The most perfect technique you will ever hear. As Gigli said, Shipa may not have had the biggest voice but he certainly made up for it with his beautiful art.
I don't sing but I bet it is much more difficult to sing quietly then it is to just blare out a bunch of notes that overwhelm. I would also think that singing quietly requires deep interpretation of the music. Correct?

One of the best Italian lyric tenors of the first half of the 20th century.Although his voice was light and somewhat limited in range,he had wonderful technique and style. Those who heard him in his prime, said his small voice projected extremely well. And in my opinion,no one sang mezza voce and pianissimi as beautifully and exquisitely as he did. A possible exception would be Gigli.

Since I was a child I heard from my father and my uncles that he had this wonderful ear, that he never was out of tune.

Pure BEL CANTO. There is no one on the professional operatic stage today who can match the Chiaroscuro in Tito Schipa's singing, which is SUPERB

Is this from a Vitaphone or Paramount/Astoria
short subject? Or is this from a full length motion picutre. The audio is absolutly beautiful for the 1929 early talking period.

There was no one like Tito Schipa. The great Beniamino Gigli said, "ALL tenors should take their hats of to Schipa."
