for those who don't know about the Red Wedding, it is basically the most depressing and evil event in the whole ASOIF series and Tywin basically co-planned the whole thing. it involved breaking a law that has been there for 13 thousand years and no-1 has ever known to break, and is looked upon as just as, if not more vile then Kinslaying. even Jaime is sickened by it. i guarantee once you get to this part you will think of the people involved as the most despicable people in the whole series.
i'd like to point out that barristan selmy has probably smashed every girl in westeros, except the busted ones because obviously he is too gangster to do ugly chicks
@friendlycakeasaurus Actually, members of the kingsguard take a vow of celibacy. Seeing as Selmy has been in the Kingsguard since about 20, and keeps every word of his vows, he has not gotten pussy in a VERY long time.
@alexpascu2785 Yup, that was Arys Oakheart... and he was a little less strict with his vows than other kingsguard. But I guess if you are in the desert so far from your home, and a hot dornish princess wants to mess with you it would be pretty hard to resist. His love for her does get him killed by Areo Hotah though.
@reticulator I remember him being evolved in a plot regarding princess Mircela probebly thats when he was killed and i olso remeber a knight colled Dark Star?
yo dude. thanks for putting this clip up. makes me lol. was wondering if you can put the clip of barathion and Stark in the tent before the joust, where he was saying things like "Bow to your king you shits!"
I hated how Renly's homosexuality was made so obvious in the show. I don't particularly care for his actor either. In fact Renly is imo one of the worst things about the show.
I always find it fitting how Robert was oblivious to Renly's homosexuality, wheras Stannis knew and it didn't change his opinion of Renly in the slightest. Stannis /does/ make one of the only direct quips he ever makes about it though, when Renly said his wife came to him a maiden Stannis says "In your bed she's like to stay that way."
@SuperBundi123 Except Renly, to me, never seemed to know what was at stake. While the players were moving their pieces into position, Renly was having his knights fight at tourneys. He had a lot of men who loved him, but he could never have taken and held the Iron Throne. Not in this verse.
@Bek359 It does seem wasteful he'd do that, but Tyrion pointed out that politically it was a good move because it gave off an aura of "I'm invincible and sure I'll win!" and all the tournaments/gifts to the people made them love him more which would make it easier when he got the Throne.
Of course, no one knew he was gay and just a puppet of the Tyrells.
@Bek359 Renly waited ,because he wanted to exhhaust the Lannisters ,and his brother. And actually he had to wait anyway. I love Renly because he is gentle ,a really knight-like person. He protects the weaks ,the women ,etc... A real king. But I love Stannis ,too. He is rightfull in judging. Joffree and Cersei are sons of bitches ,but I love Tywin. And he is the real boss in the empire. And Robb is a nice guy.
@SuperBundi123 Tywin's a fucker. Remember that he's the one who calculates exactly how much of Gregor Clegane's brutality he needs, and send him out to rape and murder as need be. Yeah, Renly waited in order to exhaust the other two sides. And that worked out SO WELL for him in the end. Have you actually read the books? You might not have such a high opinion of Stannis once you get the full story behind, say, Melisandre.
Renly died because he got killed by a shadow assasin-like magic ,or what. We don't know ,Renly would win the the fight between Stannis and him. But the Stannis army was weak. I haven't red the fifth book so please do not spoil anything. Whats your problem with Stannis? I hate Melisandre ,but they are not the same. Of course ,Stannis wanted to sacrefice an innocent life ,but (if melisandre where right) he would win the war!
@Bek359 The Mountan is a bad motherfucker. And Tywin used him. But the North army killed many civillians. And Gregor is just one man. Roose Bolton used Vargo Hoat and his team. And they are much worse than the older Clegane.(SPOILER:I know ,Bolton is a traitor ,but still he was in the North Army ,when the Comedians killed hundreds of innocents) Tywin wants the best for the empire and his family.
@SuperBundi123 Also, the thing with this series is that being honorable tends to set you back more than anything. A VERY LARGE NUMBER of honorable characters get killed off because they didn't quite grasp the amount of political maneuvering and backstabbery that is prevalent in Westeros, so having someone like that on the throne isn't a good long-term solution in this verse, because they either get manipulated, or their guards get paid to ignore certain orders, or they get assassinated.
I don't know. He seems like a decent king, but he would still go after the North when he was done with the Lannisters, or so he said. And if you fight the Starks, you're still the bad guys in my book.
he says when millions died i dont think theres a million people in the whole of westeros, so its like someone saying "in ww2 billions died" which is a bit ret@rded

