I spent 6 weeks on the island in the winter of 1960 - National Service in the Royal Artillery. Awful weather so didn't enjoy it much at the time but now longing to go back!
A magical place with a fascinating isolated history. It was here !n 184O that the last Great Auk was caught in the British Isles ....captured on "Stac an Armin"( a fabulous sea stack featured at the beginning of this video.) The Auk was tied up for 3 days as a storm raged and as the wind moaned and the auk honked, terrified, its captors suddenly believed it to be a witch and beat it brutally to death and threw it outside and the storm stopped.
I spent 9 months on the island in 1998. I was a Royal Engineer(ARMY)Electrician SNCO in command of the Royal Engineers detatchment. There were 8 RE'S and about 10 civilian staff. It was a unique experience. People have to pay a small fortune to visit St Kilda. So I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have stayed there for free.
Lovely video with just the feeling when it's all nice... been there plenty times but always miss back, on the yacht "Annag" of course! Great climbing, interesting to see the places then and compare them now... Thank you!
Brought back super memories of my September 2006 visit to St. Kilda, west of the Hebrides. I was told there are people who have tried to get there again and again and were stopped by lousy weather. Seems the group I was with, the Clipper Adventurer, was lucky.

Loved it! I was lucky enough to visit this incredible place in August 2003, courtesy of Murdo on MV Cuma. Memories will live forever. Well done!

Very well done. I love the way you've included footage of the old St Kildans, very effective!
