@Xzibillionaire We can make flying cars already. The question is, how pragmatic and save would that be? If you think of the logistics of it; the only way we could make it save/legal, is through the conduction of thousands of tests, while having to create a bulletproof network-infrastructure. Lots of money, and definitively not a priority right now.
@Ilikepiemonkeys97 False, if we can somehow capture and harvest the power of a Quant and re-arrange it, we will have a unit that is smaller than an atom arranged to make matter.
Getting to that step however is a different story.
How can you manipulate matter so easily.. Hes Basicly saying anyone can move a mountain with one finger oh wait only one person can and thats chuck norris....
@fuck1929 Not if you set a limit, say you can only go back 3 days, you can't mess up history if it's only 3 days. And nobody knows the nature of time travel, maybe it's impossible to truly change the past.
@anticorncob6 So I can go back in time and do whatever the fuck i want :D I could take the world and it wouldn't effect our future instead an alternate timeline would be created where I'm a shape shifting cyborg that takes the form of Princess Celestia from My Little Pony.Right?
@dunnono00 I actually agree with fuck1929 even tho i take his comment as failed sarcasm. I believe going to the past would be possible, but it would not be our past, but instead, an alternate past that is identical to our own, that branches from our own the instant you arrive. This is the only logical scenario that does not create paradoxical issues, since we all know time travel is theoretically not an impossibility. This Means visiting the past is possible, but it is a 1 way ticket.
Imagine the labor market when this sort of nanotechnology is real.
there will be no employment.
Hell, it'll be a utopia...
Except that tincy wincy little thing called Patent Laws.
Whoever invents the first fully functional nano-assembly system will rule the world, because they will immediately put all competitors out of business.
Additionally, at some point, they will have no need for anyone else's contribution to infrastructure.
@Wade23581 Mark my words: by the time advanced nanotech is commonplace, intellectual property, patents, and perhaps even ownership will have disappeared as concepts.
@Andreas0424 Of course that's not to say some other hierarchy won't be in control of the means of production. Ideally it will be democratic and altruistic, a la Star Trek.
They have made technology to make things become invisible but to have a cloak well...that will take about 5 more years to make because they have only been able to make only something a bit more bigger than a paper clip become invisible.
@y512516 haha that would be funny. it would be nice, but to do that you would need to go down to the atomic level. you would need to make the "clay" around turn magnetic. Not an easy job
Exactly: Electromagnetism and Biology will inevitably merge with eachother. More precisely: We will eventually develope a way to control biology by way of controlling all matter at a molecular level. That is if Judeo-Christian-Islam does not totally destroy the Human Race B4 it can happen.
Have they even began to think of the negative effects of all this? People could create products to sell which would greatly stimulate economy but then again, every other person in the world could do the exact same thing. Making every product with a sentimental value completely useless, economy would crash, the world would be in ruins. The world wouldn't be able to "be" if that product "became".
Thirty or so years ago, Carl Sagan said "The human mind represents one way in which matter has become conscious and aware. We are a way for the universe to know itself."
@Oirad16 you can, and yes masteranimation said, its called nuclear fusion. all elements on the periodic table from hydrogen to iron will be created in our sun, everything above iron, such as gold, is only created when a sun dies, in a supernova. but we dont have the power of a dying red giant, instead people have claimed that they turned lead into gold, ie alchemy, which is fission, and is possible but maybe not with our technology, or it could be done to prove a point, but isnt worthit
@Oirad16 all it is, is an element made of certain protons nuetrons and electrons + certain mass and size. It happens naturally through decomposition/radioactive decay; why not manually?
I guess this new technology only effects solid/gas/liquid/plasma properties. Still... this is amazing!
I wonder how much Michio knows about electric engineering (probably an insane amount) but I feel like aligning all those particles would be more difficult than he theorizes in this video. Either you would have to perfect the electrical patterns in order to get them to move into the correct position, or each particle would have to be programmed with the individual correct coordinate in their part of the whole. Otherwise, those particles would have to be energized separately and then assembled
The question is how long would it take to transform from states, and what would be the longevity or amount of use such a material could see before fresh material was needed.
Just a thought : If the power elite {Globalist} have control of such technology, and it can do what you say ,would that eliminate tons of jobs ? The Globalist would see no need for much of the population .Hence the onslaught of eugenics getting rid of the unwanted? Its scary to think that alot of these projects are privatized for corporations. I can only hope that this is not the case.
Sounds like something already completed that we haven't known...China has had continuous reports and incidents of seeing entire cities and then vanish instantly....WTF?

They were immortal and could themselves change shape into anything. Their society resembled a isolationist pacafistic technocracy. If we can mass produce nanomachines in the near future...then the trend splits again....the Borg or the Celiar
@Nikotiini69 If it was not for the military, where would physics be in this country. In the beginning this was only about weapons. No matter how old a child become the parent is always watching.
I don't like scientists of his kind, making big predictions based on some small scale experiment that works, and then extrapolating on the future.
How many experts estimated that there would be a cure for aids within the first 5 years? How many people in the 60s estimated that by the time we reach 1990, we would have achieved strong AI. Guess what? We are in 2012, AI is still shit and millions of people still die from AIDS every year.
And we are still not driving anti-grav cars either.
@StormWolf01 I don't know about other things, but, I am glad that we don't have flying cars. Do you really want the DMV to give out flying-car licenses to teenagers. And, just imagine what happens when they run out of gas? I dont want cars falling out of the sky.
I would imagine the "flying car" to be more like a mag-lev technology; basically having the vehicle hover just a few inches off the ground. I guess something along the lines of F-Zero, if you've ever played that. The only way I see flying cars like the Jetsons or something, is if the vehicle is largely automated and the driver is limited to inputting a destination, for which the computer calculates all factors and auto-pilots appropriately.
My thoughts exactly! We have GPS, we have vehicles that can take off and land vertically. There's no reason we can't get moving on the Skyway.... Well, aside from cost, anyway. Last I checked a VTOL car cost over $100,000 USD. But there's got to be a way to get that technology into an affordable unit....