But he is an exception to the manly warrior thing that creates conflict in this series. The Stark solution is fight with honour, and Renly might have had trouble with the Others if he ever got that far, but he has a good thought: why FIGHT at all.
@ravenouscolonelhart I never really thought of Renly as bisexual myself, I always saw him as gay. Mainly because no one seemed to question whether he had slept with Margaery or not. While if it was someone like the the Red Viper, who was definitely bisexual, had married her. It would be a foregone conclusion that they would have slept together.
@Litewraith I guess. Fine. lol. But that's an unfair comparison. The Red Viper slept with anything sexy before he was born and after he was dead too. Probably with Danerys when she wasn't watching. And Robert back when he was cool. Lol. Maybe I was too convinced by Cersei's POV, regarding Margaery's past, but AS IF Renly didn't ravage her. There isn't some conspiracy of Renliness later on, afaik - heh.
@ravenouscolonelhart LOL it all makes sense now. Ned's promise to Lyanna isn't about the R+L = J. He was trying to get him to promise that he'd have a roll in the hay with the Red Viper for the best night of sex in his entire life. Now that's a truly devoted sister. :-P
Considering Renly is gay I doubt hes had a riverland girl, I wonder how Robert would react to Renly coming out, Stannis knows but apparently Robert doesnt

Lancel is giving a more potent wine that will make Robert disoriented. That is the reason why he was not able to defend himself against the boar. This was all planned by Cersei, and to recruit Lancel her kin, she had sex with him. Truly despicable family, these Lannisters.
@HumanMonolith Joffrey without a doubt, but Cersei can have some intresting moments. don't get me wrong, she is my least favorite Lannister (after Joffrey ofc), but she is not truly despicable imo.
@88rixadzin88 I agree. In the Book she is not a POV character but she has a great deal of dialouge and in much of it she is honest and reveals that she is truly motivated by her intense love for her children.
She is a mother and practitioner of real politik and she never tortured or murdered anyone for any sort of sadistic pleasure, unlike the mad king or Joffery, every kill of her's was an attmpt to she her son on the throne and safe and secure on the throne.
@Rexanglorum She doesn't really care about her kids. She heard a prophecy when she was a little girl that she would marry a King who had 16 kids, and that she would die and be replaced by a younger prettier Queen when all her kids were dead (and she'd also die). Her "love" for her children is just that as long as they're alive she stays the Queen and alive.
@ShadowSonic2 No, Cersei's obsessively maternal. The prophecy was that she would outlive her children and be supplanted by someone younger, not that one would happen after the other. Both of these predictions drive her close to madness because they're so terrible to her.
Tywin does do some rather... nasty things, but he's always got a good reason for why he did them, rightly or wrongly. Cersei meanwhile is utterly paranoid, arrogant and needlessly cruel. Joffrey is much the same, minus the paranoia and with added sociopathy.
@HumanMonolith Have you read the 3rd book? I don't want to spit spoilers, but he appeared to very corrupt near the end. What he did with you know who?
@JBCanimation Yeah, Tywin's a fucker. Ends up treating his whole immediate family (possible exceptions of Cersei and Joffrey, two of the most despicable people in the entire series) like fucking shit. Well, he ALWAYS treated Tyrion like shit, despite their similarities. But what he said to Jaime? Man...
Yeah, hence why what I said only made sense to people who've read the books. He's an unrepentant cockend in the first book/series, yes. But needless to say, he redeems himself and actually becomes quite an honourable man (some people may dispute that, feel free to do so).
@HumanMonolith you obviously haven't read A storm of swords then, either that or you forgot about Tywin's part in the Red Wedding. I hope saying Red Wedding doesn't count as a spoiler since if you havn't heard about it you will have no idea what it is, besides the wedding part ofcourse id hope you all knew what weddings are. but yeah basically after playing a part in the Red Wedding Tywin has basically schemed to commit the most vile unlawful act committed throughout the whole series.
@HumanMonolith you obviously haven't read A storm of swords then, either that or you forgot about Tywin's part in the Red Wedding. @Heneghan2k9 Disagree. Stannis and Robb both don't understand the art of ruling. Look at all the great leaders in history, love, generosity and popularity is more important than honour, justice and virtue.
For example, when Gregor pillaged the riverlands, Ned passed on the King's justice by trying to kill Gregor. Meanwhile when Kings Landing was starving the Tyrells gave everybody food and gifts. (And Renly and the Tyrells acted alike)
@Heneghan2k9 Basically, people like Robb, Ned and Stannis etc. believe that there's this absolute notion of right and wrong and that's good and bad. Renly is more utilitarian, which from the POV of a follower, lord or smallfolk is better.
Remember that Robb's army were responsible for lots of looting and pillaging and were quite destructive in the later stages of the war. Meanwhile all you ever see the Renly/Tyrell army is feasting and distributing food to the smallfolk.
@crazedmongoose03 Thing is, Renly may be more charismatic but he's also easily malleable. Outer strength, inner weakness that wouldn't make him a good King. It's all good that he gives the people food and gifts, and charms them with words, but if he's someone who is easily controlled by others then he's no good in a position of real power.
@ShadowSonic2 Right, but I don't even believe people like Ned, Robb, Stannis' etc. start off in the right place (maybe Stannis is okay). Renly only needs to wait to be corrupted. Stannis is incorruptible but where you're starting ain't that good either. He's a fanatic who burns people for religion....
Renly is definitely malleable (Remember the comment made that Robert is true steel, Stannis is brittle iron whilst Renly is pretty copper.). I just think on balance he's the best choice to lead.
@crazedmongoose03 The Renly/Tyrell army moved across their own territories with ample supplies, Robb's army needed supplies so they had to forage and needed to hurt the Lannister holdings.
Boy, this scene adds more evidence that Renly is the one most suited for the throne. The guy actually cares about his people and doesn't just see them as cannon fodder or servants. A big difference from Robert, who only seems truly alive when he's bashing somebody's skull in.
@niall142 There were supposed to be horseman and lot's of men but they didn't have the budget to include them in this particular scene. That's what George R R Martin said at his Google talk.
@niall142 Neither did Martin. One of his few qualms with the tv adapation was this scene as it is. He said when the king goes hunting, he takes half the court with him. Alas, even GRRM didn't have pull when it came to the budget.
@niall142 The makers of the show said that they had nearly run down their budget when they, made that scene and just did not have the money for horses, let alone the dozens of men and horses that would have been part of a typical Medieval, Royal hunt.
@niall142 It wasn't. There were supposed to be hundreds of guys with him but they run out of money and time so they couldn't shoot this scene with all the dozens of extras and horses that would've been needed.

