for uploading this!
this song was played at the ending credits of the episode called "whoever did this" directed by tim van patten (my favourite sopranos director). awesome show, awesome episode, awesome directing, awesome music.
Well, the tune was remixed. And, although the beginning is from the original, the following beat (that sounds synthesized and with drums) isn't from the 60's.
?....I know that....and different beats and new synthesized sounds haven't changed the original "composition"
..and yes, Apollo has done a good job on the tune, I like this version a lot ...but go to 3:30, that's the composition I'm talking about....I bet "Ennio M" made a nice buck on this remix....its his tune after all...you get it??
@malismad I think that he was saying that People still like this song and use it 50 years after it was made. Lets see some modern music get replayed in 3 years.
It was in the 6x16 episode "All In" in two parts. both at the beginning when he faced down a Mala Noche posse, and then again near the end when they rescued Calleigh.
This was in a CSI Miami episode too! Thanks for uploading! Any possible chance you can upload a link for it's download? You're the only person I've found who has it.
People say, the CSI Miami episode "All in" was ridiculous on beginning... Well, be sure that every of them saying so, knows a crap about cinema. THis was an obvious tribute to Sergio Leone's spaghetti western style and type of scene and action!

People say, the CSI Miami episode "All in" was ridiculous on beginning... Well, be sure that every of them saying so, knows a crap about cinema. THis was an obvious tribute to Sergio Leone's spaghetti western style and type of scene and action!
