  • I use to love this commericial! I was 5 during this time, and I forgot all about it until coming across it here. Thanks for posting!

  • This made me really sad. This came out when I was a teen and Pontiacs were definitely cool cars for the time. How GM could neglect the brand to death in such a short time is beyond me.

  • I was 7 yrs old when I saw this commercial, and it built my hype for Pontiacs. I own one of the last cars made by Pontiac.

    A 2003 Grand AM...

    Thanx Pontiac

  • PONTIAC BEST PROFORMANCE CAR END OF STORY HAD MANY LOVED THEM ALL THEY NEED TO BE BROUGHT BACK ONLY IF UNDER SPECIAL ORDER PONTIAC 4 LIFE

  • This is the greatest car commercial I've ever seen! I am from europe and nowadays all car commercials are shit! There are always fuckin ugly creatures that are called modern cars - mostly ricers! And there's always a gay dude behind the steering wheel who looks so happy like he sits in a monstrous muscle car. And he drives like a pussy.

But these good old US-commercials show jackrabbits with real cars and cool 80s people, GREAT!!

  • wow 80s Pontiac was all about pop-up headlamps, white people partying, and whammy bars. and an acknowledgement that Knight Rider probably floated them through most of the decade.

  • i own an 84' fire bird, it base but it still flys

  • @dynomitis GM should have cancelled buick. The most reliable car I owned was a Pontiac

  • Because nothing says driving excitement like 80s Sunbirds and Grand Ams. They should have shown more Fiero and Trans Am action.

  • the worst years for american vehicles, thats a little unfair. some of the cars were pretty good, some were crappy. the third gen camaro/firebird is still a popular enthusiasts even today. same thing with the fox body mustangs. the caprice was a good car, still see quite a few on the road. the Bonneville was a good strong car. corvettes have always been cool regardless of the year. i think the worst years were the mid 1970's, most mid 70's sucked

  • it was goin great until they showed the sunbird ... then i threw up in my mouth a little and i had to shut it off

  • the woman pushing the guy back on the car hood is almost too much. also, the shot of the chick's thigh while shifting. tremendous!

  • my sunday school teacher has a 92 trans sport!! we had so many great memories in that van... then she died in a freak accident, so did the trans sport. ill miss ms. milborne!!! o great. now im crying!!!

  • I like the original description about "Best commercial for worst years in American autos" It makes perfect sense the ad guys would pull out all the stops to sell. A great jingle for a crappy product can do wonders.

  • This was shot in Toronto Canada.

  • RIP Pontiac.

  • Oh my god does that Trans Am at 0:15 look sexy. I think I am going to have to try black crosslaces on my car when I get it repainted..

  • pontiac forever!!!!!!!!!!!! owned my trans-am for 17years and i ain't selling it. although this god awful music is almost making me want to sell it.

  • Ich fahre in Deutschland einen Firebird. Es ist das beste Auto was ich jemals gefahren bin. Aus meiner Sicht ein GROßER FEHLER Pontiac zu schließen. PONTIAC is th best car-brand ever!!! R.I.P

  • Long live Pontiac.

  • no fiero with a body kit?

  • It drove great, the only issue I had was some parts were 1988 fiero only. The brake roters are even 88 fiero only and it made them costly. Around 119 dollars a roter so to replace the roters and brakes was very costly. Some other parts started to go bad at 210k miles that were 1988 fiero only. like the rack and pionon and other suspenchen parts.

most of the time i had the roters turned down to save money.

  • I used to have a 1988 fiero. I bought it in 1997 for 1,500 cash and it was a great little car. I bought it with 87k miles and drove it until it had 210k miles then i sold it to someone else. The used car dealer had it on the lot for 3,200 dollars but I saw it was there for about 6 months so I stopped and asked if he had any cash cars for around 1,500 and I asked about the fiero and I got it for $1,500.

  • we all have a little pontiac in us.

  • GM is refuseing to sell...im sure they have a plan for it or something...it would be just stupid of them not to sell it or use it while people still remember it....They also need to focus more on other brands beside chevy...

  • @TechForThought pontiac is past

  • Not a big problem, but this is actually a 1988 commercial, not 1987. The solid-color Fieros (and the yellow one) give them away as 88s.

  • My favorite time for General Motors was from 1960-1970 because ALL the GM brands had a muscle car and ALL the brands competed in all forms of motorsports (except motorcycle).

  • I'm soo sad to see pontiac leave the motoring world. I don't care what brand people favor pontiac will always have a place in our hearts.

  • @willsco76 me to

  • I agree!! This is, by far, the best car commercial ever!!!

  • They should have aired this commercial again this year! It would have saved Pontiac!

  • i have to dissagree with you 1987 was the year the last year for the Buick Grand National the best car of the 80's so that would make 88 the worst year for american car companys 88 brought the redesigned civics that actually looked like something someone would want to drive thats just my oppinion on 80's cars though

personally i feel all good cars died in 1973 with the gas crunch

  • way to go GM ya can one of the greatest car brands ever but yet keep buick and GMC and all GMC is a rebaged chevy truck and yall already have 1 granny car division (cadilac) why keep buick they shoulda kept pontiac and canned buick

  • How is this one of the worst years for American cars?

  • Holy crap, did Michael Mann direct that? It SCREAMS Miami Vice. This was a cool-ass commercial, and right now I want to hop in a Firebird and cruise some chicks in lots of makeup.

  • @9mmed That one guy in the white suit was a definite homage to Sonny Crockett.

  • I just read on Wikipedia that gm isa shuting Pontiac down this is realy sad news specely becose Pontiac was the car company that invented the muscle car thanks to John Zachary Delorean rip JZD & Pontiac sob

  • I think it's made for Pontiac commercial, for it actually say 'Pontiac'. You can get some programs from the net that let you download music from the Youtube.

  • what is that name of that song???

  • What's the name of this song? I want it ;-) :-)
