  • The most perfect technique you will ever hear. As Gigli said, Shipa may not have had the biggest voice but he certainly made up for it with his beautiful art.

  • I've never heard anything like this. This is more beautiful than bel canto.

  • @LeonardoNasir this is real old italian school belcanto--original.

  • Questa è meraviglia!!! Una lezione di canto!!! Se pensiamo a chi canta in giro oggi!!!!!

  • MERAVIGLIOSO

  • I don't sing but I bet it is much more difficult to sing quietly then it is to just blare out a bunch of notes that overwhelm. I would also think that singing quietly requires deep interpretation of the music. Correct?

  • Since I was a child I heard from my father and my uncles that he had this wonderful ear, that he never was out of tune.

  • Pure BEL CANTO. There is no one on the professional operatic stage today who can match the Chiaroscuro in Tito Schipa's singing, which is SUPERB

  • TITANO,UNA LEGENDA.Grazie.

  • Schipa aways sang directly from the heart, which probably has much to do with the fact he REMAINS a legend. I would never be so presumptuous as to second-guess his interpretation of any aria he

    chose to interpret.

  • He's brilliant, but it's too slow.

  • bravo

  • Bravissimo.

  • This troll is ZUCKER,who regarded himself as one of the greatest tenors of the century.....However,we must be thankful to him for doing the famous interview with Franco Corelli.

  • Thank you

  • Who is this scary troll who INTERRUPTS one of the divine voices of all time?

  • it's Fidel Castro

  • Is this from a Vitaphone or Paramount/Astoria

short subject? Or is this from a full length motion picutre. The audio is absolutly beautiful for the 1929 early talking period.

  • I can't believe they cutted off the aria to show this CREEPY guy talking bullshit.

  • Cutted?

  • ops, *cut

  • a voice that undresses you slowly

  • In this aria he is the best of them all. By t

he way: I don.t like Zucker!!

    Hans NL

  • Beautiful! He sang with such feeling and never 'oversang'

  • Wow, first time I saw him on film. This is the stile I love the most for una furtiva lagrima, romanza. Grazie, è un emozione

  • GRANDE eh|Un saluto ad Attilio (Tito jr.)Schipa del quale ho uno splendido ricordo

  • I concur with all of the comments from the rest of you-- but my god, Stefan Zucker, che mostro vero- ufff!

  • cut off??? fantastic anyway

  • could've done without that grotesque creature (Zucker).. Every aspiring singer (not only tenors) should study Schipa's artistry..he was a true master

  • I'm amazed at the size of his and Gigli's necks!Caruso, as well, had a big neck...

  • grazie per avere postato Calaf 2006

  • Corrie121.

    Just Beautiful.

  • There was no one like Tito Schipa. The great Beniamino Gigli said, "ALL tenors should take their hats of to Schipa."

  • Right composer.... wrong opera.... Una furtiva lagrima is from the opera.L'elisir d'amore

  • One of the best Italian lyric tenors of the first half of the 20th century.Although his voice was light and somewhat limited in range,he had wonderful technique and style. Those who heard him in his prime, said his small voice projected extremely well. And in my opinion,no one sang mezza voce and pianissimi as beautifully and exquisitely as he did. A possible exception would be Gigli.

  • How about Di Stefano?

  • This definitive Nemorino, thank you for posting this video Calaf!