It's implied numerous times (from other characters POVs of course, since everything in GOT is appropriately limited to a given POV) that he had no problem tackling Margaery in bed. @crazedmongoose03 Who is DW? It's not Daenarys. Stannis, no. Uh... Robb, nope.
WHO!

@Heneghan2k9 DW is short for "don't worry"
crazedmongoose03 4 months ago
@crazedmongoose03 Stannis and Robb > Renly, even without shadow babies.
Heneghan2k9 4 months ago
@Heneghan2k9 Disagree. Stannis and Robb both don't understand the art of ruling. Look at all the great leaders in history, love, generosity and popularity is more important than honour, justice and virtue.
For example, when Gregor pillaged the riverlands, Ned passed on the King's justice by trying to kill Gregor. Meanwhile when Kings Landing was starving the Tyrells gave everybody food and gifts. (And Renly and the Tyrells acted alike)
crazedmongoose03 4 months ago
@Heneghan2k9 Basically, people like Robb, Ned and Stannis etc. believe that there's this absolute notion of right and wrong and that's good and bad. Renly is more utilitarian, which from the POV of a follower, lord or smallfolk is better.
Remember that Robb's army were responsible for lots of looting and pillaging and were quite destructive in the later stages of the war. Meanwhile all you ever see the Renly/Tyrell army is feasting and distributing food to the smallfolk.
crazedmongoose03 4 months ago
@crazedmongoose03 Thing is, Renly may be more charismatic but he's also easily malleable. Outer strength, inner weakness that wouldn't make him a good King. It's all good that he gives the people food and gifts, and charms them with words, but if he's someone who is easily controlled by others then he's no good in a position of real power.
ShadowSonic2 3 months ago

Never really imagined this hunt as 4 guys wandering around own their own...
niall142 5 months ago 90
@niall142 There were supposed to be horseman and lot's of men but they didn't have the budget to include them in this particular scene. That's what George R R Martin said at his Google talk.
StefanD99 5 months ago
@niall142 Neither did Martin. One of his few qualms with the tv adapation was this scene as it is. He said when the king goes hunting, he takes half the court with him. Alas, even GRRM didn't have pull when it came to the budget.
hallavast 3 months ago
@niall142 The makers of the show said that they had nearly run down their budget when they, made that scene and just did not have the money for horses, let alone the dozens of men and horses that would have been part of a typical Medieval, Royal hunt.
Rexanglorum 2 months ago
@niall142 There should have been hundreds of course but they couldn't afford it.
ofnair 2 months ago
@niall142 It wasn't. There were supposed to be hundreds of guys with him but they run out of money and time so they couldn't shoot this scene with all the dozens of extras and horses that would've been needed.
ofnair 1 month ago
@niall142 extras cost money. It's the same reason they skipped the battle scene and just had Tyrion get knocked out
Theriot6592 1 month ago
@niall142 Neither did George RR Martin. He hinted at that scene in an interview, but sadly, HBO aren't really rich as Lannisters.
