  • Where did you get that tape from?

  • Some clarifications are needed here. Do NOT use lighter fluid or gasoline; you're just asking for trouble.

Use a solvent that you can buy at Golf Galaxy, or Golf Smith ( it is safer ). You can reuse the solvent many times, so use something like a plastic pan. Spray the tape as-well-as pouring the excess solvent on the grip; pour it from the open mouth, on butt of the grip. Place the club grip down NOT grip up. It only takes 30 min. not over night to use the clubs.

  • What's the easiest way to remove the tape? I hate that part, takes forever. I hate scraping or using my fingers. There must be a faster way!

  • @shawnspeed3 The best way is to use a heat gun.

You can place the heat gun directly on the tape, moving it up and down the tape as you rotate the shaft a few times; you want to do this is a relatively quick motion so you don't damage the shaft ( if graphite ).

Then just peel off the tape.

  • Very helpful video

  • Anyone else get that "special" feeling after watching this?

  • i like to use urine as solvent !

  • i just got a kit frm ebay, 13 or 14 srips of tape, bottle of solvent, and shaft protector for round $10!!!

  • what kind of solvient can u use can u get it at like home depo

  • you can you white spirits, light fuel

  • white spirits, lighter fluid, gasoline, etc

  • can u use wd40 or 3 in 1

  • i took my old grips off and found it practically impossible to get the old tape off and when i finally did there was a gooey residue that is impossible to get off ive tried everything anyone have any ideas?

  • You need a power tool. Either a bench grinder (use the wire wheel side with a soft wire wheel attached). Or a hand grinder again with a soft wire wheel attached. This will also "rough up" the metal a bit allowing for better adhesion for the tape.

  • bit late of a reply, but not sure how it will work on the clubs, should be fine, but use acetone to get rid of that gooey stuff, will take it off easy,

  • Very helpful!

  • that grip is A FULL CORD

  • what type of grip is that in the video

  • what is solvent damnit. whats it made of?

  • gasoline, im not even kidding it makes a really good solvent for re gripping

  • paint thinner works

  • yeah

  • yeh i use petrol and double sided tape, much better than straight glue

  • make sure if you do this on your own, you put the grip tape on correctly. i tried three times before i watched this and then i realized i was putting the wrong side of the tape on the shaft.

  • its very easy as shown turpentine is a good solvent to use.

  • Will it work with cheap Dunlop clubs? they are my beginner set but it would be nice to have some better grips on them

    They are MXII

  • windex is a good solvent

  • Do not try this at home. It is no where near as easy as this highly edited video demonstration. I did my entire set and it took 4+ hours, and I donated nearly $10 to the swear jar. Removing the old tape is very difficult, time consuming and hard on the hands. I did this in a well ventilated area and my nose, throat and lungs are burned from the chemical exposure. Opportunity cost, opportunity cost! Think about it, 4+ hours.

  • Water-soluble regripping tape is available that allows using a water/dishsoap solution instead of solvent chemicals. The downside of this method is that the adhesive dries into a hard gummy bond that is very hard to remove if the club ever needs future regripping.

  • what kind of solvent do you use?

  • Mineral spirits will work.

  • I use Coleman Camp Fuel. Lighter than mineral spirits and evaporates reasonably quickly.

  • what kind of solvent do you use?

  • nice. That's looks easier than I thought.
