  • sounds like you have mice for plates

  • Where did you purchase the USB2.0 to IDE/SATA ?

I need to order couple of these with LEDs on it too

hope I'll get to salvage some trapped files in old HDD :)

    Thanks for your usfull vids!

  • Wrong. the sound you get from your HDD is becouse you have no torch controll. you need the r ight pressureand it should work fine!

  • how many hard drives do you need

  • the reason why the HHD is rattling like that is because the screws arnt set to the right torque

  • There is a lot of talk about torque. Let me explain the principal of torqued screws: Torqued screws don't change, that is exactly why they are torqued. These screws were never messed with. The sound from the hard drive is the head struggling to read the data, in this case from and electronic failure. For example, a shorted winding or a loose winding from a loss of lamination will cause the same symptom, which can be caused by overheating due to a circuit failure.

  • the reason why it is making that squeeking noice is because when you have screwed the drive back together the screwed are not tight enough or lose enough

they have to be at the right toque :~)

  • @bagheadbaby Incorrect assumption. You know what "assume" does. See the reply in the post above for a more likely technical probability.

  • common problem on some of the Maxtor and Seagate PCBs. Easy fix. But this drive sounds like the read heads are coming too close to the platter surface making those chipping noise. Or the bearing may be an issue where the platter spindle may have popped out already.

  • you don't have the screws torqued properly you tird...

  • @IamFalah doesn't matter when only changing the board

  • @linuxaddict11111 you can make the old one run new... but you didn't torque the screws properly.. you're gonna fry the one you just fixed also

  • @IamFalah Torquing is not necessary for the screws holding the PC board in place. Precision is only essential for the screws securing the hard drives enclosure. In this case, only the PCB was changed. The torque on the hard drive itself is factory set and unchanged. I learned a long time ago in Engineering, an observed symptom does not always mean there can only be one cause. :) .

  • @greatestunknown derp derp derp derp.. la herp derp?

  • tird ?

  • Samsung is decent too, but with the floods in Thailand all the prices are stupidly high.

  • @paparoach351 Seagate actually is the bes HDD maker, It is Seagate that invented the HDD for the original IBM pc, Maxtor, Scribe, Wester Digital, Fujitsu, etc were born after Seagate, Seagate bought wester digital not long ago...

  • @HelmetVanga western digital did not get bought out. and the hard drive was invented my IBM in the 50's

  • @the731272 Seagate was the first company to come up with a HDD for the first IBM PC. IBM never manufactured HDD for PCs.

Seagate acquared the following Companies but Western Digital not being one of them

Maxtor (May 2006) MiniScribe acquired by Maxtor in 1990 Quantum Corp's hard disk drive division acquired by Maxtor in 2000 Digital Equipment Corporation's storage division acquired by Quantum in 1994

    Conner Peripherals (1996)

  • @HelmetVanga what seagate did was introduce the first hard drive in the 5.25 inch form factor. they in no way invented the hard drive but i will give you the form factor invention. and i can tell you copied that right off the wiki... good source of knowledge. (not gunna bash you for that :P)

  • @HelmetVanga I assume you mean they never made hard drives for the IBM PC, because IBM most certainly did make hard drives.

  • You all can talk all the shit you want about Seagate, but I've heard of very few, WESTERN DIGITALS that transfer all your data find with just a PCB change. I hope your Western Digital grinds YOUR data away useless with a catastrophic HEAD CRASH so a NEW HEAD that requires a send in to a data recovery center and a bill doesn't get half the data.

  • it ran like that becuz the hard drives original board has the calibration for the disk so the new board isnt factory set

  • Hello, hi. I dropped my external hard drive by knocking the wire and now my computer still see it as a G drive, but then when I click on it doesnt load, den when I unplug it it says I need to format the drive before using, and dont wanna do dat coz i have tons of very important file on it. So hum what do advise me to do? thanx.

  • @Shyranayo hey i also have the same problem i plugged in it sometimes shows hard icon or sometimes not but when i clicked over it it stucked and when remove the drive it says format it before use ... :O

  • Your problem is, Seagate makes shit drives. I had bad luck with Seagate and Maxtor. I have my old 80GB WD HDD going since 03, still kicks like a bronco

  • @djtheextremegamerpro wow you are very uninformed, the problem is that you cannot switch control boards in hdds now days w/o dmg to the disk. they store special control data for the heads inside and now this guys hdd is not calibrated correctly thus all that noise. and seagate makes shit drives lol there the only company with a 5 yr warranty and leading edge in hdd technology haha

  • @djtheextremegamerpro Good blabbermouth, hope you your old 80GB IDE drive suits you well, I'd be very surprised if that's SATA, LOL! The rest of us like somewhat recent SATA drives with double to triple your capacity at least. And if you bought a recent Western Digital, I'd think you'd be very embarrassed to be a proud Western Digital shrill, or just take a look at the ratings on Newegg. WDC is going DOWN. Talking about Seagate, if Seagate polishes the 7200.12's off next series, WDC will HURT !

  • @djtheextremegamerpro Oh yeah, and if you think I'm a Seagate shill or I buy or praise only one brand, you also have another thing coming at you.

  • @KingMacintosh I have a Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB Sata II Hard drive. It works for my needs

  • Wanna know my backup method. Cut and Paste using My Computer and a pen drive or external HDD with USB 3.0. I'm old school ain't I...

  • @projectlevydelta Yes. I kno just too expensive. I could have gotten a big ssd. but I decided to do dual gpu's :D might buy like a 120 in the future. but for what I do when I save over 1 gig files alot. and about 10 in a set its going be full very quick. I like my 7200rpm caviar black :D

  • @projectlevydelta for a whole system...

  • seagate > maxtor = more trouble. BUY A WESTERN DIGITAL

  • hi ,i would appreciate if you can let me know how to contact this guy in the youtube.i need his advice on my hard disk problem .thank you so much .

  • I did this also with a samsung spinpoint F3 1TB

I had all my important data on it, was only 4 months old.

I bought a 2nd F3 and swapped the boards over, got all my data back and then switched the boards back, then RMAd the old drive.

Btw, maxtors are never a good drive, I worked as a computer decomissioner and 90% of the bad drives we had were maxtors.

I highly recommend western digital and would only use their drives, personally.

  • ebay is bad

  • a good drive? looks like your transferring data to a maxtor. if that's is a maxtor ull be backing up again pretty soon. use western digital or seagate there reliable hard drives

  • is that easy to install.

  • I thought it was a pinball machine in the background in the begining, LOL
