  • the d16a6 is a great stock motor, it gets great gas mileage while still delivering performance, what more can you ask for?

  • wow 2nd gear ends around 50mph I never knew that...I have a DX so it probably ends around 50...it always sounds like my 3rd gear ends around like 50.

  • I own a stock CRX Si and it's surprisingly fast - mostly due to 4.2:1 final drive. If the mustang was a slushbox 5.0 GT Fox with stock gears, well, it's not all that fast frankly - my cousin is a Mustang guy and I've driven one of his supercharged 5.0 Foxes. That car was fast. A 5.0/AOD/dog geared car isn't just going to walk all over one of these.

    There are lists out on the web with the CRX Si's 1/4 and 0-60 times, and it's comparably fast to a lot of 'real' iron out there, stock.

  • I have a 91 crx with the the d16a6 too, their reliable, good on gas, but the wierdest thing is they almost sound like vtec's but i do have to admit they are slow, mine has 78,000 miles original

  • Its because his brake rotors are warped like hell. He is hitting the brakes at the end of the video and thats where the shaking is comming from. It gets worse when you hit the brakes at higher speeds too.

  • if their braking, it could be that the front discs are warped

  • my jeep cherokee beat mustangs on a regular basis. they are pretty slow.. but a civic is the slowest cars ever and i dont think they will beat a 5.0.. and i even have a honda now haha..

  • well the stock base models are slow but the plus models arent too shabby for a 4 banger especially the 2000 Civic SI. with a bit of cash and a little know how you can make a civic smoke mustangs,corvettes,camaros, and anything else that gets in the way.

  • Probably ragged out 5.0s, or ill-driven. I'd put my Mustang up against this POS any day of the week, or any other stock Civic made to date. I've raced them all, including the new Si Civic thats supposed to be quick- it was a slaughter. And anything can be made fast when you throw money at it or strip it out into a tin can.

  • haha ok so i drive a 92 crx si with a b18a1 swap with the normal I/E/H (intake /exhaust /headers) and seriously i can now JUST keep up with a 95 mustang 5.0 and thats if they cant drive well and trust me with the stock motor with 485 000 km witch mine had i could not stand any kind of chance against a stock 5.0 haha so maybe go run the 1/4 mile with a stock 5.0 before you start repping the crx nation with a stock si!!!

    and i have nothing against a stock SI cuz i sure thought mine was fast!

  • @mopar43v3r it could happen, depends on soo many things. if you got a good running single cam 1.5 ltre with basic bolt ons, it'll take a 5.0/4.6. ive seen it happen. ive seen it on the internet. its all about power to weight ratio. you should know this man.

  • @fastlife1688 With bolts on. its a completely different story. Ive seen plenty of lightly modified single cams take down cars they shouldnt be able to beat. But i was talking about stock single cams. which cant really do anything.

    yeah dude these cars weigh less than 2000 lbs. and i am sure much less when stripped out. if your making 130 horse on this motor, definitely can get a sloppy mustang run, granny shifting, and spinning off the line of course, it would need to be a sloppy run, but you bet your ass it could happen.

    now they are making whole setups for the d16. worked factory head, aggressive cam. full exhaust w/ headers. upgraded ECU, ported intake manifold, big TB. upgraded valve springs, retainers
