Hey, My unit has the three periods flashing . i cannot play my samples on my CF card .And some of the internal samples are not playing completely . The display sometimes vanishes and return in a second or so after making a distorted sound.Any advise?. Thanks.
you have to use a blue san disk 1gb old school card, like the first phase of CF cards. I bought up about 10 different memory cards when i first got my sp404 to find that out
This happens with my MC-505. Its like the clock goes nuts. I just turn off turn on again and its ok. My 505 is like 10 years old though. I've heard that reformating/reinstalling the software of the box can fix it. Look in the 404 manual to see how to do that. You'll need a computer and a midi interface probably.
Why does the 404 have to be so ugly

BAd Memory card
Sp404/555 work best with fast speed CF Cards
(at least 80x speed) 133x is the best for em'

nice drum solo at the end! can you sample with one of those like you would with an mpc, how does it work actually?

yeah, you can sample like on the mpc, but no waveform edit. But it's a nice intuitive piece of equipment.

I would recommend trying out another CF card.
I switched to a SanDisk card and that fixed the problem.

I fixed it by getting another CF card... that allowed me to update the OS, and since I haven't run into any problems...
