How loud is it because I used to have the old xbox (white pro version) and I had an intercooler temp smart I think it was called and it was loud as hell. I now have the new xbox like you and we both know that it's really quiet so does this intercooler make it loud like the old xbox when it's on or is it just slightly louder?

@AznXmodder You must not have clipped it into the vent correctly. Detach it and try again. Push it into the vent but don't force it, you should hear a click sound and it should be fine.

So my intercooler started making a really loud annoying noise. Seems the fan is dying already. It's been about six months. I did order another one, since they are only $18, but if this second one breaks again that would really suck...
i wouldn't recommend this. the console will stay as cool as it needs by just giving it some breathing room. this covers the vent and yes it does turn on and then pull air out, it shouldn't have to do that. i'm not saying that it may not work, but an exhaust fan covering and exhaust fan just seems like much. the 360 s fan speeds up when it needs to (when it heats up too much) and can do what the intercooler does (minus routing the hot air forward).
@OriginalZero It seems to help those who have 4gb Slims more than those who have 250 GB slims. Why? Because 4gb Xbox users are most likely not installing games onto their hard drive. The drive is probably too small for most Xbox games and even if it could fit a game, you'd continually need to delete it to play the next. From personal experience I've noticed that the system runs substantially hotter when the DVD Rom is continually spinning. IMHO, extra protection is never a bad thing.
@4hgames well that's true that maybe the spinning of the drive creates heat, the fact of the matter is that the 360's fans are running on the lowest possible settings and they do speed up when needed. if you feel heat coming out of the system, thats means that the combination of thermal compound/heatsink is transferring air properly. if you only felt cold air when gaming, then your system has something wrong with it because the air coming out is supposed to be hot.
@OriginalZero As far as I know, a cool system runs better than a hot system. Ideally you don't want your console to get hot because the fans will run faster to try to cool down the system. If they can't, the system just shuts itself down, much like a computer cooling system does. With this pulling the hot air out of the console, the console never gets a chance to get hot. So all the chips are continually running cool. As I've said before, my console is always cool to the touch with this on.
So im pretty sure im gettting the new xbox 360 slim for christmas my last one burned out beacause it basically barely got any cool down time from my family using it night and day to watch movies on my external hard drive. theyre probably gonna do the same thing again when i get my new one so would this be something that i should get to prevent future overheating
@TYfariguy I would recommend it. My xbox is as cold as it is when it's off with this thing on it. I know I didn't do a temperature test, i still don't know how I'd even be able to test that, but from my experience it works great.
@walawley1500 Supposedly that small vent has a small fan it as well. As far as I know, that vent does nothing cause I never feel air going in or out of it. I'm sure it does something, but i feel like the main fan is what does the bulk of the work and is what really matters. Maybe that vent how the Intercooler knows when to turn on?
Nyko knows that slims are very efficient and does not require extra cooling like the older xbox 360's. But they make money off people's fear of the RROD even though it most likely never happen on a Slim.
@TruFilmProductions I actually know of two people who have gotten the "red dot of death" from their consoles overheating. It's mostly caused by playing games when they aren't installed to the hard drive.
I have to agree that this product is great. I picked one up for $20 at my local walmart back in August, which was the hottest month of the summer here in Oregon. I bought it because my room doesn't have air conditioning, and it was extremely hot. So I was afraid to even turn on my 360, knowing full well that it would probably strain the system more. After getting the Intercooler though, I haven't had to worry too much. My console actually runs cooler now. So I'm happy.

When I turn my 360 on I can feel I very little breeze of air from the console before it turns on and then it kicks on and pushes alot of air out. I noticed that it keeps the disc and the bottom of the xbox cool

@KFCstevie dude the new intercooler doesnt hook up to the back or even void your warranty like the last one. this new slim cooler was built to run off of usb so your warranty would not be lost. plus it uses just as much energy maybe even less energy then when you plug your controllers into the usb ports on the console to charge the battery. this thing takes breaks and doesnt try to spin really fast thus overworking the 360 like the last one. anyways im going to get a cooling stand plus this :)

@retard338 thats 4 the old 1. the new 1 does not void the warrantee. theres really no way it can. the warrantee sticker is behind the faceplate on the slim and will not void ur warrantee if a side external fan is used. theres a difference between external and internal. external hooks up on the outside of the console and does not require u 2 remove ur warrantee sticker. internal u would have 2 open the system thus removing the warrantee sticker.

@lifeasshawn I showed how to install the intercooler in this video at around 1:05. Just make sure you line it up around the edge of the console, and get the hooks into the vent and gently push the intercooler down into the vent. Just don't force it into the vent.

With the Intercooler running for over three hours, it's really cool. So cool, it feels as if the system isn't even running. I've had my system running for nearly twenty-four hours and the system stays cool.

Before the intercooler comes on it has a vent on the top of the intercooler to let the air come out.
